Pigment & Oyster Shells

Not everyday is a calligraphy day. Some days I pick oranges and make jam and others, far too few, I get oysters from the market so I can fill shells with pigment I need for some of the work I don’t usually share.
Today I decided to mix up a light and dark red and a light and dark blue and a green. The pigments are light azurite, lapis lazuli, vermillion, rose madder and malachite.
I forget how intense the colours are. Such a joy to be able to work through this process. I forget how much I love grinding and mixing pigments.
