As someone who always chooses AB as default main when i move servers, Kinesis, at least for me, required a lot less learning curve. Ive tried other magician classes but Kinesis stood out for me.
My first character was a I/L Mage. I got a really fun time playing my character to the third job before I quit MS. Years later, I started to play MS again and chose Battle Mage. Yes, Battle Mage was not a strong job, but I enjoyed to have a mage with qualities of a tank, perfect for me to go explore different maps. I did not care much for killing monsters to level up :)
I main beast tamer unironically! In Classic wow I fell in love with druids. (I main a shaman in retail now but still love druids and play them in every Game and pen&paper) Since maplestory is more of a relaxing game for me I decided to not go with the meta and I've been loving it!
Woah woah woah... thats it for my Beast Tamer? Ok lets fix this... Bear: Trash, I hate it, best damage who cares. It plays like a tank but cant sustain itself and doesnt have the HP/Def/Damage reduction to do it. Everyone plays it and I dont know why... Leopard: LOVE IT. Amazing map clearing which honestly makes leveling super fast from low level and then even up in the 200+ levels Hawk: Niche. I hear it can do god damage but... I find it boring. Fly up, use an ultimate, spam one key, fall to the ground, use your basics to reset flight, repeat. However, you can get 3 nice party buffs that give +30 atk/matk and +15% crit and +900 def that you can glitch to stay even if you change animals (normally its removed if you leave Hawk). Cat: Do you like buffs? I like buffs, and Cat has so many buffs. HP/Crit rate/Crit DMG/%Damage/+35atk/matk/+1 Atk Spd/20% defense ignore. It has everything. It also has a skill which reduces mob/boss defense by 40% for 6 seconds. A Cat (with the two Hawk buffs as well) can increase another persons range by 40-50%. Its serriously broken buffing that puts Bishops buffs to shame honestly. Pretty low damage but thats fine. Honestly, its not a solo players choice. If your goal is to solo the entire game and never play with friends don't play Beast Tamer. If you want to play with friends then it can be a ton of fun! I love playing in Cat mode because I am a Healer main in MMOs (Astrologian in FFXIV, which also uses cards to buff lol), but Beast Tamer doesnt make you stuck with only buffing and low damage. If you need to play solo, take out your Leopard and fly around the map hitting everything with respectable damage Lastly Beast Tamers have a million iFrames. First they have a 30s duration invulnerability (which has a bug where it randomly stops being invulnerable sometimes but you still get the +30% damage buff), they have a Hyper skill that makes you immobile and doesnt deal tooooooo much damage but lasts 5 seconds and also makes you invulnerable. Then they get Aerial Relief which is supposed to have a longer iFrame but is also bugged and its a little shorter, roughly 3 seconds long, and also makes you immobile but good lord does this skill burst. I can deal more damage with that one ability than someone with three times my range over 30s. And then being a mage, you also get Ethereal Form, which is a 3s invulnerability. Beast Tamer is definitely more for a niche audience but if you enjoy high mobility or insane buffing, Beast Tamer might click with you like it did me (I enjoyed the first version of Beast Tamer back when it was a buggy, crash inducing mess which could be outdamaged even in bear mode by people with half your damage range).
Wow it's so interesting to see how much this game has changed. I stopped playing just after Big Bang so 2010/2011 I suppose. I remember when I would go months and months on end and never see a F/p mage, so it was always running into one. Especially before people started making them to receive the blaze wizard skill.
Oooh fun video as I don't know that much about mages, also hope you're doing okay (read you were in hospital). To clarify, I think you didn't quite do BT rework justice, it certainly isn't a top tier class but it's not like bottom 5 anymore in terms of damage, and has quite a bit of utility aswell (eg. heals in cat mode). For example, there is a BT in reboot who is currently in a Hlucid and hard will party, and even has a lucid solo video, so they are a farcry from the garbage they used to be. Also they have flash jump so that makes 3 mages with FJ.
great video man thanks! i always make tons of mages when i play games. kinesis, beast tamer, and blaze wizards always my favorites regardless of nerfs. sadly though, i'm gonna bench them for awhile and work on other classes. i have grown fond of my wild hunter, shade, aran and few others and be working on them now.
Can you go into a little bit of detail about why Beast Tamers are underwhelming? Just curious. I'm just starting, and I brought a BT to 120 first, for the link skill. If this is bottom tier, then I'm in for a wild ride.
To be honest i think that beast tamer was most broken class i ever played till level 165 maybe. Simply cause on reboot where monsters are stronger and without any funding, without even starforcing it one-shoted whole maps every spawn by just staying still, thanks to bear-leopard combo (2 full map attacks as last skill). More, even leopard alone could've dealt with it thanks to his (2 sec colldown) big area of effect skill. Obviously the thing later is probably that it needs funding, but maybe let's talk about something else. Bear on the other hand is most-dmg dealing animal in beast tamer set, and it's rly ass to be fair, it's rly clunky and slow, i can't imagine bossing with it being fun time. I've heard that to make beast tamer the best it can be you have to go with bear/hawk/cat set, and it's rly frustrating that most fun and best mobber is left behind. When playing beast tamer you also feel like it lacks something, like it's not even a real class, but some fan-made one.
I grinded my BT to 210 in reboot and honestly I don’t think it’s clunky you just needa keep track of ur cd across ur modes. I was switching between leopard and bear mode as well as their hyper skill for a full map clear. U can literally sit in one spot and clear the entire map ez. And BT as they stand rn is pretty good. And it gets better at 5th job. They aren’t great by all means but now a days they play well. You just gotta know what ur doing and keep track of CDs especially if you don’t one hit
I know what you mean bro, cause that's what i meant, this combo i pretty nice and i guess if you're going for lvl 3 link skill it's fine, but to optimize your damage sooner or later you gotta pass on leopard, and then you are left with bear alone, probably with hawk too, but i never grinded with hawk.
I really miss luminous before they gave itthe switch L/D mechanic.. I know it was simple, but sometimes I like simple. not every class needs micromanaging :/ Everytime you go dark you're just waiting for light essentially.
Im ur opposite. When im training luminous as union char, i dont have much dmg and i want to get over it so i train at star force maps and i cant 1 hit mobs with light mode on and dark mode is able to 1 hit them and maximize my mobbing and depending on the map it can even hit 2 platforms so it isnt all completely bad.
Even with the grim reaper 5th job skill for BaM, do you still think they’re bad? Do you have any funded BaM friends and what’re their thoughts on the class?
"Actual funded beat tamer" ??? What is funded to you ??? what do you guys think? Absolab equips and higher? or just main? probably depends on the player.
I remember spamming Blizzard 30 on my I/L before Big Bang. I main a Bishop now in Kradia and I imagine it will be far more fun when we server merge. :)
I've been on and off MS for years now. I never really got far enough to say much (only 2 classes at lvl 150 and everything else sub 100) My recent time in MS was leveling a Beast Tamer to 150 and I really do love the class but it doesnt exactly offer much :(
So my only main (f/p) who i just was able to kill hellux is gonna get nerfed? MAGES need a revamp! night lords are better mobbers than they are now. they are weak compared to other classes. And if i'll try to switch main i'll lose like 50% of my range :(
I tried second maining a luminous recently, got him nice equipment and everything. At level 202, I just gave up. His teleport range is laughable. Im really sad to let this class go, but why cant he jump teleport and rope teleport either? It is really frustrating when you cant even get to a normal platform while almost (if not every) every other class can. In the new PQ for vanishing journey, you cannot get to the second platform whatsoever without equilibrium. I get the concept of the character being stronger in equilibrium, but they really need to buff his teleport.
232 lumi here, i want to also add that lumi's tp is server side so playing from europe on na server can be a real pain, i also wish they let him tp mid air outside of equil but it doesnt seems like nexon cares
Bishop is a bit rough to level. I mained it a LONG time ago but have since then played a lot of the more modern classes and going back, you very slowly hit like a wet noodle for a long time.
Yo how do i contact nexon about transfer hammer problems for mages? I can't transfer my lvl 108 overall to the pensalir one though lvl 120 overall since its 12 lvls diff instead of 10, and there is no singapore anymore so no monster throws lvl 110 one
for me, mages as a theme shouldn't be the best single target bossers. Mages reminds you of aoe and wide spread destruction. I can deal with them being the best mobbers or farmers in the game uncontested, but not the best bosser

PSS. Hawk mode can fly too.
By far the maplestory youtuber with the most notable content as interesting and very informative

This is definitely the best video series, keep up the good work!

You should do Pirates next!
Lmao!! I though my switch was on in my bag watching this! S/O to Three house
one of your items is stronger then all of my level 200 characters put together
The lumi nerf to teleport distance was the biggest hit for me in maplestory history.
I just noticed this video as i was watching the warrior one, this vid came out quick 👍
As BaM main, I can agree that BaMs need a modern update.
Loving the series!! So helpful,,Keep it up!!
Even with the grim reaper 5th job skill for BaM, do you still think they’re bad? Do you have any funded BaM friends and what’re their thoughts on the class?

Don't remember how strong she was but she has a level 250 beast tamer with probably enough gear to take on midgame bosses (Lotus, Damien, Will, Lucid)
illium op
Too bad perma crash tho 😁
i mean, if thats all it takes to have a cute robot friend(s), then its worth the crash :3
I like the new kanna and im pretty new to the game but im not sure if i should main her
I remember spamming Blizzard 30 on my I/L before Big Bang. I main a Bishop now in Kradia and I imagine it will be far more fun when we server merge. :)
boy oh boy ive been waiting for this one :D
BT skill rework actually makes it decent
I still can't choose ;~;
What i want is;
A great solo
High mobility
Decent party utility

When do u think they will do this rebalance?
Great vid btw keep it up
nooooooo I wanted archers. archers next before pirates plz
The consistent uploads are amazing. Keep up the great work
"Only used for botting meso farming in reboot, or kishin mule" me, with a Kanna 3rd main: wut?

So my only main (f/p) who i just was able to kill hellux is gonna get nerfed? MAGES need a revamp! night lords are better mobbers than they are now. they are weak compared to other classes. And if i'll try to switch main i'll lose like 50% of my range :(
Give luminous midair tp outside equil plox
#justiceforlumi
Love you heaps. Huge fan here :3
Their doing a burning character class on april 22nd and I want to make a character that's godly at mobbing and bossing. Any suggestions
idk but i made a BT with the burning event just for the link skill but i enjoy the new Kanna for mobbing and bossing.
I tried second maining a luminous recently, got him nice equipment and everything. At level 202, I just gave up. His teleport range is laughable. About the vj pq, 5th job rope lift is a must for lumi for that exact reason
(Although im almost sure that you can teleport using the erda spawners)
I just started playing Beats Tamer and maaan they are so fun I am really considering maining it
Bam 5th job skills are really cool what are you talking about? Really nice for mobbing
Maplestory still has a strong community? Thinking of trying it for the first time and getting into it.
We're gettin by ;P
I play evan because mir is cute
i swear if f/p gets nerfed ima rage
Loved BaM, but after moving to another server I really want to try bishop. It's such a bummer that there are no parties in the game anymore
Bishop is a bit rough to level.
I mained it a LONG time ago but have since then played a lot of the more modern classes and going back, you very slowly hit like a wet noodle for a long time.
I like this series.
