Looks more effective than electric pump transferring, and quieter too.

I haven't been to see one of these...but wonder if the stem length is adjustable??? I would like to weld a 2" bung in a retired propane cylinder...so, I can fill it with transaxle oil. Our motorhome takes almost 3 gallons. I want to put light pressure on the tank, and have a means of regulating flow at the end of the hose...where I would be holding the dispensing end into the pumpkin. Thanks!

The stem is simply a piece of threaded pipe that slides inside an o-ring, so the depth at which the pipe goes into barrel is infinitely adjustable within the length of the pipe.
Based on what you're describing, you could obtain another length of pipe that is threaded to add length, or perhaps the size you're working with on your tank would be sufficient as is.
Either way, it's adjustable simply by pushing it in deeper into the barrel or pulling it up.
      Hope that answers your question.

@@triggerguard1 Thanks... yeah...I would actually be going really short. I figured a 20# propane cylinder would easily hold 2 or 3 psi, without exploding...and I could climb under our Motorhome with the dispensing tubing...without having to hand pump 400 stokes. I wouldn’t need much more than 3 gallons capacity...as I would buy fresh oil every three years. Thanks again.

@@chuggsinator yep, just cut the end of the pipe that that faces the bottom of the barrel to suit you needed length, and you're set. Good luck and that sounds like a slick idea you've got going there.

@@triggerguard1 Thanks so much. Yes...the first time I did the service I used the one galling plastic hand pump. Miserable. This year, I thought I had gotten wiser and bought a 12v pump...it basically whipped the oil into foam, and sputtered...FAIL!!! Resorted to the hand pump again. Miserable. I’m going to keep trying to find something better. A barrel pump comes to mind...but I would have to get an assistant to do about 80 stokes on the pump. The pneumatic idea sounds excellent. I could potentially do that alone...and no pumping.

can someone tell me how to adjust the height. I am afraid to take it apart and not get it put back together. right now it cannot be screwed down into a 55g drum because pipe is too long

You probably already answered this yourself, but the pipe simply slides up and down inside the threaded bushing. If it's sticking too far down into the barrel, just pull up on the pipe and continue to thread it into the bung.

Will it work in ibc totes also

Never tried it, but it would all depend on whether the bungs were compatible. One thing's for sure, you'd want to keep your pressure under 2 psi.

    Does this work on gasoline?

What size discharge hose is needed?

    • @triggerguard1
      @triggerguard1  6 лет назад

I'm pretty sure it's 3/4", but if you were picking it up at Harbor Freight, I'd just grab one of the thousands of tapes they have there and check it before you left the store.

Thank you for that demo. But i have a problem. i use a metal 55 gallon drum for diesel transfer to my big tractor. I am afraid I am going to blow up a plastic barrel....
So here are my issues: I need to use the 2" hole to fill the barrel when I go to the station (the filler is a large mouth to dispense large amounts quickly) I need to dispense with the 3/4 hole with a hose. Nobody makes a kit for this. I just started this project but you can see my issue.

The pneumatic pump is threaded to accept both large and small bungs, so you should be fine with attaching it to the metal barrel. A word of caution being, if you exceed much more than a couple of pounds, you can blow up your steel barrel too. That's a lot of pressure on thin sheet metal.
