I actually like the lighter colored hairpiece for Anakin more. If you look back at Revenge of the Sith, his hair is exactly the same color as the lighter hairpiece. His hair is nowhere near as dark as the shade of brown in the 2014 set.
The design philosophy has been remarkably unchanged across 15, years, what with the pieces used for the cockpit and side fins, as well as the overall scale/"footprint"
Something you should have mentioned: The clips on the inside of 2014 can be used to store both parts of anakins lightsaber. 2020 has clips on the underside, one holds the lightsaber (Still assembled) and the other actually holds the spare spring loaded shooter bolt. This is a very handy feature since it's hidden away. (You didn't mention this in your review either.)
I'm sure, one day, Lego will make an Astromech droid with a swivel head. So that way, you don't have to be constantly popping R2's head off to reposition it.
The 2014 version is the best. The Anakin minifigure is spot on and he can actually sit properly in the cockpit. The wings are also attached better and there’s room for his lightsaber in the cockpit as well (which Ryan completely missed). I also think that LEGO is highjacking your polls since the newest set seems to always come out first.

Is this something that LEGO has fixed for all lightsabers, or did Ryan just get really lucky for that set? EDIT: It doesn't look like the new Ahsoka has the air bubbles either, so it looks like LEGO has fixed that problem forever :) All of my lightsabers have bubbles unfortunately, lol, but I'm glad it was fixed for all the people who buy LEGO Star Wars sets today.

In the realm of LEGO Star Wars though, this is very extraordinary news! Now I'm just waiting for LEGO to finally update the battledroid design since they've generally been using the same exact molds since 1999 (minus the cool arm change in 2007, of course). It's not that it's bad, it's just that it could use some improvements like detailed face printing for the eyes and facial lines (like what the commando droids have), independently posable legs, maybe an upgraded, more accurate torso, and of course the droid backpacks! (I have digressed a bit I can tell)
The model is also superior, which makes no sense since it’s 6 years older. The bottom is much smoother, the republic insignia on the back/top of the wings are placed more accurately, the cockpit is more thoughtful and faithful to the movies, the cockpit works properly. The black inner-wing cannons also look much better than the recent grey cannons with the cone tip, the ladder looking like it was made in a 2008 clone wars set:

As I kid I remember seeing the 2005 set advertised on the instruction booklet on other sets. The selling point for me was always the fact it included a Vulture droid as well and I always wanted to collect the sets accociated with the Battle of Courasant in order to re enact it. Looking back i must say the best Looking design is the latest one, with the exception of the Anakin minifig.
love that 2014 went all out with the figures. the detail seems so much higher, (though there are still some inaccuracies like the arms or the darker hair but if you want to really get into it the early 2000's hair color is most accurate). I like the darker colors overall though, and they seem much crisper. The face is better and his scar is more accurate, they even added the two scars on his left jaw (a detail most people don't even notice from the movie).
Honestly with a few pieces added for stability, and a few modifications to the underside for design, the 2005 one is the best I think. It's so much less bulky which is one thing I have not loved about the newer interceptors and the landing gear are a tiny but incredible feature.
I recently got the 2014 Jedi Interceptor on Mercari, and I felt it was much better than the 2020 version thanks to the better cockpit, less reliance on stickers, better Anakin figure and better overall look. I do think the 2005 look is still a classic, especially because of my memories playing Lego Star Wars TCS and loving the first mission of Episode 3.
The 2014 Anakin’s Jedi interceptor was one of the first Lego Star Wars sets I ever got. So it’s cool to see that a set from 2014 can beat out something from 2020. It shows how much LEGO has somewhat dropped in quality over the years.
I got the 2014 for my 7th birthday along with Obi Wans Interceptor and they were so much fun to play with I just re-discovered them last week so many memories flooded back

I am 20 years old and since I was little I played lego Star Wars the complete saga and I have always liked that version of lego anakin from 2005 but I never had that figure. These days I ended up buying that figure used but in good condition. It may not be the best anakin figure but I love finally having it.
I remember I loved the 2014 version so much when I was a kid that I didn't want to leave it at home when I had to go on a ski trip so I took it with me. It didn't make it in one piece. Saddest day of my life

Aside from price, I like the 2020 version. I never had a prequel Anakin, and I can make do with those Mustafar torso burn, but it does have leg printing 2:00. I never bought the 2014 version, and it will go well with my 2015 Obi-Wan Interceptor. I can swoosh them around side by side.

You forgot to mention an inaccuracy on the 2014 model. The insignia in front of the R2 slot that is supposed to be the Republic insignia is ACTUALLY the Imperial insignia. This was fixed on the 2020 model!
You say that, and yet the only difference between the two logos is the positioning of the symbols on them, not the symbols themselves. Both sets use the same logo, just with different spacing.

I always hated how in the movie even though R2 was fully in the ship apparently the bottom half disappears into thin air as the wings pretty thin. Or maybe it’s a weird wormhole idk.
I have the 2014 and 2020 versions, and personally I think the 2020 is the ultimate Anakin's interceptor because the building has a better design compared to it previous versions, the only thing they could fix was the Anakin torso without the Mustafar battle marks.
It looks like you're missing the two control panel stickers in the 2005 model. Also, you can rotate the antenna piece so that it goes into Anakin's hand instead of his face. I like how the 2005 model incorporated a throttle, whereas the newer models didn't.
i guess it does look weird and inaccurate, but it has the charm that old lego sets and figures have. and i have a lot of nostalgia for lego star wars: the video game, which has that anakin.
the best set value has to go to the 2014 jedi interceptor (the green version) it had a good build for the ship, good minifigures, and two stands for Anakin and Obi Wan to fight,
The Vulture Droid here is the second best IMO. The best one obviously being the 2008 one with Ashoka's Jedi Starfighter, the worst one by FAR being the 2014 one.
I had the 2005 set 2 times, first time as a kid ,absolutely loved it and played with it everyday til my brothers friend broke and lost all my parts, fast forward started collecting sets after high school, got it again, loved it ,got out of lego for a while cause my dad made me feel embarrassed for buying lego as an adult, sold all almost all my lego sets (regret horribly) fast forward 2020, bought a house and recently started getting back into lego, plan on getting it again, hopefully new in box, I do have the 2014 version though! Also 2014 version has the lightsaber holder in the cockpit!
Honestly, Lego nailed the general design of this craft already back in '05, as every set that features an Eta-2 since (with Yoda's the exception due to his specialized small cockpit) all using the same core techniques for the main structure of the ship.
In my opinion, The scale of the 2005 one is best, its the closest, if they made a slightly stronger model like that in 2020 with the detail of the new one, and either included a small Vulture droid, or Obi Wan, R4-P17 and red peices to make it Obi Wan's Starfighter too, it would be the best set, I would also give Anakin either new robes, or his General outfit from the Clone Wars, same with Obi Wan
Did a pic comparison with all three with the Eta-2 Jedi Interceptor they were based on and I have to say, design-wise, the 2014 is almost an exact replica of the ship. However, the laser cannon colors are off as they should be a dark grey color like that of the 2020. Lego should try to create grey versions of the cannons used in the 2014 set if they plan to make one that's more accurate in the future.
Honestly, with Anakin in the cockpit, you wont even notice the burn marks on his torso. GREAT set for display, literally nothing wrong here unless you were looking for a main Ep 3 Anakin
I just got the 2020 one, I don't have any of the other yellow ones, I love it but it's not worth more than 20 25 bucks, it would be worth 30$ if it included another figure like maybe captain rex
I don't mind the dark brown burn marks on the 2020 anakin torso because it just blends in really well with what is supposed to be leather on his costume. I can't say the same for obi wan since dark brown really stands out against the tan but I think the anakin is okay with it.
The 2014 one is my favorite. I wanted it SO BAD when I was younger. I always saw it in stores and begged for it. Every time a commercial came on I got sad cause I didn't have it. I still don't have it, and I still want it so bad. It will always be my favorite
I had the 2005 one and I broke it on accident as a kid and never had the patience to put it back together. Now, 15 years and 2 moves later I could unfortunately never put it back together :(
I had the 2014 set and I loved it but the windshield snapped somehow so I'm going to get the 2020 one. I also find it weird because less then a year before we got Anakin's Starfighter which is different but can with a better Anakin and r2d2. It was only 20 bucks. The new one has one more piece then the 20 dollar one and cost 10 bucks more

The first Lego set I had was Anakin's Jedi interceptor 2014. It is still my favorite ship.

Hi Ryan! I have a question, do you ever have issues with LEGO minifig arm or torso pieces cracking? I’ve been having a serious problem with, it it’s really annoying. Anyway, if you could respond and tell me how to prevent this or fix this I’d greatly appreciate it, thank you so much!

I always hated how in the movie even though R2 was fully in the ship apparently the bottom half disappears into thin air as the wings pretty thin. Or maybe it’s a weird wormhole idk.
They need to make Ashoka’s interceptor, not more of Anikin’s or Obi-Wan’s.

I have the 2014 and 2020 versions, and personally I think the 2020 is the ultimate Anakin's interceptor because the building has a better design compared to it previous versions, the only thing they could fix was the Anakin torso without the Mustafar battle marks.
Before watching I’m gonna say the 2014 set has to be the best. It just is cmon
It looks like you're missing the two control panel stickers in the 2005 model.
Also, you can rotate the antenna piece so that it goes into Anakin's hand instead of his face. I like how the 2005 model incorporated a throttle, whereas the newer models didn't.

i guess it does look weird and inaccurate, but it has the charm that old lego sets and figures have. and i have a lot of nostalgia for lego star wars: the video game, which has that anakin.
the best set value has to go to the 2014 jedi interceptor (the green version) it had a good build for the ship, good minifigures, and two stands for Anakin and Obi Wan to fight,

The Vulture Droid here is the second best IMO. The best one obviously being the 2008 one with Ashoka's Jedi Starfighter, the worst one by FAR being the 2014 one.
I had the 2005 set 2 times, first time as a kid ,absolutely loved it and played with it everyday til my brothers friend broke and lost all my parts, fast forward started collecting sets after high school, got it again, loved it ,got out of lego for a while cause my dad made me feel embarrassed for buying lego as an adult, sold all almost all my lego sets (regret horribly) fast forward 2020, bought a house and recently started getting back into lego, plan on getting it again, hopefully new in box, I do have the 2014 version though! Also 2014 version has the lightsaber holder in the cockpit!

Honestly, Lego nailed the general design of this craft already back in '05, as every set that features an Eta-2 since (with Yoda's the exception due to his specialized small cockpit) all using the same core techniques for the main structure of the ship.
Your videos always help me buy the best sets wich sometimes is not the latest set.

In my opinion, The scale of the 2005 one is best, its the closest, if they made a slightly stronger model like that in 2020 with the detail of the new one, and either included a small Vulture droid, or Obi Wan, R4-P17 and red peices to make it Obi Wan's Starfighter too, it would be the best set, I would also give Anakin either new robes, or his General outfit from the Clone Wars, same with Obi Wan
One thing it seems you overlooked was how in the 2014 set you could break up the lightsaber and store it behind Anakin in the cockpit
That he misses but somehow doesn't miss the red technic pin behind it. He certainly skews his reviews in some ways.
Did a pic comparison with all three with the Eta-2 Jedi Interceptor they were based on and I have to say, design-wise, the 2014 is almost an exact replica of the ship. However, the laser cannon colors are off as they should be a dark grey color like that of the 2020. Lego should try to create grey versions of the cannons used in the 2014 set if they plan to make one that's more accurate in the future.

You can also see the emblem on the 2014 model is actually the Imperial logo instead of the Republic. The Empire has a 6 pointed "star-like" emblem.
Honestly, with Anakin in the cockpit, you wont even notice the burn marks on his torso. GREAT set for display, literally nothing wrong here unless you were looking for a main Ep 3 Anakin

I just got the 2020 one, I don't have any of the other yellow ones, I love it but it's not worth more than 20 25 bucks, it would be worth 30$ if it included another figure like maybe captain rex

I don't mind the dark brown burn marks on the 2020 anakin torso because it just blends in really well with what is supposed to be leather on his costume. I can't say the same for obi wan since dark brown really stands out against the tan but I think the anakin is okay with it.
Im so happy with the 2020 one only 27,50 and endless play fun i got it and its a 10/10 for me i love it
I remember, when in 2005 I went to Toys'R'Us and bought the 7256 Jedi Interceptor - my 2nd Lego Star Wars Set!
And I don't really like the newer ones.
The 2014 one is my favorite. I wanted it SO BAD when I was younger. I always saw it in stores and begged for it. Every time a commercial came on I got sad cause I didn't have it. I still don't have it, and I still want it so bad. It will always be my favorite

I had the 2005 one and I broke it on accident as a kid and never had the patience to put it back together. Now, 15 years and 2 moves later I could unfortunately never put it back together :(
I had the 2014 set and I loved it but the windshield snapped somehow so I'm going to get the 2020 one. I also find it weird because less then a year before we got Anakin's Starfighter which is different but can with a better Anakin and r2d2. It was only 20 bucks. The new one has one more piece then the 20 dollar one and cost 10 bucks more
