I hope that when Koreans read comments of international viewers asking for English sub be happy that their content/art/music/ movies are all over the world and encourage companies to put more languages subs instead of telling people to actually learn Korean in a snobby way. it's everywhere I go, I read in a lot of places and frankly this is off putting. don't make people feel guilty if they don't have the time or means to know your language. people who already can they do learn the language but not everyone has the means, time, the money or learning speed to study a langugae they will only use in watching some entertaining stuff
Well said. I feel a hint of resentment coming from these snobby Koreans. Not all Koreans are like this. But it's only natural that a lot if not most of the fan base ask for English subs since that was the native language of the people who first created these characters. Now that others who's native language isn't English have creative license to work with these figures just goes to show that the fan base is very diverse so the stories keep growing. And that growth is key to this legacy or any legacy. Not being snobby and resentful. Humans are better than that.

Unfortunately in every video i go (whether it's kpop or kdrama or even stories like this!) I find someone saying "learn Korean instead of asking for English" and what's bad is some of them reply to the English comment in Korean!! Very very bad taste and snobbish way. they make me feel frustrated that I am even watching this but I remind myself that this doesn't represent the whole society and maybe this is what they do in their culture because they very hard working people but still learning language to watch something as a fan...? why would I do that when this the entertaining stuff that I see after I am done with my work. Maybe it's an Asian thing because I've browsed thru some Chinese music and dramas and there's a few Chinese who will respond rudely if a person ask for English subs. Again maybe there's resentment that they had to learn English as a second language in what did you say elementary school? And I"m like yes most countries have learned English as a second language because the US does business with a lot of these countries and the US speak English.
