      I will give you that 🙌👍😊
      It's tricky, sure but I believe a few adjustments in propagation apparatus or the rooting assistant or fungicide and we can successfully grow Rosemary plant from cuttings.
      Please try and get the cuttings from a well-established plant, at least a year old, younger the plant, chances of cuttings' survival diminish considerably.
      I wish you the luck and energy to work things out this time around.
      If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion.

    Sir, what to do with thin rosemary sticks I got from street vendors, I dont know why they have thin rosemary. its certainly not like yours. Will it work on that too?

    • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  3 года назад +1

      You mean, how we get coriander, mint or curry leaves at a store? What I mean is that you buy rosemary leaves not the plant, right?? I am here in Dubai, we get small plants as well at the store, so I grew it for 2 years, and then I got the cutting from it.
      These thinner stems will have a success rate of only 10-20% so its a chance you should take, you got nothing to lose 😊 👍 Just make sure that the stem is more brown than green!!
      So either you buy a plant or get FRESH cuttings from a 2+-year-old plant.
      If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion.

    hey! just wondering for propogating the cutting, do we need to use a transparent cup?

    • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  2 года назад

      Not necessarily, any kind of container would work, as long as you keep the apparatus on a windowsill (inside that is) to maintain consistent temperatures between 21 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius!
      And of course, things mentioned in the video should be done as they have been demonstrated. I wish you luck and the energy to pull it off really well.
      If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion.

      No, there was no 'UPDATE' video, some plants stay with me after propagation and some go to a new house and that's what happened to a couple of Rosemary plants that were raised. The plant was in great shape and bushy, sure if I happen to see the plant any time soon, will definitely bring out a shorts video, stay tuned, stay safe!!
      If you have any specific thing to discuss, I am here, we can talk about it. And I will make sure I bring out another Rosemary video of course this time around with a video that covers at least 6 months from the date of propagation.

      Sure, you can do that however this would have a limited benefit related to 'cinnamon powder water solution'. • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  2 года назад +1

      Yes, that's right; Cinnamon powder and water solution treatment would work every time you trying to propagate a plant/tree from cuttings 😊👍💯
      ➽ Cinnamon works great as a fungicide (help the wounded part heal better) and even helps with the rooting during propagation (all you got to do is scar the cutting and dip it in a solution of cinnamon powder and water for about 2-3 hours before putting them in the soil).
      Sure, you're welcome. I am delighted that you did enjoy the video 💯 👍😊

    • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  3 года назад +1

      I would suggest that you get yourself some 'Grow Light' equipment installed for the indoor plants. Sunlight is necessary and the only way to get it to the plants (in your case) is through grow light. Of course, grow light will provide 6 hours of sunlight in double the amount of hours (that is 12 hours or so).
      Also, please note that Rosemary loves sun, so if you want to keep it outside in full sun, it would be fine, no worries there.
      In case you need to clarify anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion.

      Hi bro, yes only when the soil is dry because Rosemary doesn't like wet feet. However spraying water on the leaves in the evenings is perfect. I would suggest that you train this plant to have water in the pot only 2 times a week.

      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  4 года назад +1

      Yes it will. Thank you for reaching out, appreciate it. Welcome to my channel and please make sure you stay subscribed and keep up the support. About the root size, it would depend on the pot size you got for the young cutting after it roots- bigger pot/ ground, roots should be longer as you mentioned but if you are putting it in a smaller pot then root size can be even 1-2 inches. Hope I answered your question 😊😊. Thanks again

    What's with the cinnamon how much cinnamon and how long does the rosemary sit in the cinnamon and water

    • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  3 года назад

      Cinnamon would act both as a disinfectant (fungicide and the likes) and a rooting assistant, more importantly, there are no side effects.
      The Rosemary cutting should be in the Cinnamon powder and water solution for about 1-2 hours and then let it grow roots in plain tap water sitting on a windowsill with filtered sunlight.
      If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion.

    How long before putting out in the sun 🌞🌞

    • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  2 года назад

      As soon as roots are out, give it a couple of days more to reach a length of about 2-3 inches, and then take the new plant to soil. Now, at least 2-3 weeks in a shaded area, and only then I would advise you to let it be in the sun!!
      Also, the Rosemary plant can survive well indoors as well provided temperatures are between 24 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius and of course a well-lit window.
      I wish you the luck and energy to pull this off. Anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion. Cheers!!

    I've had 3 failed attempts in rooting rosemary cuttings. They all rot. Tried it in tap water and in a vermicast pot but they all rot after a week. Found this video yesterday and I immediately bought a pack of cinnamon and grab a stem from my rosemary. Hopefully it helps🙏

      Sorry to hear that!! Let us try and fix that for you. Here are some points you can incorporate-
      - Cutting should be from an older plant (2+ years)
      - 6-8 inches the length of the cutting
      - Cutting should have the leaves in the top half all intact, remove leaves from the base
      - At least 3-5 nodes in the water
      - Keep the fresh cutting directly into cinnamon and water solution for not more than 1- 2 hours and then wash the excess cinnamon from the bark
      - Now shift it into fresh tap water (I used a transparent plastic juice cup) and place on the windowsill (possibly some indirect sunlight makes it to the cutting)
      - Every second day, have a look-see if the water is discolored, please change it and if the cutting looks like it would rot, wash it with a gentle stream of water and then place it again in the tap water
      - Rosemary will take at least 2-3 weeks to grow roots like this, so be patient and once it does, you will see roots grow quite fast and within a couple of more weeks you can repot it
      If at all there is anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me again, would love to hear from you- questions, suggestions, or feedback on more videos in the future too.

    • @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai
      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  3 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear that!! Let us try and fix that for you.
      Current cuttings- Cut off all the dying leaves cleanly. Wash off the bottom part of the cutting with some getle stream of water then get a teaspoon of cinnamon powder in almost a litre of water and let the cuttings sit in this solution for about 2-3 hours and then wash off the excess cinnamon residue from the cuttings. I used a transparent plastic cup full of tap water, you can do that too. And place the cup on a windowsill that gets a couple of hours of indirect sunlight. I am sure 1-3 days, you will know exactly where the cuttings are headed. If things don't change much, I would suggest you start some.fresh cuttings and use all the points I have mentioned below.
      Future cuttings- Here are some points you can incorporate if this time things don't work out the way you would have wished-
      - Cutting should be from an older plant (2+ years)
      - 6-8 inches the length of the cutting

      @GauravChhikaraGardenDubai  4 года назад +4

      Yes, you can do that however please do it for 8-10 hours instead of a couple of hours (which we do for a fresh cutting). And then shift the cutting to tap water container. Fresh cuttings will soak in a lot of water initially than a cutting which has been in water for a week hence 3-4 times extra hours in cinnamon solution. If there is anything else, please let me know. I am sure you will have great result given you have an eye for detail. Wish you great energy and luck. 👍😊

Of course, the cuttings were already in plain water for 6 days prior, but with no activity except for 1 baby root "nub" on the day I applied the cinnamon.
