Really fun album that's not as toxic as "Wasteland." Moment of Your Life featuring Coco Jones is my favorite track off this album, with both of them singing in perfect harmony. Solid 8/10.
People just need to give the album time, it gets better each listen honestly. It doesn’t sound like his old stuff just like how it took people time to love Wasteland I can see the same with this
When i heard it the first time while doing chores it was good but felt a bit underwhelming but the next days listening to it in my car it really just got better and better
Exactly what I want from a Brent mixtape, trying new things and some really good instrumentals. Some of the features underwhelming but thought the intro and some of the other songs were fire
I'm honestly trying to see what he did new with this album. The only good songs are the singles and a couple of the FEATURES songs. Otherwise the album is quite mid and im a Brent fan. He never really takes his voice anywhere or even experiment with different flows, cadences and or delivery. It's all the same cookie cutter R&B we've been hearing for years that anyone can do at this point. Im not trying to hate but this album is definitely overhyped
@@Huskie_BOSGhe really doesn’t need to do new cadence’s because his voice is perfect, also anyone that listen to wasteland and fuck the world can tell the difference from production and lyricism, it’s not the same in my opinion
No it’s not touching that era. This is a terrible album. Not even top10 R&B albums this year. It’s no where near the two projects Terrace Martin dropped this year with James Fauntleroy and Alex Isley; it ain’t better than Leon Thomas’s album; not better than Victoria Monet album; Cleo Sol; Musiq Soulchild’s album; or Diddy’s Love album; same with Kelela; Eric Bellinger; and Maeta. These are all superior albums.
@@pandacommanda9163 man, look. Music is subjective to a certain point. You have the ability to like trash, but that doesn’t mean it’s not trash. Once something is executed on an elite level, demonstrating a mastery, choosing your preference among those crops of talent is based off of your subjective preferences. But if it’s trash, the only thing subjective about it is that you like it and I don’t. It being trash is objective. Brent could have a song where the key is in f-major and (un-intentionally) sing the record in G#-sharp minor. The man is constantly off key when he sings. He’s also a lazy songwriter. I don’t get good song structure: half thought out ideas executed juvenilely, etc. But the most important thing is that bro cannot sing in key. Kelela, Eric Bellinger, Maeta, Terrace Martin & Alex Isley, Terrace Martin & James Fauntleroy, Dinner Party, Arin Ray, Diddy’s “Love” album, Jozzy, Victoria Monet, and Léon Thomas, etc., all dropped fire projects this year. That’s talent. Just listen to “Witchcraft” by James Fauntleroy - this is talent.
@@dfwherbie8814 But it’s subjective that you think it’s trash. Other people can love the vibes, feelings and tone in the songs whereas you probably are looking for something different.
@@pandacommanda9163 no. It’s not subjective that I think it’s trash. Someone with bad songwriting is not subjective. Someone who cannot sing is not subjective. If it is, than we can’t objectively say Whitney Houston was a better singer than Rihanna. And do you know how ridiculous that would be? Brent can’t sing. And he sings off key. So objectively, he has no talent. You like it though, so that’s subjective. That’s what you like, but it’s still trash
tbf even as big brent fan my first listen wasn’t it and that’s because I went in expecting this album to be a wasteland type project even tho now I get it that this is more of a FTW kind of mixtape. But I swear this album really grows on you just like FTW and that’s why I love brent and is one of my biggest artistic inspiration. Every project sounds different and he is constantly exploring the genre and experimenting new things that actually work really well. I think that’s what makes an artist a good artist
This one grows on every listen. My AOTY tbh. It’s basically a love letter to 90s-early 2000s DMV production. Namely Virginia with Pharrell Timbaland and Missy
To be honest I miss so much the OG Brent Faiyaz / Sonder, very melancholic and melodic. Records like Into or AM Paradox are gems. These new melodies he is doing on a more 90s vibe don’t hit me at all, but hopefully he is enjoying what he is doing now, it’s all that matters!
Interesting!! I thought otherwise considering his early singing seemed to be influenced by a lot of 90s r&b :aaliyah harmonies, Rome, etc etc . I do agree on missing that sonder “sound “ tho. A lil slowed (“screwed” )toxic catchy shit would put an extra cherry on top
It's such a shame as Brent obviously knows how to sing and write great vocal lines, but I can't help feeling that all these beats are Brent Faiyaz type beats off RUclips. Great potential, but as you said it needs more to take it to the next level.
@@josiahwilliams6842 not true lol , Brent is actually richer then alot of rappers now he is independent and he sold alot of records which all the profits go to him and his team . There’s a reason why he turned down a 50 mill record deal Listen to his older projects , the production on sonder son is crazy and he did that project before he blew up
False. They’re Da Bassment Crew influenced. The reason why Timbaland is all over the project. Do your research on Devante Swing’s first label in the 90’s
On friday I was on my way to a halloween party and wanted to listen to some r&b that made me feel good and confident, I decided to play this mixtape and it gave me exactly what I needed. Easy to enjoy and the nostalgic elements worked perfect for a night out
I feel like this was rushed but he really had something with Tim’s intro…7/10. Strong intro good middle and forgettable end. A lot of these tracks held no weight and felt like throwaways or demos tho overall I do enjoy that 90’s feel to it. Hopefully Brent and Timberland can put a project out because I feel like there is something serious there and it would be criminal not to expand on that.
I know he has another Too Fast or another What You Heard in him. Those songs are literally flawless. Honestly, this album is better than Wasteland. I like Brent way better when he’s with Sonder
Yeah in a interview he stated that he actually don't like singing...And the only thing he liked about it is that it makes him money. So this no doubt explains why his singing is alwasy the same, he isn't ganna be interested in improving his voice if he don't really care for singing in the first place. Which is very freaking sad. What a waste of a voice on someone he don't even love it.
This album has weird CDQ going on with some of the production, it’s strange. Honestly I think the only reason why some Brent songs aren’t as good as they could be is because the production meanders. There’s rarely every major progression instrumentally, and that can be fine but his production is way too stripped back and barren. His best songs are always ones where musicality either progresses or is substantial enough to stay simple
probably his weakest but still a solid tape with really immediate sounding tracks, once you listen a few times you realise that songs like tims intro, wherever i go and pistachios are levels above the rest due to them just having more depth
I like this better than Wasteland but idk if I’ll go back to it. Brent is lowkey a bit boring to me, I wish he’d do more with his voice. His old stuff is p good tho, F the World is his best work

Agreed! I said Timb’s production was lackluster and the mixing was horrendous! Brent’s vocals were too muddy and ducked under, even clashed with most of the beats. Rocky’s vocals were way too thin on the only decent track really on there. Leon Thomas put out an amazing album, and probably the best R&B release this year, alongside the remixes on it.
Yeah i think the only thing thats saving him is he tone. Which overshadows any othe vocal issues. doesn't help that he actaully doesn't like singing so it definalty shows, and so will no doubt will never be interested in improving his voice/ working with a vocal coach.
