Would of put NEW bump stops in top of both struts & Boots 😃👍 Good video & its great learning tool for young car enthusiasts that want to have a crack at doing their own suspension & not pay Mechanics big money that some try & charge us ! Cheers from Bundaberg Qld 🇦🇺🍹🕺
since it's been a bit I don't think you'll see this, but if a bolt/nut is stripped you can you can use the locking pliers or a clamp instead of a spanner, you won't get the bolt/nut on tight that way but it's a neat trick if you want to put a fresh bolt/nut on there, sometimes it's properly buggered though and you've got to whip out the nut cutter or Dremel to get it off
i had 46sl in my rears which according to king springs website that's the lowest you could go kingsprings.com.au/catalogue/vehicle/304/holden-commodore-vt-vx-vy-6cyl-sedan-1997-7-2004 . and yea I just had standard rear shocks with them, she also scraped out of every drive way
I have pedders SL in the rear of my VX S pac, i want to do the fronts, i want the car at legal height which is apparently if a coke can fits under the front of the side skirt its legal. Is your car at legal height this way? @dismissedtub6717
@@snizzle.gamestv8793 mine cleared the coke can shit because i tested that but it didn't clear the eyebrow height requirement in SA tho. i have just raised my front as I scrapped a lot as I got extractors put in
You did not replace the struts , you can not use standard struts on going that low , standard struts are only good for stage 1 lowering of 30 mm , you go any lower you need to get shortened travel struts … these struts because you did not put specialised struts in will wear out prematurely , also they don’t look like quality struts so it probably doesn’t matter if they fail .. when they fail put in some Monroe GT struts , on my VY , V8 I have polybushings on top of dust cover , also a polyurethane strut mount top , Monroe’s and king springs I kept at stock height , not always the way to lower vehicles it takes out the highly engineered factory specifications
Good advice there & i concur 100% i have a 2004 VY Calais V6 & im using SuperPro Polyurethane Bushings on Suspension along with GT Monroe Strutts & im Actually going to raise my car back to normal regular height , Previous owner back in 2006 prior to me getting the car in 2010 had the car lowered way to low 🙈👎 The stance looks amazing BUT I'm over the stiff bumpy ride & Bottoming Out & Tyres hitting guards , ive put 20's on the car 👎 But im going back to 17inch Wheels i think 🤔 If raising the car don't eliminate most of the problems! I'm in process of full part replacement of Front Suspension (not just individual bushings/ bushes ) it's easier to just replace the total part & save time pushing /cutting old rubber bushings out & pressing new ones in , Part Replacement is best because of age of the car ! I'm leaving the Calais to my son & want him to be safe & use the car for another 20 years if we can still by fuel for cars. 😂😂😂
Cheers for your videos mate, working on my own 98 VT V6 and you've covered everything thoroughly, making replicating your work easy as. Thanks again
No problem, glad they helped you out. :)
just installed both front and rear springs. these videos helped a lot. cheers man and keep up the great videos

Yea ideally would have put new but I was doing on the cheap but since this video replaced all the struts in the car

Thankyou for explaining everything properly bro I appreciate it alot , this has to be the best video for this👍🏾👍🏾
thank you, i appreciate the feedback.
Thanks mate just got a wh and will definitely be doing this
No problem and enjoy
You need to replace the dust boot also you put the bolts on the bottom of the strut the wrong way bolt head to the front
Are theese super low k8ng springs or just lows?
Hey mate are the SSL all around or
just SL front and SSL rear?
Fronts are khfl-47sl and the rears are khrl-46sl. On king springs website it says these are Ultra Low and I couldn't find anything lower.
did you need a wheel alignment after doing the front suspension?
you most likely should but i havent. doesnt pull to the left or right, but i will check the tyres wear pattern when ever its on jacks or ramps
Can you do a drive by video of the exhaust please
Is there SL or SSL In your rears? With standard shocks?
i had 46sl in my rears which according to king springs website that's the lowest you could go kingsprings.com.au/catalogue/vehicle/304/holden-commodore-vt-vx-vy-6cyl-sedan-1997-7-2004 . and yea I just had standard rear shocks with them, she also scraped out of every drive way

@@dismissedtub6717 at the end photo Ur car looks lower in the rear than what it does at the end of the other video you did

@@snizzle.gamestv8793 that could be due to the springs settling in, as sometimes they can get lower by driving it around
Hey bro , the lowness of this is legal or no?
this height is not legal i think by 2-3 cm for eyebrow height
100 mm is legal height , from lowest point on the car
Whats the stock ride height of a 2005 or similar vz commdore? How low can I go before having to get VASS approval for rego?
If a coke can fits under the side skirts it's all good, that's what I was told 20 years ago when a cop was going over my car 😂
@@knifethrower9733 They have the wheel of death these days.
That helps me out
Glad to have helped
Give em the bogan chop'n'lower mate

Would you be able to make a quick video / instruction list on lowering the front and rear on a vt? Know any good JustCommodore threads?
kinda weird i put standard xr6 springs which is apparently stage one lowered for a non xr6 and it destroyed my struts
Yep.@@closertothetruth9209
