- I have been fortunate to have had the top video on RUclips for growing tomatoes for the past year and still going strong. By far the most popular thing in that video was the way I trellis my indeterminate tomatoes. So many viewers have contacted me after trying it in their own garden and had great success. This video shows that method, plus a small upgrade to the system to grow even more tomatoes in less space!

Can't wait to get mine.
Looks like something I would like to try.
Nice! I’m in the process of researching best trellises and this one is the best by far and most efficient! Thank you! Keep up the good work!

Great
Your are one of very few youtube gardeners that can teach well. Your content is packed with information without extraneous verbiage WE DON’T need.
Thank you!
ooookkk that is SO cool! I want to see the "after" of the plants winding around!!
Great video! I am a Master Gardener in Arizona and my husband and I built a pergola just to grow tomatoes under to protect them from the hot Sonoran Desert sun. We stretched 40% shade cloth on both the South and West sides of the pergola and those tomatoes did fantastically. I just harvested my last bunches of ripe ones on New Years Day as well as about 30 lbs of green tomatoes that I canned Green Tomato relish with. I'm going to use your method to attach to the top of my pergola this spring when I set out my new plants. Ordering those string spools today!
I was one of the 3 people on the planet who missed your other tomato video. Thanks for doing this one!
I was one of that three. Lol so happy I saw this video.
I am another one of the three so there may be more?!?!
me too!
I also missed it. I will search for it.
That is cool. I can't wait to see them growing!
I would have never thought to twist my plants to extend the vine. Definitely this is thinking outside the box. Literally.

This season started serious tomato growing and learning. Neighbors surprised by pruning. Eyes on my plants. They are looking great, full of tomatoes and growing up. Didn’t even know what determinant and indeterminate was before. Glad to see hooks are in stock. Thanks for the education.
I’m looking to try stringing my tomatoes for the first time this year. Being disabled, anything that gives me an edge goes a long way.
I discovered this tomato hook method about a year ago, found the company that makes them & yes they only sold them in larger quantities so not meant for the average home gardener.
I also found a video showing how to DIY.
But then I went over to eBay & did a ton of looking there & eventually found someone selling smaller amounts of basically the exact same thing & ordered a dozen of them.
I had also discovered those round white clips about the same time so ordered some of those too.
Hello...
I'm so happy I read your comment about those spools. I read that u found a video on how to DIY those. I had given some thought to that. These, I think could have other uses too.
Would you be willing to share the video you mentioned. It would b greatly appreciated. Things sold to retailers are often more ecpensive than necessary. I'm all for making a profit, however, it seems these days that mark-up is often so greedily astronomical that you often feel raped once you learn the sellets mark-up percentage. While I wanted to support this guys efforts & hope to see our marketplace more open, for many reasons, I must say that I'll be very surprised if the company does offer these for general retail sales at a reasonable price. I'd like to see the video you mentioned. I haven't found it.
Thank you so much for your time and thoughtful consideration...
S I believe they are called tomahooks (short for tomato hooks). This is the DIY video & he has one showing using them too I believe. ruclips.net/video/ujRY3aUniw0/видео.html
I used an old wooden extension ladder, put 2x4 legs on, and placed it in my ground garden. Looks frigging awesome 😊.
Super idea! I must try it. Here’s a project to indulge my husband with (I’m the main Gardner, he’s just my helper!!) Thank you.
Here in Florida our one day of Winter has passed, so we’re ready to grow some tomatoes. We like the new, growing tomatoes info and new ideas.
Lol! I recently moved to North Florida from South Central Florida and there is actual WINTER here for a few days!! My bird bath was frozen for like two days and I had to defrost it with warm water for the birds!
Annette Quintanilla Hope you enjoy North Florida, yes it does get cold there, that’s one reason it’s called South Alabama. That and all of the Southern Accents. We’re Central Florida Mickey Mouse Land. Our weather here is totally different. The cold goes Jacksonville North. I hope you enjoy your new adventures and grow lots of delicious tomatoes. 😃
Excited to start growing tomatoes with your trellis system and using your new improved concept,
That happened to an early girl tomato I planted years ago in Fresno. He wrapped around my whole garden and kept producing through December!
Yes, we need this product for home gardeners! Thanks
Finally, a way to extend not just the growing season, but increase the yield here in Louisiana's warmer and longer growing year! Yay!!!
Dear Unnamed String Spool Company, Brian's viewers are interested in your mystery tomato vine maximizer.
We got them! Www.nextlevelgardening.tv/shop
I want a discount on the hooks
@@NextLevelGardening are they sold with the string or is it just the hook? There's not a product description - I'd be really curious to know the size and the picture show string (but it also shows tomatoes :) so I'm not sure what exactly I'd be getting. Thanks, love your videos!
Yup they come with the string ready to go. I think they are 9 inches long
@@NextLevelGardening would like to order some Barbara

I AGREE with Tony Mac... LOVE THIS
. I was just about to order those hangers. Please let us know when these are available, and when. BTW, your videos are amazing. Thanks
I too was one of the 3 people on the planet who missed the first video. My wife watched your videos and I wasn't around to see them. Now that I have, I'm hooked and love your ideas and your presentation technique. Well-done, good sir.
Loving this info. I’m in my second year of gardening and will be planting 4 different types of tomato plants and this is totally helpful
I've already built the beds to grow vertically and still need to build the trellis yet. I'm really looking forward to growing tomatoes using your system.
Can’t wait to try the new addition to the system
Making trellis tomorrow. Can’t wait to try new way to support tomatoes. My plants are already 5 ft tall and will need all the help they can get.
What a great solution! I love the indeterminate heirloom Roma's and when I grew them in my guest shower, they came over the top and threatened to engulf anyone using the toilet, LOL. Just 3 plants became a jungle, in spite of giving them a "haircut" every week. They also gave me more than I could eat, so that was great for sharing.
I'm interested!
@@louisemcneil6024 In? What can I help you with? I grew them hydroponically which makes them grow so much faster than in dirt.
absolutely interested, sounds like a very smart interest growing that company.
We moved to Texas from Pennsylvania so we are starting our first raised bed garden here. Tomatoes are a big part of our garden so this information is perfect for us.
I was another one of the three folks who missed the first one. I’m going back to watch. Because of space issues, I can’t go up 8 feet, so I’ll need this solution sooner. I’m pretty sure I can get close to 7, but not quite.

Hook and line system looks like a great idea. Can’t wait to try it!
Hi I'm Janet. I've been loving your teaching on container tomatoes. I started two varities from seed. Today removed them from solo cups and put in the 5 gal buckets. Trying to follow all your advice. First time in a long time growing tomatoes.
This looks like a great idea! I actually built a modified version of your trellis system by running two vertical and two horizontal members about 18 inches apart with slats on both. I could use this system to run the plants around both sides of each horizontal system I think. Will have to give it a try as soon as they become available.
I met a pirate once, yea a real pirate! Anyways, I asked him how he lost his eye.. he said a seagull was flying over and that he looked up just in time to have the seagull poop right in his eye. I said “wow, seagull poop knocked your eye out?!” The pirate said “nay, it was me first day with me hook”.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣
That’s awesome!!!
Harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Wow! Sounds like an amazing method to get the most tomatoes ever
Sounds pretty interesting I would definitely like to try this
Definitely interested in learning everything about home gardening.
I love this way of planting tomatoes 🍅 thank you
I have grown thousands of tomatoes in my back yard in just one year using simple stakes. This is my first year trying a trellis.
We grew tomatoes on a tresslis that my husband made, but too tall and difficult to handle. Would love to try something new.
I can hardly wait to get the hooks for my garden. I’m old, but a new gardener, and most anxious to succeed.
I’m going to try this this season.
What is the company name - I want some.
I'm not able to say yet until they are open for business to the general public But as soon as that happens I will let you know
I’m going to try this this year! Need to try these products. Home gardeners are usually at a disadvantage. Have to usually make our own gizmos!
I have really enjoyed all the videos I have watched that you have done on tomato growing and this one as well. You have inspired me to get back into growing my own vegies and not just buying them from the farmers markets. Thank you for all the great education!
I'm in, sounds like a great idea.
I think I'm gonna have to clear more garden space for all the tomatoes I've started this year.
Always the case

Brian’s trellising system works great
Sounds like a great idea. Can’t wait to see the out come.
Sounds good ...
Excited to see how this works
Sounds like something I could use in my community garden where space is limited.
We've been using those clips since 2012, when we put up our first high tunnel. We do not use the pins. We clip directly to the bottom of the plant. We just learned the leaning way last year. Love it!!! Keep spreading the info on gardening!!
Being 5’1” tall, I’m definitely interested!!
I am Now looking forward to tomato growing this year. Thanks Brian.
I'm curious, how many plants do you think you'll have in that small area? Congratulations BTW on 100k subs. I hadn't been paying attention. :)
Lol thank you. About 16.
So... all the plants in one box are winding around each other now? (Or will be?)
Terrific idea, by the way. Your garden is a real inspiration to me. Thank you.
Great video and well explained. Love your garden. Be interested in chatting about working collaboratively together. Tony
This guy is fantastic. I had never grown a tomato until I watched him. Please help him out
Love your expertise. You dramatically shortening my learning curve. Thank you.
I can only HOPE that my plants grow tall enough to NEED a trellis! I'm in Florida so lots of time to grow...and BURN!
Use Indeterminate plants. Determinate plants only grow 4ft tall or so and have a limited growing time.
Annette Quintanilla I’m in central Florida and I was thinking the same thing! This is my first year trying this because of the difficulty of shopping. I thought it would be nice to have fresh tomatoes and peppers for myself and my neighbors. Now, to actually get some fruit from the plants! I’ll do my best but am doubtful. The heat and sun here is what I am worried about.
I have the same problem in California. I cover them with shade cloth 50% on hoops.
I live out in a US territory and you should see my Tiny Tim tomato plants! 6 inches tall and starting to produce lots of flowers! They're 2 and a half months old lol.
Anne McDaniel, I considered adding a shade of some sort too because the plants get 6'ish hours of sun right now but in a few more wks, it'll be BLAZING sun!
So basically you're double helix-ing tomatoes.😂 Guess if it works for DNA why not for tomatoes too. Lots of product, very little space. 👍

I have being watching your videos and I started my small tomato farm at my backyard based on your explanations. The farm is doing well except some few challenges but everything is under control now.
It started bearing fruit..
Thank you

Had no idea those poor bushes grown in the past had the potential to grow that tall.
If they keep growing they are indeterminant tomatoes. If they are bush tomatoes that only grow so high and are done, they are determinant, or their height is determined by what kind of tomatoes they are. So be sure to buy an indeterminant kind....
This system looks wonderful.
My husband was just asking what we do when the plants outgrow the trellis 😊 Great idea!
They're back in stock! Www.nextlevelgardening.tv/shop
I need that string thing! I knew this was how commercial growers grew in greenhouses, but haven't been able to find a home apparatus!
Hi ...I am new to gardening...your videos are helping me to figure this all out...thank you so much.
Yes! Ive seen these used by commersial gardeners. I need these!
Thank you for all your effort in producing such a fine way to trellis. Especially like the clamping string at base of tomato plant with winding string around the stem and extending the string up to top of trellis only to rotate back down production and keep thing off the ground in continue plants plant growth. Once was en employee of commercial 12k tomato plants with staking and pruning . Thank so for your work and efforts to teach and show others. Keep up the good work. My 3 trellis are 7 feet tall and everything growing well.
I'm just starting to garden and need all the help i can get thank you for all great video's
Thanks Brian! I love your garden wisdom! Keep it coming! I pray for you and your family daily. Your friend, Elsa.
I'm ready, let's get this trellis idea going!!!!
Thanks for sharing the DIY Vertical Trellis. Excited for your new hack.
Great video! Thank you. This will be the first year that I trellis my tomatoes!
Great video! As a newbie tomato grower in Texas, you provided lots of great information!
this method rocks. i watched a video showing a commercial operation that uses this method to manage hundreds of plants, each up to 15 meters tall. in spite of the length of the plants, the ripe fruit is always harvested at chest height, since the fruit bearing top part of the plant is continuously lowered and moved to the side to accommodate new growth. the older part of the vine is has it's fruit harvested, and is pruned of foliage, leaving a long bare stem that is allowed to lay on it's side and grows horizontally.
Yes, we need these for the home gardener!
Their in stock now! Www.nextlevelgardening.tv/shop
Thanks for the info on how to trellis tomatoes. I have learned a lot from you on “growing tomatoes”.
Love the trellis idea and the string with hooks
String system sounds fun and promising!
Love the concept of the “lower and lean” product. Want to buy for my home garden.
Theyre back in stock! Www.nextlevelgardening.tv/shop
What a great idea for those of us who have small spaces😊
I’m getting started in all this, I’m learning so much!
I have watched many of your other videos and finally found this one! Want to try this method this year
Your video was one of the first I watched at the beginning of the season. Thanks for all the tips. I have a long way to go. But feeling it!
This is my first year doing tomatoes and I'm looking forward to using this system.
I'm trying your trellis system for the first time this year. I appreciate your videos. Keep up the good work
Soooo excited to add to my garden this year plus in the new greenhouse my husband is in the process of building.
They're back in stock! Www.nextlevelgardening.tv/shop
I was looking for this info after receiving a Cherokee tomato plant gift! Thanks!
Yes we need to add these new extenders for us home gardeners
Got them in stock! Www.nextlevelgardening.tv/shop
I can’t wait to try this string and trellis! Looks like it was successful!
I just finish building your trellis and excited about seeing how this year’s tomatoes go. Thank you!!!!!
I have watched so many different tomato teachers. And nothing comes close to how you explain! Thank you for your very educational videos
Wow, thank you!
My tomato cages have not been working, so I'm very interested in making a trellis for them this year. Thank you for your wonderful video's. Darlene
Can't wait to try the string system to grow tomatoes.
Looking forward to doing this next year for our tomatoes!!!
That hook and trellis system looks like a great solution to giant tomatoes plants remaining productive. The indeterminate plants I grow that get 12 + foot tall by August are very difficult to keep upright and not bending or breaking off. Looks like a giant fishing luer..
WOW!!! Now that's a very interesting gadget for my tomato plants!
this is great I pickd my last tomatoes on New Years day. I wish I had seen this last April
Experimenting with the best tomato pruning for 19 years in San Diego, growing on steep slope.
4’x 8’ steel mesh from HD, used for concrete - sits in between two stakes vertically, 20” above ground. Clips.
Let grow first 2 shoots of each tomato plant = three trunks tomato plants. Next 2-3 shoots let root in water - future plants.
All the next shoots on three stems let grow to the first bloom, than cut tips off.
So far this gives me the best crop. I do not prune cherry tomato.
just found this video. I am starting to grow my garden since I'm home due to quarantine. Love your videos.Very informative and easy to follow. Tomatoes are my first attempt.
Excellent information and I am looking forward to building my trellises and having them ready by spring
I was late to gardening and your awesome videos. In fact your videos inspired me to start a garden. I’m so happy I did. Can’t wait for next spring to REALLY plant. This summer, too late for many plant to get started, We built 4 -8/4 raised beds. We had an unused RV parking area. ( asphalt) so we built the beds 24” high to prevent any problems with the asphalt leaching into the soil. Also lined the beds to keep soil in the boxes. I’m so pleased with what we did get planted...mostly by watching all your videos. Thank you for your informative videos. The best I’ve seen on RUclips.im a huge fan.
I will love to see a tomato plant grow around the way you said. Never heard of that system.
Can't wait to use this system this year!!
Always thankful for what I’ve been learning by watching your videos. My tomatoes are not as successful but it’s a working progress.
Im a new gardener, so I'm new to your videos. I will definitely be checking back very often!!
Never gardened before...excited to start with this type of mentoring. I will purchase these hooks as I want to grow as long as possible here in San Diego.
