Something important that they left out was a phrase the healer say to sung at the start of the dungeon "If the mages are attacked it's the tanks fault, if the healers are attacked it's the strikers fault and if the carrier is attacked is the Guild's fault".
That show that they are good and honorable people and even if sung is stronger than then it's their job to ensure that sung get out alive of the dungeon even if they all have to die.

There’s not another non national level hunter beating kargalan or beru for that matter. If each orc can take an a-level hunter youre not being consistent with scaling the dungeon boss
Just to clarify, Joohee wasn't a trash healer lol she was a B rank. Its implied that she was going to heal his limbs back in the first arc as well, But do to not having enough mana she overexerted herself. Normal hunters aren't like Jinwoo and can see a floating mana bar next to them and in a stressful situation like the statue room im sure she was panicking and not thinking about her mana
Yeah she wasn't trash as a healer, just a coward, cause she's normally not supposed to be in D rank dungeons anyway
They basically just guess how much mana they have based on how tired they are, and they can probably continue to use mana, but at the cost of their lives.
Considering she was struggling to keep her mana topped up while just healing some d rankers I'd say her performance as a healer was very subpar for someone who's supposedly B rank. Between her lack of courage and confidence she just wasnt able to do what her magic talent should have let her do.
@@accywacky2699 I wouldn’t say she was a subpar healer. The jump between A rank and B rank is pretty high. She probably couldn’t regrow his arm, but she could have stopped the bleeding if she had enough mana. Remember the skills are set. If she is a healer class, but has a low mana stat then she’s only good for short bursts powerful healing, or continuous small heals. The power scaling in this anime/mahnwa is a little finicky because they’re skills in different areas are unknown exactly.
@@accywacky2699 I don't think they have a way to "top up" mana, I dont believe its ever shown regular hunters using potions or anything. Also, IDK if your anime only or not so spoilers if you are, But considering what happens next episode to a bunch of A and B ranks im sure they all would have been struck with fear in the double dungeon as well. That's a poor representation of someone's performance

8:25 he isn't an asshole, he's following association rules which state that no one is allowed to interfere with someone else's dungeon as it could be interpreted as him stealing the spoils once he starts killing everything. This is also why he is trying to hide with his stealth skill.

The healer in the first dungeon wasnt trash, she actually did the lower gates to protect jin woo and heal him up. Although she was a coward tho

Yeah, she was B-Rank. She went into lower rank dungeons because she was too afraid of those her level (after the double dungeon, I honestly can't fault her for eventually retiring).

Just to note, the mage girl didnt actually see him. Everytime you use a skill you emit mana. She just sense mana moving around the battle field and weakening the orcs and since jinwoo wasnt with the bag she realized that it was probably him that was emitting the mana and using a stealth ability hence why she couldnt see him with her eyes.
You guys crack me up talking about his old picture ID. At 16 I was 5’7” and 140 lbs, but I had a growth spurt and got into weightlifting so when I went to renew 5 years later I was 6’1” and 200lbs. They updated the information but they don’t usually update the picture - the lady at the DMV was like “No. I won’t renew you if you don’t take a new picture, this is nuts.”
One of my best friends almost had his real ID confiscated by bouncer because of something similar. He was 5'8 160lbs when graduated. He had a growth spurt the year after so he was 6'2 230lbs, but his ID said otherwise that shit was hilarious. Everytime he'd pull it out, people would do a double take. One bouncer couldn't believe it was legit at first.

@ The important thing to remember is that Jinwoo is fiction. You know what happens when you grow six inches in a matter of weeks or months? Clothes you bought a month ago are too short, so suddenly you’re wearing capri pants and crop tops everywhere. You trip constantly because your stride has changed, you scrape your arms because your shoulders are wider than you remember, you knock stuff over because your arms are longer, you hit your head constantly because you don’t have the same clearance. And you can’t adjust because you’re still growing. College is not a great place to suddenly become a klutz. ;-)
I feel it's worth noting stories like this. Anime and fiction in general tends to exaggerate and throw out the big exceptions like they're everyday things, but it's worth remembering that these things really DO happen.
Though Jinwoo was like 24 or something at the start. Generally not gonna grow like 1-1.5 feet at that age

2 of the girls here, the fire mage and the girl with the glasses who saw Jinwoo using stealth, we've seen in the previous season, it was during the episode where Jinwoo kills Dong Suk and his strike team.

I love the design of the high orcs. It's easy to forget how cool the fantasy aspects of this show are because it's in such a modern setting. I know the gates are portals to that fantasy but like jinwoo is a necromancer you wouldn't expect buddy in casual active wear to be a necromancer. When you think fantasy and necromancy is like undead skeletal and robes and dark magic not some zoolander guy. I like the orcs have he classic big fangs but they are built like vikings and decorated with tribal paint it's such a warrior trait which i think really helps highlight the danger that each one is the level of an a rank hunter.

Something I haven't seen anywhere else in the comments, but many of the members of this team have been seen before. They accompanied Guildmaster Choi Jong-In to Jeju Island at the end of S1(Captain Son Kihoon, 2-3 of the mages, the main tank), so you know they're top-shelf. Additionally, we met Gina & Lee Bora in the girls-only coffee shop meeting mid-S1.
And while I'm at it, we also had already met both Hunter Kim Chul (now "Iron") & Hunter Park (the C-rank mage who stayed with Jinwoo & the E-ranks). They were on the White Tiger squad (along with Guildmaster/President Baek *AND* Hunter Woo Jinchul from the Association) that ran into the double dungeon to rescue whoever was left, & were the ones who found Jinwoo's body on the ground.
Just things I *finally* caught during the latest re-watch of Solo Leveling.

They are not going to explain Cha smelling ability in detail, since even in the manga Cha does not know exactly herself, but what she perceives is not actual smell (like pheromones or odor) it is instead, she can perceive Mana/Magic power through smell, and in specific Jinwoo smells so good to her because his mana is very special. Later on another Hunter appears with an even greater ability to smell mana, and he almost pass out of from the smell of powerful enemies.
He can't interfere in person at the start because of how contracts work in the world. This is the guilds gate and he can't interfere unless he is part of the guild.

What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that a lot of hunters are extremely prideful so Jinwoo waiting to the last minute to help them and even hiding himself was the safest choice for him to make as he hadn't known these people for long so he didn't know how they'd react to him outright helping them
Also because of laws, you can’t kill something in another guild’s gate unless they agree to. He didn’t want to have any legal repercussions afterwards, it’s an inner monologue that was cut from the anime
@@knaditya8228 yeah, this, if he moves too soon it could be seen as him sneaking in to poach a gate the guild paid money for...he has to leave it to the last moment so its clear he's saving them rather than poaching. He could probably have done so with issue at the gate when they got walled in by 50 high orcs but I imagine a talking orc boss is intriguing, he probably wants to give the boss a chance to talk now before he moves, he might learn something (after all who more than him knows that there are secrets to be worked out?)

One small but important change from the original, the original squad was a bit bigger: 11 A ranks and 6 B. It's not too big a switch, I think the line about who's responsible for what was more important, but it does help explain a few things. Like why they'd be more tempted to keep going forward, why those particular reinforcements would have been more tempting, and how Jinwoo managed to take advantage of the confusion to help stay hidden from most of the hunters

Cha hae-in perceives magic levels as smells, the more potent the odor the stronger the source of magical energy. Jinwoo however has that shadow monarch conquerors sticky icky pack so he just literally smells like his own exquisite aroma.

No one knows about Jinwoo's new rank outside of the people who were at the center _and_ know who he is. He was chosen because the guy who wants to make Captain was trying to flex, to show he's so competent that even an E-rank can survive in a raid he leads.
As far as Cha Hae-in's sense of smell is concerned, it's directly related to her awakening as a hunter. That's one of the details they've left out of the anime.
