U2 - One - 9/30/2023 - The Sphere, Las Vegas (Opening Weekend)
Having seen several U2 shows over the years, this one felt much different musically. That may seem like an unremarkable statement given the fact the show was played against the backdrop of a 2.3 billion dollar musical playground, but somehow, the experience felt more intimate. This wasn't the football stadium U2 super group, although theatrically that element will always be there, especially in this visually overwhelming setting. This felt like a different band that was playing for their immediate audience. Bono was quite chatty and engaging with the crowd all night, and songs like One seemed to be approached more personally.
This new venue is clearly the best in the world right now. The audio and visual experience is just other worldly. The Sphere is going to enjoy tremendous success with U2 for its launch. After this opening weekend everyone is going to want to see a show here.
