    I just built one of these; it was pretty easy to put together. My buddy and I did it in about 12 hours. I built the base ahead of time 4x4 cedar foundation on pavers. put in a gravel floor for rainage. I added a drop shelf on the bottom and an additional top shelf.

      That’s great y’all built it so quick! Sounds like so good additions. I am interested in adding some additional shelving maybe next year.

      Hi there. Does anyone know if shed anchor's would be sufficient to hold the greenhouse down?

      What are the outside dimensions of your 4x4 foundation? Is it the exact 6.7x7.8? I’m working on that now and not sure if I need to go a couple inches bigger/smaller

    Thanks for the great review and building tips. We are hoping this works well for wintering some of our plants in Pennsylvania, however we can get single digit temps here, but usually not for too long. I may have to run a warm pipe from our outdoor furnace and set it on a 35-40 degree setting to keep the plants alive if an arctic blast comes down out of Canada.
    We had seen this months ago at our local Costco and liked it but put it off for other projects, and were there yesterday and an unopened one was near the seasonal items and marked “last one $600” so we jumped right on it! Costco for the win again! Thank you again for the info!

      Wow what a deal!!
      What we did for single digit temps last year was just a small space heater at night or if it was cloudy, definitely kept it above freezing. Best wishes to you!

    This just recently went on sale for $300 off at Costco so I ordered one finally. I put in a gravel base with a 4x4 treated foundation. That took way longer than I was anticipating! About 10 hours just to get that perfect. But a good foundation will help with the build and make the greenhouse last longer. I'll be starting the actual build tomorrow. I doubt I can get this done in 15 hours. Your husband is a fast worker!

      @@jeffreyhill3373 It ended up taking me a couple of weekends to do this by myself. I didn't have a flat surface to put it together on, which I think made it way harder than it should have been.

    Putting the 4x4 on top of cinderblocks would've kept it many years from rotting.

    Hi - great video! My wife and I are very close to purchasing this greenhouse which means I am now in the planning phase. I am torn between two locations, one of which is partially under an oak tree. How has your location worked out for you? Any issues with falling branches or not enough sun in the summer when the leaves are on the tree? I've seen other videos that have me concerned about it being too hot in the summer, so I am leaning toward a location similar to where you placed your greenhouse. I appreciate any thoughts from your experience thus far.

    • @thegrace-filledgarden
      @thegrace-filledgarden  7 месяцев назад

      Hi! I have not had any issues with branches falling, I would definitely say giving it shade in the summer is a good thing. It can get VERY hot in there even if it is sunny and 75.

    I’ll be putting mine over grass. Do you think I should just do the gravel and then spray to kill the grass? And have adequate draining into the ground? Or do the landscaping tarp and then gravel?

    • @thegrace-filledgarden
      @thegrace-filledgarden  7 месяцев назад +1

      I personally would put down weed fabric or cardboard and then the gravel! I have not had any issues with drainage in mine.

      I am in zone 7. Definitely gets nice and warm during the day when it’s in the 40s outside. We haven’t had any subfreezing, daylong temperatures yet so I’m not sure how warm it will be on those days we are in the teens come January and February. Best wishes on your completion!

    Hi, did you frame the 4x4 foundation exact from the outer edges at 6'7" x 7'8" or was there any slight adjustment to compensate for the greenhouse sitting on the 4x4's? From the video it appears spot on at exact dimensions. Just thought to ask since I'm about to start this phase of the construction soon with 1/2 threaded rod anchored in concrete. Thanks!

    • @thegrace-filledgarden
      @thegrace-filledgarden  Год назад +1

      We definitely had to adjust and compensate a little bit. We attempted to line up the 4x4 foundation by placing the greenhouse in the center of those posts so there would be minor overhang but had to adjust in the end. Ultimately the outside edges of the foundation was slightly larger than the greenhouse dimensions. Hope that answers your question! Best wishes on your build!

    Is it a disadvantage that the bottom few feet aren't transparent? Can you still grow things at ground level?

    • @thegrace-filledgarden
      @thegrace-filledgarden  6 месяцев назад

      I think even in a green house that has all clear sides you’d have a hard time growing things down low because of the angle of the sun and being blocked by upper shelving.

    How is the autovent window closed if its open and Raining

    • @thegrace-filledgarden
      @thegrace-filledgarden  2 месяца назад

      I had the same concern, there were a few times last summer that it was warm enough during a rain storm that the vent was still open for it. Some rain would get in from time to time. I found that mostly the temps would drop enough when rain came through that the vent would shut. All that being said, I do not personally care for the auto vent system on the green house, I would like to replace ours with a normal manual one.

    Is it equipped with heating? What is the temperature difference between the outside and inside of the greenhouse? Is it possible to keep my jasmine plants in zone 7-B?

    • @thegrace-filledgarden
      @thegrace-filledgarden  7 месяцев назад

      I actually have a video up of how I heat my greenhouse with a little space heater during the winter. During the day if it is sunny it is VERY warm inside, perfect for Jasmine. The issue would be night time. If you used a heater at night and then perhaps frost cloth covered your jasmine when you get into single digits outside. I bet you’d be fine. I have a potted jasmine on my porch that I just bring into my garage when we get the extreme freezes.

    • @aswadhama
      @aswadhama 7 месяцев назад

      @@thegrace-filledgarden ,Ok. thank you!! Single-digit temperatures are not the norm in North Carolina, but we do occasionally have temperatures in the 20s overnight for a few hours. Currently, the plants are stored in the garage, but I'm considering setting up a greenhouse to free up some space for them. I appreciate your thorough response.
