One of the wildest facts is this was the first ever win for the number 24 in the entire history of the cup series. Only one other driver has won in the number, william byron.

Being a Jeff Gordon fan, this race will always be a sweet one. Back then, some would praised Jeff but many people hated Jeff because he rivaled Dale the 3 and even dominated over him. Watching him winning here for the first time really shuts the hater up. Thus, opening a new chapter to a grand career in his life. The beginning of the Rainbow Warrior

Being an Earnhardt fan, I was at this race and maybe it was because of seeing things through a different perspective, but I seem to remember it differently. I remember many people cheering for Gordon, especially after he won this race. Earnhardt always had his fans and his haters, it was often said “you love him or you hate him.” Gordon and Hendrick was always very tough even before Gordon came on the scene, but Gordon was far and away the most talented of the Hendrick Drivers that Earnhardt and the Field would Race against in the 90s and all the way up to 2000. But I wanna kinda walk back the Gordon vs Earnhardt idea. Gordon was very successful from 95 on or even from this point on, but Hendrick Motorsports had more than one Champion Driver on the roster with Terry Labonte being there as well. I think that the quality of equipment of bigger teams like Hendrick, vs smaller teams like RCR is and will always be the argument at least from my perspective. Now don’t get it twisted the Gordon vs Earnhardt debate is very real and as an Earnhardt fan I will say that Gordon was Great and was on a level like Earnhardt had rarely seen. Earnhardt defeated Waltrip, Bodine, Richmond, Wallace, Martin, Allison and others but looking back on it now, years later, it was more like passing of the Torch much like when Earnhardt became the Man at the twilight of Pettys career, Gordon was the man at the twilight of Earnhardts career.

Thanks to Nascar for releasing this race onto YT. I never got a chance to watch these races at the time since it was a few years before I acquired satellite tv.

One thing that some forget about this race: Gordon the year before in his first Coke 600 won the pole and finished second

The 1994 NASCAR season was the last season to have Dale Earnhardt's #3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Lumina, and the only season to have Terry Labonte's #5 Kellogg's Chevrolet Lumina, and the last season to have Jeff Gordon's #24 DuPont Chevrolet Lumina in the 1994 NASCAR Winston Cup season. Starting in the 1995 NASCAR Winston Cup season, the GM Goodwrench team switched to the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Jeff Gordon's DuPont car also switched to the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Terry Labonte's Kellogg's car also switched to the Chevrolet Monte Carlo.👍

Today (Wednesday, May 29, 1994) marks the exact 30 year anniversary of the 1994 Coca-Cola 600. Happy 30th Anniversary to this race!

This was a fun race to watch and much better than today's Nascar. Better looking cars and racetrack with some night racing. Rusty almost had it until Gordon's team used some pit strategy.

I miss the era of Luminas and Thunderbirds. Both were such awesome looking race cars! And the Pontiac Grand Prix wasn't too shabby either.

"Do you think Jeff Gordon is a natural?"
As someone born in 1993, I can't imagine living in a time where someone could ask that unironically.
