    I’m in Guanacaste Costa Rica and this board in 6’2 has been the standout. From Tamarindo knee high mush to 2’ overhead Avellanas and Marbella. I’m 5’10 175lbs and i normally surf 30-34 liters. The 6’2 is 40 liters but does not sacrifice performance and catches waves easily. The only thing, on steeper waves I wished the nose was just a tiny bit narrower. Maybe FireWire will make a more performance version.

    Just got this board in a 6’10 for here in Southern California. Coming from a 9’4 and 9’0 Longboard for the past 3 years I felt it was safer. I’m about 83kg.

      Sweet.. I originally had the 6'10" and it was a heck of a lot of fun but I have a really good 7'0" Egg that' sgot a bit more refined volume distribution and a single fin so decided to get a smaller one .. How are you liking it?

      hey guys im about 200lbs (90kg).. i have been riding an 8 ft Odysea Log ( 86 liters). i surf in huntington beach most of the time.. and i feel that i could step down to a smaller board and the eager beaver caught my eye. having a hard time decided between the , 6'4, and th e 6'6...

    Happy New Year - I’ve been enjoying you reviews- have you seen or ridden the FireWire Seaxe?
    I purchased one last summer unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of opportunity to surf it - would love to see you do a review of that. That might be a good one for 2019

      Chas Donahoe Thanks for the feedback. Glad you are enjoying the reviews. Happy new year to you too and hope you had a great Christmas. Yeah I have been eyeing up the seaxe a few times original looked at the 7'10" but then looking at the 7'2" as I could probably still sick dive that and it's not overly loaded with volume so would still perform. I have heard great things about them though. People saying that they turn really well and paddle good too. I wish FireWire would send me boards like some of the guys doing reviews then I would do them all :-) I unfortunately have to buy mine and run out of places so put the credit. I had another subscriber say he really liked his seaxe and it's a great board. Would be interested to know how you find it and what sizes yours is what fin set up etc so please tell me as Yoh get some more ride time. I also really enjoy that orange 7 foot piggy midlength that I ride as a single fin so another reason I haven't added a seaxe to the quiver. Certainly been looking at them a lot though do if I spotted one on a deal or second hand I would likely buy one. Cheers buddy. Keep me posted on how you get on

    @GO SURF, great reviews man, inspired me to buy my GB a year ago - so thanks for that!
    I was wondering if you've tried the GB with a Twin + trailer setup? I've been mainly surfing mine with the FCS 2 Performer PC Quads although found they are a little more sluggish in mushy surf than the AM PC Aircores I previously used (which made the board fly). Just keen to know if you've tried it as a twin and what your thoughts are on this fin setup for this type/style of board. Tks J

      Hey mate. Cheers for the feedback and sorry for the late reply. I hadn't tried it as a twin or twin plus myself. I'm a big fan of getting the right board with the right shape and right fin placment to get the most out of those set ups but some boards arn't too fussy. The GB is probably pulled in enough in the tail for it to work so could be worth a try. Getting something like a Lost MR Cali Twin would be the ideal but wont cost too much to try the beaver out as one. Maybe you can even borrow some. I woud say it's definitely worth a try.

    You make that board sound so good. I'm still searching, I don't know how you can afford to buy all these boards. I am being so careful with my next decision as you know because I want the right board. I purchased a 7' popout funboard off a friend really cheap. 7' x 21 1/2 x 2 3/4 = 47ltr in PU. It is so basic but so forgiving, easy to turn etc. The build quality is good but it is a bit fragile. I don't think I can go shorter than a 7' board, that feels quite short to this old fella. But i trolling through some better quality boards similar to the PU above and came across the LFT Firewire Vacay that has a very similar plan shape and dimensions with a bit more volume because it is 2" longer. Have you heard anything about it or tried one?

      Hi Sorry for the late reply just finding comments that slipped the net in studio. yeah for sure mate that's why I do the channel to try steer others in a good direction to avoid lots of expense too. I'm in the hole for a lot of my purchasing luckily dont have a wife and kids etc. Had a 7'10" Vacay and wasn't as good as I epected. Expecially since it's a more detuned and sensible shape than a beaver in general. Seaside and Beyond or CI Mid ot Chilli Mid Stregth lost smooth operator lost Party crasher could good for you expecially the newer seaside and beyond 6'10" has 49 ish I think.

    Great review! I am looking into buying this board. Still not sure about the size. I am 75kg and ride a 6’0 Firewire Midas on good days but looking for something with a lot more volume to ride on smaller days at the pointbreak in front of my house. I am just not sure if the 6’4 would be to meaty and feel too big. Hope you can help me with this one! Thanks and keep doing more reviews!

    • @lawson45uk
      @lawson45uk  5 лет назад

      Hey mate.. Thanks for you feedback and support.. Yeah look it's really going to depend on what your trying to get out of it.. If your 75KG and used to a Midas that's 35 litres you could go the 6'2" beaver if your worried about it being too bulky but if your really keen on this board and want it to grovel they do ride up in size relatively well so even 6'4" would be ok.. I had a 6'10" and it was still a lot of fun.. Always hard to say but the tail pulls in heaps and the volume is taken out of the rails at the tail and the concaves are super deep so there are some features that help keep it feeling sensitive in the back.. I spoke to one guy that's had evos and all sorts and he only rides the beaver now he said it's only when its hollow and well overhead he struggles to get the nose deep on duck dives. I think at 75 kg you may well like the 6'2" just that bit better but it's super hard to say when your down to that sort of detail.. The 6'4" is a very full deck so yeah you might find it just a touch bulky.. Can you have a look at them anywhere?

      Erasmo Wong excellent mate. Glad your stoked. It's definitely a board that upsizes quite well. It actually performs really well of the tail aye and you can still duck dive it fine. 👍🏻

    Cool, thanks for the review, I´m considering buying one us a step up from Longboard or for bigger days, but I´m not sure if I should get the 6.2 , 6.4. or 6.6. - I´m 75 kg I´m looking for something which I can duck dive, so I tend towards the 6.2. but seems quite short for me coming from a log, so maybe a 6.6. would be better but I´m not sure if I can duck-dive it? Whats your experience with duck diving? Thanks and Cheers

    • @lawson45uk
      @lawson45uk  Год назад +1

      Hi mate yeah it’s not the most easiest board to duck dive but kinda depends on the waves too. I could duck dive the 6’10” sufficiently at the weaker local waves but even the 6’4” wasn’t ideal for me in a powerful wave so really depends on what your after. If you say it’s for bigger days specifically there may well be better boards in my personal opinion though that beaver does make sense for someone that’s used to long boards. Perhaps something a bit more balanced with a more narrow nose like a quiver killer might be a better choice. Perhaps even the Sunday could be an option if you want to stay single fin and have decent volume. I didn’t really think of that as a step up but some people are saying they are using them in the longer sizes single fin for good waves. Quiver killer probably be more tried and tested though. Hope that helps. Cheers.

    • @lawson45uk
      @lawson45uk  Год назад +1

      Hi mate. Yeah it’s obviously not going to quite be a longboard in terms of early in and glide but yeah I remember having lots of fun on smaller days. You can almost nose ride it. So yeah definitely could be on your radar as a mid length for a range of waves. Turns good and good wave count. I think it’s fairly high volume but that suited me. I definitely remember having a lot of fun on it. Hope that helps. Cheers

    Hi guy, i enjoyed both your videos about the greedy beaver. I m looking forward to get one as well. It should complete a smalll waves midlength (8'0 x 23 x 3 1/4) I was thinking of a 6'6. i intend to use it from waist high to overhead and as a quad mainly. what do you think? should it click? thanks

      Yves MEINRAD Hi :) cheers. Yeah for sure thats a good call. If your used to the 8 midlength those are nice generous dims to the 6'6" sounds like a great fit. I would have been happy with a 6'6" myself. It will handle overhead no bother too tail has heaps of grip. 👍 Guessing your in the average surfer 80 plus kg like a lot of us?

    • @lawson45uk
      @lawson45uk  5 лет назад +1

      Dominic Tschupp Yeah I have had a Creeper really cool board nice flat rocker pulled in round tail with a pretty veed out bottom from what I remember. When I got it I was trying to choose between the two. The creeper turns nicely and has a nice glide to it. Another fairly easy to turn board too. Hard to remember the differences in real detail but the creeper is more like a shrunk down midlength but more balanced in its nose and tail width and volume distribution. Both great boards to be honest creepers are generally a wee bit narrower in the middle and not as pulled in at the tail but a bit more pulled in nose than the braver. Creeper is good for small to overhead too so pretty versatile. Creeper would make a really cool single fin too shame they weren't a 4 plus slider box. Quite tough to decide between the two first time round. People seem to resoundingly like the beaver though. I picked the creeper for the smaller nose and more balanced shape and volume distribution but there both great boards after riding both. Beaver is surprisingly high performance when you get used to riding it off the tail but not had that out heaps of times. Both boards well worthy of a look 👍 cheers.
