@@ChicagoReacts This is one of my favourite games, and do in fact come back to it every year or so to play it again in a different way, I once finished an entire playthrough of the whole game in a little over a day and a half or so, it's quite short, though it obviously does take a bit longer on a first time playthrough, still very good and surprising how much content they can fit into the game, especially for its age.
OOOOOH, I didn’t know that! See, I couldn’t bring myself to even look at it after the tts show was forced into torpor. I’ll have to actually watch the show now.... incidentally I actually started to look into the world of darkness separately on my own recently... as the comment on this video may indicate.
Ah, bit of a shame you didn't watch the rest of the video, there were some great outtakes left. The Alfabusa webseries Kit talked about? From what I understand, it wasn't exactly based on this game. Instead, both the webseries and VtmB were based on the same tabletop rpg setting, the World of Darkness. There's a bunch more material for it, too. More videogames, books, you name it.
World of Darkness is rad.. my first experience playing it, my almost-max strength Hunter got thrown around a hospital like a ragdoll by a 12 year old (looking) Vampire. Good times.
@@EternalVirgin Hunter is essentially vtm hard-mode, as humans are much easier to kill. It really depends on how forgiving your storyteller is, imo.. (mine isn't, but I'm alright with that since character death is just another plot hook)
@@TheInspektork yeah the lore even already established that the most likely ending to a Hunter's life is dying by the claws of a monster, it's literally humans (superhumans?) against insurmountable odds
@@EternalVirgin Yeah, that sounds about right. Said ragdolled character died, during a car-chase where I jumped from one vehicle to another and the driver took us both off a cliff at a bridge entrance lol. Went out like a champ though.
Vampyr is pretty good too. You play a doctor in London during the Spanish Flu outbreak right after WWI. You're turned into a vampire and you have to figure out why. The fastest way to get xp to level up is by draining a story NPC completely dry, but if you do that to too many NPCs the area they live in will turn into a chaotic mess that falls to the Spanish Flu. Or worse, Vampirism.
I remember trying to be a good guy in the first playthrough and I ended up just murdering everybody because I needed the blood to fight that bitch with the mask and grotesque arm.
That game is addicting. First time I played it, I couldn't get into it, but after I came back to it and played for longer than an hour. I couldn't stop. Just getting sucked into it is worth the trip. And yeah, those monster squad clips made me remember that movie, watching Dracula curse at a 5 year old and kill cops trying to get to her is still awesome. Also best quote in the movie "Wolfmans got nards!"
The soundtrack alone is so powerful to me that it is like a god damn time machine, it wracks my brain with nostalgia and transports me to 2005 in mere moments. The pain from it is a good pain, and quite addictive
Basically, it goes like this: Camarilla: Lawful Evil: Pretty much the illuminanti with vampires. At least they kind of keep a relatively civil status quo. Anarachs: Neutral Evil: They are pretty idealistic and they do raise some good points about how BS the Elder system is and even treat mortals fairly well. Downside, they're two free-willed for their own good. Sabbat: Chaotic Evil: As bad as bad gets. Worship the First Murderer, want to turn humanity into slaves/food/furniture and seek to bring about an age of darkness.
As a bit of a correction: VtM: Bloodlines is based on a tabletop game called the World of Darkness. It's actually been through several editions since then (including essentially a complete reboot with the "new" World of Darkness in 2004), with the most recent version being called "Chronicles of Darkness." While a lot of the specifics have changed, much remains the same at its core. If you're interested in tabletop RPGs and enjoy a more "urban fantasy" feel like the Dresden Files or the Laundry, I strongly recommend giving it a look.
Chronicles of darkness (previously known as new world of darkness) has not replaced the old World of Darkness. Both settings are getting new books published for them, with each having books released this year.
If you didnt notice The biker looking vampire with the big beard and long hair that laughs about you being a malkavian is John Dimaggio Famous for playing Bender from futurama, jake the dog from adventure time, and many other iconic roles.
To answer the question, birth control and estrogen pills don't really do anything for a vampire in this setting. Not only because you're already infertile since you're an undead bloodsucker, but also because your body reverts back to the way it was at the end of every new night. But you could ask a friendly Tzimisce to fleshcraft your appearance into whatever you want. Key point being "friendly", which is not common amongst that clan.
There's supposed to be a Bloodlines 2 coming out even though Troika Games didn't survive the botched original release of VTM:B. It's one of the best TTRPG rules systems ever, because player balance is built in with the way you have to buy your skills, and the way the disciplines are distributed between the clans. That system is common across all World Of Darkness games. You can't have the situation which is possible in D&D for instance where one player's character can be OP compared to everyone else from jump due to lucky dice rolls during character creation, resulting in them being able to steal the game unless their character gets killed. In Vampire, or Werewolf, or the others I haven't played, everyone has the same amount of points to put into their skills, abilities and disciplines at creation, and gets the same amount of experience from each session to boost their characters with.
World of darkness the verse that vtm takes place in is the grimdark of the current era going back compared to the grimdark of the far future which is 40k. You would like the lore.
I'm a lady (male), vampire (human), who takes birth control (Steroids). The werewolf dome is the single most frustrating part of a game that I've ever been forced to play through.
As someone who never played it, but have seen playthrough of it, I can confirm that it's a total masterpiece of an RPG. When it works, anyway. The engine of the game is old. As in, 2004 brick computer, old. That, and the combat is..... Let's just say there's a reason why people remember it fondly for it's Roleplay than it's combat.
If you do play it, get the unofficial patch! It’s easy to install and it works on Steam copies of the game. Plus it helps fix a lot of bugs and animations and stuff.
This is not a video idea but you can use it as one. As some may know unfortunately one of our favorite RUclipsrs has passed TECHNOBLADE and has made a video to his fans
I know you guys at Chicago Reacts probably didn’t want to hear this but, since you enjoyed his videos. I sadly fret to inform you, Technoblabe has sadly passed away. It is a bit of a shame that the vampire got bought even if it does mean that we might get another vampire video game. Recommendation to all who go for a first time, official patch+. and clan quest mod on your second time round
"So Caine dis-Abeled his brother. By murdering him with a fucking rock." What a line.

World of Darkness is like Buffy, where Dungeons & Dragons is Fantasy.
