Watched this today. Made me break out my old De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest albums...Rest in peace, Hip Hop. Perhaps some future generation will take it back to where it began. With the exception of a few groups, this form of Hip Hop is all but dead.

Before this album came out, they were a dance crew. First time I ever saw them was in a Freestyle Session Bboy video circa 1997. This crew has real bonafied hip hop roots.
The Black Eyed Peas used to not just make great music, but also they added important messages to their lyrics. Today the only thing they sing about is Party and other not important things.
Tired of the "they sold out" comments. What they did was just a natural progression of their energy. If you good at something, get paid for it. Now, in 2018, they are doing what they started off doing, using their money to put out a bunch of new hot joints on YT, and didn't lose their minds in the process.
This was the peak of BEP before Fergie. I remember seein these cats show up at all kinds of small events- underground hip hop parties, to asian-american college events.

BEP in this video is all talking about expanding new sound territories, reaching new peaks and exploring uncharted territory...haven't you all seen the video? That's what exactly they did thereafter. Did you expect them to keep recording material similar to their first 2 albums forever? You might not like where they reached when experimenting, but at least recognize they were saying they were going to change sounds eventually since day zero. Also, it really paid well. They went for it and were succesful. You'd also do the same.
If BEP was still making these joints they would be broke and wouldn't have expanded their creativity. You can always revisit these dope joints anytime.
