Still one of my favorite final fantasys right next to 7, the amount of care that went into the game is shown through how much you can do, and how much of an emotional response you have to everything happening, gotta be honest the ended caught me off guard, the hero doesn't get the ending he wanted, and being honest, I cried a few tears in that last scene the impact and the unsettling feeling that Noct died to be with his lover again is chilling and something I was not expecting from an FF game
Honestly what got to me the most about the ending was that it...wasnt really his choice. Like, it was a gut-punch of a revelation to understand that this was what the prophecy ALWAYS foretold, that all the time spent playing the game with these characters looking towards the future, working to fix everything currently wrong with the world and making plans to rebuild their home afterwards was just...doomed from the start. Even if some people argue, with some good points, that Square didnt build up Luna and Nocts relationship nearly enough, it came across to me at least like the whole game was building us up to hurt in that final scene anyway bc of the way bonds between the bros culminated in...this. respected but resigned tragedy...
