It was never the studio who called the game a Halo killer, it was just on the front of one magazine and that sentince started to live a life on it's own and still haunts the series nowdays.
It's unfortunate the series ended on such a mediocre note. Kill zone has an amazing world and setting, it's just too bad the games story couldn't match it
thats true and all, but don't even get me started on this game's knock off. It's called halo, and it is very low effort. and they also milked like, 7 games from the series.
I agree. Probably should've ended with 3 or Mercenary on PS Vita. Sony has nothing like Killzone or Resistance today. They'd likely just make them live service focused crap now anyways.
@@Gruntvcnaw, knowing Sony they’d make it a third person interactive movie walkathon where you spend 45% of your playtime squeezing through tight spaces to hide loading screens.
It's really unfortunate. Every Killzone story is basically "Helghast Bad" with very little nuance. Would have cool to get a game from the Helghast point of view to make to story less of a "Morally Grey Good Guys" vs "Ugly Evil Bad Guys".
I was a huge fan of the first three games, but this one was very mediocre. To me, the biggest issue was the lack of "war". What I loved about the first three games was the gritty feel of being a part of a big war. Here, in Shadow Fall, it was just a dumb generic shooter without any feel of escalating conflict.
I think this might be one of the only games I can think of where the protagonist you play as the entire game gets straight up murdered near the end and then you play as a different character out for revenge. The only other I can think of is Red Dead Redemption.
The "next gen" feature of this game was that it didn't need aim assist because the devs stated something like...."the resolution is so crisp you can aim yourself".
The irony is, swiping on the touchpad worked far better in Warframe than in this game that was meant to showcase the feature. Shadowfall did make neat use of one new feature of the brand-new, at the time, DualShock 4. With audologs playing over the built-in speaker while the player explores a spooky space station where, apparently, the dead speak. Apart from these two games, the only time I remember the touchpad being used was in Blue Estate, to sweep the protagonist's hair out of the way when it fell forward and obstructed the action. Solving a problem created on purpose by the developers.
They change the formula too much and wanted it to apeal to more people but it hurted them more because it lack the one thing the series was good at, being different.
Shadowfall absolutely hurt me. I LOVED Killzone 2 and 3 so SO much, amidst the MW2/3/WaW etc days I was the ONLY kid playing Killzone and I fucking loved it. Don't get me wrong I liked/love the old CoD titles but Killzone was ALWAYS my go to and when the PS4 got announced and that a new Killzone was coming I was beyond over the moon. You couldn't stop me from talking about Killzone for weeks upwards to a month. Then Shadowfall came out. I enjoyed it, but so so so many people didn't- and for many it was their first introduction to Killzone as it was a PS4 release title. It hurt to see the game basically die on release. I would give anything for a Killzone 1/2/3 remaster with functional online. My runner up would be MAG (Massive Action Game) i'd do anything to get a remake from them but sadly their studio went under permanently and the modders working on a MAG reboot/private server basically have too many projects they're working on- on top of the community having reputation for abandoning revival/remake projects. Your video sparks joy, but I feel only sadness.
i really liked how it looked, i expected it to be harder, longer, to feel more "isolated" and threatened by the environment and the situations, like the first killzone, worth playing in the hardest difficulty, where you could walk maps that felt huge, and without the numbers or the tools to be "immortal" you had to fight alone most of the time, i remember how fast my hearth moved when i used to be lost on some levels, facing lots of enemies, scared, and trying every approach possible to clear a zone, also the checkpoints where to far one from the other, i hated that, lol, dying meant to lose lots of progress

I'll never forget that first time i saw these graphics on console, almost blew me away as much seeing Oboeshoes playing "Clive Barker's Jericho" would.
Killzone's plot has always been weird. They made the enemies space Nazis, but it took until the third game for them to do anything evil. Before then they just had Treaty of Versailles sympathy.
Yea but COD is consistently mid, they just have an outrageous monetization model that demands wayyy too much money and store that gets goofier than fortnite. This is just… trash.
Killzone: Shadowfall is all style, no substance. I honestly want to see a game set between 3 and this one following Sev and the gang as galactic fugitives.

In order to match up with Halo, Killzone was willing to kill itself as well.
That's what you call dedication.
At least Killzone knew it was time. Halo on the other hand, is just a corpse hooked up to life support because 343 won't let it die.
