Wish we could have seen more live photography of the stone itself, but wow, that red. What a glorious stone. And yes, colored gemstones, precious colored gemstones, have been terribly undervalued by the belief that diamonds are "rare" by the oligarchy of the De Beers company and that diamonds are (falsely) the rarest and therefore, most precious gem.
to be fair, when (most) folks compare colored gemstones like this ruby to diamonds...they are thinking "clear, colorless diamonds...and this ruby blows away (price wise, per carat) any colorless diamond of the same size...the only "diamonds" that exceed the cost per carat of this ruby would be intense red, blue or green "colored" diamonds
How s going ? everyone, I have seen some comments below, said about that ruby stone quality, I trust this is one of the top 3 Ruby stone in the world, also someone's comments said the bidders from this auction are stupid, one year later from that auction, one collector from Dubai have already make a offer USD $ 33,000,000 for that.ruby , thats made someone's comment looks not wise .
Beacuse that's not the real one, it's a similar one which cannot be determined to be real or fake through the screen due to strategic lighting and the shape and color is changed slightly to throw off rival bidders who want to purchase online & or people too ignorant too not bid because it looks unsymmetrical and or on the small chance that it could be stolen, in that case they will not know what the actual shape or Dimensions is which sounds harsh and extreme but are pretty simple safeguards, copycat diamonds are actually real diamonds they're just not worth as much as the one you're actually bidding on, the bidders who show up in person get a photo of it ("the actual gem") locked behind a case (the photo being locked behind the case so you can't steal the photo 😂) and all technology is temporarily taken before the auction. People bidding online (if the option is even available) are told the images of the gem are potentially not the real one but the copycat one which is similar enough or slightly different enough to the real one that you know what you're buying assuring the real one is perfect, (it's never the real one in the images) Taking a picture of the bidder photo and then having them find out will result in a huge fine.. or jail time... if you haven't purchased the gem. You can also remain anonymous or say who you are for clout....

love the pink and creamy pink roses in the vase in the back ground. the only use that ring is good for is money laundering. but the model left quick! LOLOL like the size of the ruby. like the trillion cut diamonds on the sides. not sure about the clarity of the ruby. looks treated. but whatever. its somebody elses money
I have one Burmese Ruby Cabochon worn by my grandfather when he was a Bishop in an Aglipay church in my country the Philippines 🇵🇭 anyone interested let me know .
Estelita Tibayan does it have a GIA grading report and Gubelin Grading report indicating it is a pigeon blood red ruby? Did you know a large pigeon blood red ruby can feed all the hungry people in the Philippines and your grandfather just choosed to keep it to himself. I guess it isn't a pigeon blood red otherwise he would have sold it and give the proceeds to the charities.
it is an investment only stupid people don't know how to invest in art and jewelry! That ring today is probably worth at least $30 million dollara coz it is one of a kind like the Mona Lisa painting and ignoramus and the poor people can't comprehend that which is the reason why very few people are rich coz you need to be a financial genius with basic common sense to be rich.
Chris h. Well think about it this way: This is a Burmese ruby of a top pigeon blood color; the most sought after hue. Now if you know a lot about rubies, you know that rubies over 10 carats are rare, so rare in fact almost each one has sold for well over $250,000 a carat at auction. Rubies do not get large because the element chromium that gives it it’s red hue is a crystal growth inhibitor. In faceting a very hopeful yield is 1/3. So best case scenario the original gem grade uncut ruby was a staggering 80 carats which is mind bogglingly large for a ruby. It is also unheated, which further pushes it into only 10% of rubies in the world. Now there are inclusions, but this ruby has the radiance and clarity of at least a AAA grade, there is no such thing as a flawless ruby because how they grow always causes inclusions. This gem is an absolute treasure and is a minority even in many minority categories. Burmese origin, unheated, over 10 carats, natural florescence and glow (which indicates a low iron content) and minor inclusions. I believe this ruby should be in a museum its so spectacular.
