@@BahjatAlaadel didn't seem to be rusty. Same car as yours. I spent too much time trying not to damage the bore of the arm and in the end I resorted to doing that.
I'm in the middle of doing a powder coating (prepping) and yeah those rear trailing arms WTF my buddy with his 20 ton press we got one out but just couldn't get the 2nd one so drill and hacksaw like you're doing is the only way.
@@BahjatAlaadel My first mistake was using a large socket that had a bit of a rounded lip, and was about maybe 42.3mm outer diameter, and that was the first mistake. Attempting the 2nd bushing of the first arm the press was going in sideways and once it went sideways it was over so I didn't continue. Will go with torch & saw method which I'm comfortable doing fortunately I was able to find a bearing that was exactly 43mm outer diameter to use as a "pressing die". So I'll attempt that on the 2nd trailing arm. Depending on how the hacksaw method goes I may not bother with a press except for installation. Thanks for posting a video. Videos take a long time and add a ton of time to the work day.
It's just all-purpose oil. It's called 3 in one. It's a multi-purpose oil. You use it for door hinges or anything like that. You can get it at any hardware store and it's just to get so that you don't bind up when you're trying to line up the splines and get it started.
I bought it on ebay, search for "27 Pcs Press & Pull Sleeve Kit Bush Bearing Removal Installation Repair Tool Set" they're around $100. And just oil all the threads before you start to make it easier. 😎
There is about 20% more road feel, but it's also the condition of the road you're driving on 😊 the worst mod for harshness is poly engine and transmission mounts. The vibrating is terrible 😔 I tried it and went back to stock mounts.
@@BahjatAlaadel ok thanks. Did you get the Garagistic poly engine mounts? I was thinking of getting those but if it’s going to be that harsh then forget it.
Yes they are Garagistic mounts, but maybe it just because it's the 3.5l engine. But if you want to try them, I'm happy to send them to you. Find me on IG @obsidianm5
Awesome work It's hard to find People Who know what they're doing especially with old BMW . My problem is the bmw mechanics here in East Coast a bunch of pricks and that's why I take my e28 m5 to Volkswagen mechanics they're more Enthusiastic to work on your car than BMW mechanics
Thank you, my hope is to provide a resource to those who need it. I agree, something happened and much of the pride and etiquette of being a German auto mechanic. I have a backlog of episodes, but if you have a question about a particular system let me know. Do you still have the self levelling system in yours? Cheers. IG: @obsidianm5
@@BahjatAlaadel The speed gauge and the rpm gauge do not move I changed the battery and gears an nothing is working . The battery was installed by a computer technician who solder it for me and I did the installation of the gears and Reinstall the gauge cluster to the vehicle where I had a video that I recorded to guide me back
Are there any lights on cluster? Does the odometer turn over the mileage when you drive? Could be fuse 6, sensor or connector in the differential. Does it ever work? and if so have you smacked the dashboard above? and does it blip?
I wish the outer ring of my trailing arm bushing came out that easy.
Do you live in a snowy land? Rust is deadly for these cars. What's your project car? 😊

excellent content.. I am genuinely surprised that this channel has no bigger hype..
Thanks mate! You working on a project?
I used a few m36 washers and the original 36mm nut to pull the hub in the bearing, just adding a washer everytime net nut reaches the splines
That's a brilliant solution. I like simple work arounds. Thanks for sharing. If you have pictures or a video let me know. @obsidianm5

Mate it was a mission, I found out that the best chance is to heat it up heaps in the press if you can't stomach the saw 😜. All the best 👍🏼

What type of oil did you use on the splines for the rear hub assembly?

All the best and thanks for keeping these cars on the road! 😀
What difference do you notice using poly trailing arm bushings? What is the advantage of using poly over stock?
It's only useful if you're going to lower the suspension a lot or your racing on a track. It lets you adjust the camber and toe for the rear wheels.
@@BahjatAlaadel ah ok thanks. Can you notice a difference in terms of harshness when driving? Will you be tracking?

I don't know where to take my instrument cluster to get fixed do you have any suggestions
Has the odometer stopped? Or does the tachometer needle randomly jump around?
