Gorgeous sound, friend!! By any chance do you have knowledge how does the Pontus ii compare to the Gustard R26? Some are praising the R26 as even better than Venus ii or Terminator ii but I recently also read that there are aspects where even the Ares ii is better than the Gustard. I have the Ares ii and adore the 3D sound and the natural spacious presentation... in which ways would you say the Pontus improves? Thanks so much!

Pontus II sounds great now compared to the previous model, IMO. The sound difference is not that big to my ears so I just spend less for this one and this is running on my secondary setup only. Thanks.
Hi boss. Is there a big jump from ares to pontus? Thinking of trying r2r but cant audition denafrips here in Sydney as dacman is there in melbs. I’m loving my ifi zen on signature (love the ifi sound) and been using it for more than a year. Aria 926 and a roksan k3. Thinking of qutest or try r2r. People are saying that pontus is the way to go for a mid tier system. Is it more refined than ares
Hello...yeah there is a big improvement from ARES2 to Pontus 2. Before the difference to Pontus I is not that much. If I compare my old Terminator with Pontus II, they both sounds great with old termi being more natural and warmer....Pontus II have a lot of details to my ears :)
Hi, i Have Topping E50 and also Pontus II. E50 it's a great desktop DAC i have it in my desktop Hifi connected between my computer and a Parasound/Wharfedale system. So nice DAC great sounding but without the soundstage and detail & Smoothness of the Pontus. I think you don't need nothing expensive than the E50 for a Desktop system and i have a lot of DACs here from topping, SMSL and others
@@sgonz2016 Which others DACS did you test? I like for example SMSL SU9N and SMSL DO200 more because it sounds smoother and has bigger soundstage well thats what i hear in some clips. Denafrips Ares 2 is also interesting

With your rigs and listening sessions with the 2 DACs I would like to get your opinion on which will better complement my system. Also, in case I go with Ares2, will I be missing much SQ improvement? Would appreciate your comment. My simple system: Amp: Luxman L-507uXII CD player: Marantz 6007 Streamer: Bluesound Node Speakers: B&W 704S2 with REL T9X sub

I'm interested in your view of the pontus ii vs ares ii. Is it a large change in sound? as in if you changed the dac could your family easily say the stereo sounds different? or is it more subtle differences? I'm on the fence between the two... thanks for doing all these videos - been fun to watch.
Hi, thanks for watching....pontus 2 to my ears is closer to terminator....nice soundstage and wider than ares2.....pontus 1 was different and i never liked the sound.
@@random_ramblings IMHO, they are very close.....That is for the old Termi.....for the new Termi Plus, I could say the gap is not that far either....Maybe if you do not have super high end speakers and amps, you might not notice the difference at all. :)
The music playing is DSD128....!!!! OK. BUT ....WHY the 44K1 light is on..............................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has nothing to do with DSD...!! 44.1K is for Flac, PCM, APE etc....! SO i am asking , WHY the 44K1 is lit..
