Ikigai Machine - Immersive Puzzle Room by DeafBlind Artist (WIP)

The Ikigai Machine is an immersive story-based adventure designed by myself and other DeafBlind artist collaborators. It shares a story about an adventure in a rocket journey to a New Earth, but the New Earth has no air, without air there's no sound. It's a metaphor for my life growing up in a world without sound as a DeafBlind artist. There are tactile puzzles and we incorporate universal design into every stage of the project. We use 3D printers and microelectronics and LED lights to create an immersive multi-sensory experience that we hope is engaging and accessible for all abilities and ages.

Half way into the video, Myles, a white male with brown hair, green eyes, wearing a black shirt with large bold rainbow-colored text that reads "ALL THE SENSES" appears "Picture-In-Picture" on top of the video that continues to tour the STARSHIP. Myles is using American Sign Language and talking at the same time (SimCom).
There is a display that shows large white text "LAUNCH ACTIVATED" followed by a number counting down from 10 to 1, and then displays a rocket launch video from the view of the rocket looking down at the boosters during take off. Attached to one of the walls, the camera moves closer to an angular STARSHIP console with hexagon and half hexagon tiles that glow around their perimeters. Each tile contains different buttons, switches, joysticks, and a fuel rod inserted into one. The person holding the camera moves the rod from one hole to another. They also play with the joystick which springs back, LED lights respond to the motion of the joystick. At the end of the video the camera zooms in onto the display once more where there is a description of the puzzle room.
