Thank you! I feel like the only two options are getting better and getting worse - so I choose getting better! I’m always trying to start over and find new approaches, or digging up old ones worth revisiting :)
Nice luminous, carrying voice, and you're courageous to post it with this Silver thing going on and that I've just discovered today... You somewhat remind me of Stephen O'Mara, with a bit less squillo and ease, but this is still nice and I enjoyed it.
Thank you kindly! Yes it was absolutely nerve-racking to record this knowing it would get all that negative attention, but it just winds up making it easier to sing on stage. Once you sing on RUclips, there's no such thing as an intimidating venue anymore haha I've been getting more comfortable in front of the camera and I never stop trying to improve how I sing, so you may want to check out some more recent stuff. :)
@@MisterOpera I certainly will. Actually, I'm a bit dizzy today because I've just found out your channel and TIO's archives and I'm going back and forth from one to the other, reading all the appalling comments left... I entered your channel via the "TiO's legendary anonymity comes to an end" video... I already knew Jeremy Silver since the Mr Cafiero days but as I only commented on my idol Rosa Ponselle, I never got into problem as he likes her too... There are commented videos on their channels but not thoroughly theoretical as in yours. I'm particularly interested in the "provocative video" "Rescuing Old School singing - with New School Singing!" and can't wait to watch the "Constriction will set you free: New School Singer lesson 4". The main issue in vocal terminology is to define terms : does contriction mean certain tension in the larynx walls ? An approximation of those walls ? I'll see when I check the latter video ! As for my comparison to Stephen (not Joseph !) O'Mara, I forgot to say you're still young and you have plenty of time for developing your squillo and the "torrentiality" of your voice. ruclips.net/video/nKpcnZenyao/видео.html For your ears' delight I hope ! :)
Constriction would be any time you narrow a space the sound has to pass through. The vocal tract stays in tune by changing shape because it doesn’t have much range of motion for getting shorter and longer. So it’s actually got three levels of constrictors not even including the epilarynx and false folds, or the palatoglossus (the ring of muscle with your uvula in the middle). You could break those constrictors down further into individual muscles. Singing revolves around managing constrictions, and for some reason I don’t understand, when you tune them just right they actually feel open and free. It’s weird.
Oh I should add that the reason I think it matters and we should say that’s what needs to happen, is that when people actually do open their throat it sounds really awful. Like, extremely bad and really out of tune.
@@MisterOpera I think I got what you mean : ad hoc constriction, according to the time T's needs during a particular emission process vs constant voluntary constriction as what I hear in Martinelli's emission, which seems to me piped, falsely squillante, as opposed to Lauri Volpi's natural squillo which seems to come from a freer, more "open", relaxed throat (sorry, I can't find other words even though equivocal like "relaxed" or "open"...).
Sorry, but this sound is pushed through the nose. “This is Opera” is absolutely right and his argument certainly doesn’t boil down to loudness/softness.
Bullshit. I do plenty of nasal singing in contemporary. Nasality will yield the 6th and 7th overtones. Go ahead and run a spec. Your comment is partisan, not based on observation. You want me to stop demonstrating and demanding demonstrations, so you figure insults will do the trick. You’ll say anything to make me stop.
darklord220 Omg haha this is also Jeremy Silver Voice Maestro. He’s running out of alts so he’s dipping into his stash he uses for his alt-right political activities. Too bad I already made the video about “opera singer”. How does he manage all these alts??? A spreadsheet? I would love to see the procedure because I have trouble remembering passwords as it is.
Michael Trimble told me to keep going and that’s what I will do. He can speak for himself, he does, and I encourage you to present yourself rather than someone else as well. Get it together.
@@MisterOpera I meant no harm, I was purely suggesting and was curious about your thoughts on him. I think he's pretty cool and I like your alternative thoughts on singing. I understand given the tone of things lately my comment might have come across inflammatory, but I promise you it wasn't meant to be so.
Oh haha well that’s ok then. I think he’s freaking fantastic. But I don’t need to because his record speaks for itself. He’s pretty much legendary and we are lucky as a community to have him. You want link for group chats? Trying to get them set up. Independent, 5-20 people on FB messenger. The main page just acts as a hub for groups to find members and vice versa. The messenger platform allows people of any level to interact and actually make progress together. Super cool. Video and voice embed straight in so your phone memory doesn’t get killed.
And I mean really don’t worry about it. The whole mission of the asshat patrol is to make sing worse and lose out on positive interactions because you have to keep my guard up. Better to look hard and turn out soft than to look friendly and turn out to be a vampire. They know that singing and being open requires confidence and they don’t have any so they come for yours.
@@MisterOpera I would also like to suggest instead of assuming the position or thoughts of someone (such as you did with me) maybe press for clarification on what I might have meant when I said to watch Trimble. I'm no ideologue and it's foolish to assume people are because they might say something that's remotely familiar.
Beautiful sound, moving interpretation. Bravo.
Bravo Philippe, sounds damn fantastic
Lisette Oropesa
Thanks Lisette 😍
Lovely singing! And you are really had improved your singing since then!

@@MisterOpera Good to hear :)
My husband is great singer ❤
You are awesome.. and brave 🙏
I’m trying anyway. The attacks are starting to get stronger after that last video.
Mister Opera humans... keep hearing the birds... in your garden❤️
Thanks. It helps a lot to hear from you.

I think squillo now means you don’t have work
