Thanks, Geroge I was looking for a collapsible rain barrel. Interesting side note, almost all roofs have a collection of tiny meteorites on them. So, it's important to filter the water and then boil the water before drinking. If you want to check for meteorites tape a small magnet to a yard stick and place in the barrel after a rainstorm. Any particles sticking to the magnet is likely a tiny meteorite. Thanks again.

Very cool item. Folks in the city, apartments and others with the need for small specialty water catchment, this is a boon. Myself, with an eye more to the utility of things in a disaster, I've gone with the inflatable stand alone pools.

I received the rain water barrel just 4 days after ordering. It came well packaged and should work great. Unlike regular 55 gal drums it can be easily stored, taking up very little room, until it's needed. I liked it so much that I ordered a second. Thanks for the information and the link to a real quality product.

Kathy I have a couple of those 55 gal blue water storage barrels. I read that when filled with water each barrel would weigh approximately 600 lbs. So you may want to check out the weight bearing capacity of your apartment deck before storing 100 gallons (1200 lbs) of water on it. I am hardly an expect, just giving a heads up. 👍

@@lyndarina9839weight of water is between 8 and 8.5 lbs/gallon. A hundred gallons would weigh less than 850lbs.

I got a different brand when cheap. Still in the box. Using the plastic 50 gallon barrel for the garden now. 2 years should give it a good cleaning by now. Mines in the middle of the yard. Covered with 2 layers of mesh and just a little algae. Should put something on top to block light when dry. It would be a huge block of ice in winter here😂. May fill in the tub or garage in an emergency in case of leaks in winter.

Consider adding a finer mesh screen over the top. I have been looking at similar items to keep as far as rain run off, even during monsoon season I don't get enough rain in the part of Tucson where I live.

The good thing about this design is you can have several collapsed and stored in the garage with minimal space taken up, then heaven forbid if SHTF happens, and the picky homeowners association goes the way of the dodo bird, you can deploy these to catch water until "the system" comes back. Good product.

Food grade bucket with the spout tap and mesh screen is better. It's easier to carry when filled, easier maintenance, and when the tap breaks you know how to fix it because you tapped it with a circular drill bit and a washer. It's practically idiot proof. The small size makes it easier to conceal from prying eyes and I'd wager its also cheaper.

Even if it is, I wouldn't drink anything out of it since it will most likely be sitting in the sun a bit. When I was deployed to Kuwait we had a pallet of water (in your standard clear plastic containers) that got left in the sun for about a week. That water was completely undrinkable. It had a horrid plastic taste to it. I'm not sure I would even trust a water filter to get all of that plastic residue out of it. I'm no expert though... just saying I personally wouldn't risk it.
