What I miss about the 80s is being able to get through the day without something in my body creaking, cracking, groaning or aching. Suppose at least I've still got all my hair.🤣
38/40. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. I came out during the 80’s. Going out was never more fun. The music, the fashion, there was no social media, cell phones. However it was also the decade of death. I lost over 150 friends and colleagues; at the height of the AIDS epidemic I was attending 3-5 funerals a week and President Reagan didn’t even acknowledge it until the middle of his 2nd term.
I only missed 3, my best score yet. Apparently, i knew more about the 80s than the 70s. The thing i loved most about the 80s was the start of MTV. Another commenter said that, and i agree. They played music videos all the time, and no stupid reality shows. It was awesome. Another great video. Thank you.
Me too! I lived on the Oregon side of the Columbia, eastern side. I woke up and noticed a light film on my car. Totally blown away by the huge dredging operations at Kelso and Longview. Remember using nylons to help your car’s air filter?
I was in high school in the mid-80s. I got 38/40 on this quiz and said the answer out loud before any of the choices were listed. I miss a lot of things about the 80s. The big hair and the acid-washed jeans were great on the ladies. When gas prices when to 88¢ a gallon here in the U.S., I freaked out and wondered how I’d ever afford to drive to work if it went up to $1 a gallon. We’d go somewhere - mall, movies, high school football game, Pizza Hut - and 4 or 5 friends would pile in one person’s car and contribute $1 to $3 each for gas…whoever was driving would make out with getting a lot more gas than they burned driving around town! The music was great, (still is). MTV actually played music videos and it was a big deal. Saw my first concert in the 80s, (Iron Maiden), and ticket prices then were like $8. It cost more for a t-shirt, (between $12 and $15), at the show than the tickets cost! Every summer, a few weeks before school started, everyone would go to the State Fair. We would ride rides that probably weren’t too safe to be on, eat food I can’t have at my current age, and watch major bands, (like Night Ranger, Dolly Parton, The Beach Boys, Cheap Trick, Sheena Easton, Kool & The Gang, Alabama, etc.), perform for the $5 price of admission to the fair. Every Friday night when there wasn’t a home football game, half the school population would stay home to watch “Miami Vice”. “Hair bands” burst onto the scene, moving from the Rock to the Top 40/Pop charts and even Contemporary Christian music moved into the Rock genre with bands like Stryperand others following their lead burst onto the scene, (with Stryper “crossing over”, getting MTV play and blazing a trail that other Christian bands hadn’t yet been successful at doing). With ‘Hair bands’ hitting the scene, scorching guitars, intricate bass riffs and pounding drums combined with amazing harmonies, occasional piano or keyboards, and flashy outfits to become a signature part of the musical landscape of the decade, with even Van Halen getting in on the movement by bringing a keyboard into their sound, (“1984”). Ah…the 80s. Such a fun decade.
80s was definitely my era! Ashamed to say I still got 4 wrong though. As for what I loved about the 80s - everything (nostalgic sigh). Thanks for the quiz.
One of the things I did every week was to buy LIFE Magazine, I loved that magazine, it was up to date with everything that was happening around the world, specially Studio 54.
What I loved the most about the 80s... My college years were in the early 80s, wild time! What you now call the 'hair metal' bands era also a great memory.
I turned 16 in 1980 - graduated high school in 1981 and started working, and partying legally, in 1982 - what a great time - great music, great movie, great memories with favourite family members that have since passed on ❤

Born in 78 so the 80s were for the most part my childhood. Grateful to grow up in that Era. The last generation to be tough and independent. The tail end of gen x. How do I know I was gen x? Because of lots of little things. The 90s brought along helicopter parenting. The toys were dumbed down in the interst of safety. And this one really sticks out in my mind, all the kids started wearing not just a helmet, but full gear to ride their bikes. Elbow pads, knee pads, shoot even wrist guards. You would get relentlessly made fun of or even caught a beating wearing that stuff when I was their age. Kids are supposed to get bumps and bruises and cuts. That's how you learn. And these kids today, don't even get me started.
You were the kid to my generation, so be careful who you target. I was out of high school while you were still in diapers. No offense, but I was already toilet trained, although only for a couple of years.
Personally I love the music in the 1970's My Favorite Song was sung by Juice Newton "The Sweetest thing I've ever Known is loving you" p.s. I did get 40/50 right! 🤔
The girls I dated, the music, new romantics, hair and make-up (for the guys). The beginnings of my life as a biker, the cost of living, having well paid work while a lot of my friends struggled to get work. The birth of my first two children further into the 80's. My alcoholism. Almost losing an arm in a motorbike accident. My first time as an inpatient in a Psychiatric unit. Although the 80's were a great decade overall, not all of my memories are positive ones. The decade ended badly for me.
I got a lot of these questions right and I was born in the 90s but boy from what I have heard it must've been a really exciting decade for everyone that was born or living during the decade.
@Mark rapacki Same.. except I was married in 87. No good me doing a 90's quiz as I was up every morning for an 03:00 Roll delivering into London (Heinz) TWICE a day 5 days a week and then back into London Saturday to video weddings. (I live in Peterborough) I was so tired I don't remember a damned thing - Including my children growing up !
The '80s were not perfect but I did enjoy that period very much. (I am not a pessimist so I enjoy most times but the '80s were pretty great. Especially as we still had real music)
God, I miss the 1980s. I turned 10 years old in 1980 and turned 19 in 1989, and sometimes I feel like I dreamed the entire decade given how badly the 21st century has turned out. We didn't know how good we had it back then.
The big differences were that we weren't under total surveillance all the time, social media did not exist and we actually interacted with each other face to face, people's attention spans were longer than 5 or 6 seconds, and beer still tasted the way it should. People were not hiding in their bedrooms full of anxiety and terrified to interact with others. Kids played sports, people took walks, went swimming, threw a football back and forth etc. People lived their lives in a very fulfilling manner and those stupid surveillance devices didn't take all of our attention all day long. We had so much fun, I can't even describe it. Music was awesome, girls weren't so high and mighty that they would actually talk to you and privacy still mattered to us. The world is now a cess pool and all things beautiful are gone. No wonder suicide is out of control.
Loved this video, thanks for the trip down memory lane! I think this is why I love Stranger Things. Aside from being such a great series, being set in the eighties always takes me back to my youth. Especially since we had a lab near where we lived and always were suspicious that nefarious stuff was going on in there!
Nowdays, I hate to say it but 3/4 th of the People are the black ones! They are taught to have no respect for anyone, that's why they wear their pants way down low and when they bend over you can see the cracks in the butts! I only have a respect for a few of the black people that made themselves what they are to day. we even had the 1sat black president in Hisbory with Obama!
Great quiz, I thought it would be a walk but there was plenty of challenging material in there. Only missed one (though I got it, including both Columbia and Challenger was MEAN!).
01:28 It depended on the brand of cassette tape. Some had a sliding switch while others had the plastic tab that you broke off to make a tape permanently un-reusable.
Well, the 80's were preteen and teen years, so they were the best for me! Couldn't have asked for better music. And at least we had styles and trends then, now, there's no new cool looks or hairstyles. And, I was obvious to what being a Democrat or Republican was, and I don't recall American's hating each other as much as they do now.

Great times with great friends and sadly lost touch of all except 3 of them. Summer of 82' I got my license, bought a 71' Charger and had a first real girlfriend, nothing better than cruising around with her snuggled next to me listening to journey and not a care in the world
I miss the music - I'm still a teeny bopper in my 50's!
Hey I’m with ya! I’m 48 and still love everything 80s esp the music
@@jamesruot3672 👏Long live 80's music!
The Brat Pack, John Hughes movies, The Outsiders, St Elmo’s Fire, SNL was good…Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers…, Berlin Wall coming down, Fight For Your Right to Party…
Great 80's
I miss being a young adult in the 80’s.
80's - the music was best.
40/40!! B/c I grew up in and loved the 80s!! As for what I loved most? The music, for sure!
Definitely especially Queen Freddie Mercury was awesome in fact so was all the guys
@Mark rapacki yes MTV A-ha won it for take on me and dire straights won it twice once for money for nothing and i think brothers in arms
I'm sorry for your struggles!
Only missed 3...BUT what I miss most😭 the 80s and my teens
The music. I miss the music. 38 out of 40 ain't bad according to the comments below.
That's a brilliant score. What was better, 70s or 80s music? I prefer 70s now.
I got a lot of these questions right and I was born in the 90s but boy from what I have heard it must've been a really exciting decade for everyone that was born or living during the decade.
@Mark rapacki
Same.. except I was married in 87.
No good me doing a 90's quiz as I was up every morning for an 03:00 Roll delivering into London (Heinz) TWICE a day 5 days a week and then back into London Saturday to video weddings. (I live in Peterborough)
I was so tired I don't remember a damned thing - Including my children growing up !
The best thing about the 80's was listening to 'Mike Allen' on capital radio...the only hip hop show in the entire UK...the music was like gold dust!
The '80s were not perfect but I did enjoy that period very much. (I am not a pessimist so I enjoy most times but the '80s were pretty great. Especially as we still had real music)
The 80's were 💯💯
I miss the good vibes! These current days are bleak.
God, I miss the 1980s. I turned 10 years old in 1980 and turned 19 in 1989, and sometimes I feel like I dreamed the entire decade given how badly the 21st century has turned out. We didn't know how good we had it back then.
Except the hair. I had terrible hair back then😂
34 right, may the force be with us
It sure is👍
The big differences were that we weren't under total surveillance all the time, social media did not exist and we actually interacted with each other face to face, people's attention spans were longer than 5 or 6 seconds, and beer still tasted the way it should.
Mate you sure summed things up Damn shame what happened to younger peoples lives compared to ours PS 1958 vintage here
Loved this video, thanks for the trip down memory lane! I think this is why I love Stranger Things. Aside from being such a great series, being set in the eighties always takes me back to my youth. Especially since we had a lab near where we lived and always were suspicious that nefarious stuff was going on in there!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I meant to say the people who are arrest for every 1 white guy 3 blacks are arrested!
I miss my Swatch and jelly shoes!
I forgot about jelly shoes😂
30/40 I best remember slinky's, magic eight balls, silly string, playing tennis and running track (I once came in 2nd for the mile)! 🙃
what did I like best about the 80s...Everything
I loved everything about the 80s. 😁😁 Only got 2 wrong. Good quiz, thank you.
Great quiz, I thought it would be a walk but there was plenty of challenging material in there. Only missed one (though I got it, including both Columbia and Challenger was MEAN!).
I don't remember the Discman coming out in 84 ? I remember it being much later , late 80's . 84 was the height of the Walkman .
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discman
Good quiz. I enjoyed that.
Knowing what color the Pac Man ghost changed made my heart smile.
The music was the best in the 80’s
I dropped only 2. I loved the music and alternative comedy. The Young Ones broke the comedy rules.

It depended on the brand of cassette tape. Some had a sliding switch while others had the plastic tab that you broke off to make a tape permanently un-reusable.
And you could always cover the holes left by the missing tabs with tape if you decided to use it again.
@Mark rapacki We all were, bro. We all were.
Cassette tapes usually had the slider tabs.
VHS tapes tended to have breakable tabs.
@@JLvatron Like I said, it depended on the brand.
40 / 40 I loved the 80's. The BEST time of my life.
I missed 4. I still have my Discman! I miss the great music but I don't miss all that hairspray. Just thinking about it makes my eyes water!
The 80's🤣🤣🤣God that was a blast!
