I love this musical so much, the way you talk about this so passionately reminds me of my literature teacher when we saw this in school. Thanks so much for this amazing musical and the way you bring it to life!
I always found it a little strange that Odysseus would wonder why the lotus eaters would pass up on eating the sheep, having just explained to Polites that while the lotus fruit is plentiful, it's also super addictive (and according to The Odyssey, it also makes you lethargic and apathetic). They have free access to a plentiful resource that both sates their hunger, gets them high and makes them sleepy, all without them having to lift a finger. Why on earth would they be running around chasing sheep?
I think it was because they chose the dangerous lotus over the sheep in the first place, not that they refused the sheep after eating the lotus. At least that's my interpretation of the musical version
I had only listened to "My Goodbye" from this saga, but I've read the Odyssey, and I was just groaning when he got to the part where Odysseus reveals his true name. The dude practically gave the guy his IP address and THAT'S certainly not going to cause any problems later.
