i recall reading somewhere, at some point it became any people who died at sea couldnt go to the underworld as their souls now belonged to the sea or something

I’m fairly sure that they don’t go to Poseidon, he has no association with the dead. Dying at sea was such a bad thing because it meant that you didn’t get a proper burial, which meant no passage across the river Styx.

I absolutely love how Lovecraftian you made Poseidon. Like beyond just the tentacles, the way he transforms and mutates, how he taunt’s Odysseus with what he plans to do to his family and home, and using what I assume are the rotting corpses of the men he drowned in Ruthlessness to try and drag their Captain down with them to their watery grave.

brrrr i love the sheer HORROR on display during the whole song!! not just poseidon, but the crew too! and poseidon summoning up images of penelope AND TELEMACHUS GOUGING HIS OWN EYES god, it's so brutal. i love how poseidon takes the form not just of water but the ocean spray and mist too. and yet... odysseus still touches the scary bonehorse muzzle... and polite's skeleton is both weighing him down yet holding him close... god theres just so many cool decisions made. cinematic. terrifying. beautiful. thank you so much!
oh i forgot to add but i LOVE the opening bit where poseidon raises himself like a ghost as if the ocean is solid. its jsut such a great detail and lets the audience FEEL that hes supernatural. as well as being unsettling and spooky
y'know considering what we know about this version of Poseidon, it does not surprise me one bit that the choir is made up of the reanimated corpses of Odysseus' men
thus us one of the best animatics ive ever seen like woah, when poseidon turned into the animal creature and all the scenes made out of waves were so cool

The little mix up in art styles makes it a little hard to keep up. But otherwise the ending results is a little terrifying Which is a good thing when you're working with this type of song. I can imagine the amount of therapy. This is giving some people.😅

What a mind-blowing take on Poseidon- you REALLY hammered in how fluid he is! That he's literally MADE of fluid and can be whatever monstrosity he wants to be! He's become unstable due to rage and can't even decide on a form! And the way you gave him the faintest moment of hesitation, where you could feel that yes, Ody is right that he IS tired of this crud, but Ody doesn't realize that Poseidon's idea of ending it HAS to be with Ody's death. That he DOES want it to be over but he's too far gone and proud to let it go.

Fun fact, Poseidon was actually considered a Death God before the Greeks fully developed Hades as a god. So all the death imagery here works very well
