Wolfey actually won a tournament battle with this strat, it’s basically the meanest thing ever and everyone loves it when it doesn’t happen to them
World champ difference
Wolfey did play a bit differently because it was Gen 5 and Doubles
He led with both Delcatty and Gengar.
Delcatty will fake out potentially threatening opponents that will ruin his strat
Gengar will Role Play Delcatty to get normalise
Delcatty then switches out to gothitelle
Gengar then role plays the Normalize opponent
Gothitelle will protect so the Normalized opponent won’t hit her
Gengar will then skill swap to the other opponent.
So now Gothitelle has to hope it survives
But then, Gengar skill swaps gothitelle to get shadow tag
And then Haunter switches in gothitelle
And Gengar skills swaps haunter to hold the ability
Now the opponents will have to die
First they both do some prep work
They pain split both enemies to recover HP they lost
Next Gengar takes Normalize
And then Haunter slowly kills one of them
Repeat this until the last two opponents
Then bring politoed to perish song
imagine just trying to climb ladder then you see this happen to you

If I were climbing a ladder and I saw Pokémon being destroyed I would be very confused of why they were on my roof.

I’ve been having this happen to me since Gen 7 balanced hackmoms. No hate but this isn’t rly anything new and I just end up switching to magic bounce and/or running skill swap on something.
I don't think I've ever seen something of papa's that has worked this well before, I'm proud
Imagine just taking the delcatty and the mega Gengar, then shove in two more ghost types and two more skill swappers. Then you just have a team that basically yeets the opponents abilities out the window and even if they somehow have Gengar taken down there is a low chance they could still win.
One of his BHM teams was very good too, who had a Golisopod Triage
Normalize gengar is pretty common in BH since dragapult with normalize was banned
He got the idea from Wolfe Glick, who did this in 2013.

The ability so bad that the best use for it is to give it to your opponent to cripple them.

Audino can learn both Entrainement and Skill Swap, which means more chance of giving your opponent the ability Normalize.

Yeah i made a team with gengar, delcatty asist, audino chingling chimecho entrainment + skill swap, and blissey skill swap. That's like 7/11 which is 63,7% chance. That is extra 13,7%

i love how the guy had dragon dance on reshiram, a special attacker, and went for blue flare instead of fusion flare
Blue Flare is pretty solid for the burn chance, though I'd have Sacred Fire in Hackmons for its 50/50 burn chance

@@Lrizu you can see the Delcatty use normalize on a ghost type at like 12:50
@@Lrizu doesn't matter, your moves have become Normalized, making them all Normal type, which can't hit ghosts.
@@Lrizu you can't hit them if the opponent has a Ghost type. *I think* there is a work around this by using Silvally with Multi Attack.

I could only guess he wanted to take down the substitute with Energy ball to give a false sense of security then actually hit hard with the earthquake.

It wasn't really a noob play, it was actually really smart using steelix as a pivot to bring Dracozolt into sandstorm. The steelix was already pretty much dead, and probably couldn't hit the gengar very hard even with EQ because Steelix kinda sucks. So it was best to go for explosion so he could safely get dracozolt on the field without taking a hit from gengar, so he could potentially sweep.

this is like the one time where wolfey did this on the nugget bridge tournament 2013 and actually pulled it of in a 2v2 format using rollplay + skill swap gengar.
I think Wolfey did something like this in an actual VGC match, what an absolute legend 😂

To be fair, AV Vaporeon isn't really a thing you're ever going to see. But it's one of the less surprising mons to tank a special hit considering its been putting in work in OU since it was released, even when it drops it still makes a great special wall.
Dynamax is also way more effective when used with more HP which means less chance to set up.
I don't think it's inherently broken, it just has broken interactions with certain Pokemon who can abuse the boosting nature of max moves. Which are definitely the more problematic part of dynamax. 100+ bp moves which boost stats are just unheard of in Pokemon before this.
Typically that kind of power comes with a downside, eg Draco meteor, hyper beam, zap cannon, etc.
Not to mention that flying type is offensively one of the best coverage types in the game and it gives a speed boost which is huge offensively.

The last player could also have countered you by continuously going for High Jump Kick to be able to switch in another pokemon. It would probably not have been of much use, but at least they could have prevented you from getting your full set up.

You can make this strat work in Natdex AG. You have to have runerigus, delcatty, and Mega Gengar. Get wondering spirit on the opponent with runerigus, switch to delcatty, fakeout, and switch to mega Gengar. From there you can substitute and set up. I remember doing a large amount of trolling with this team. :) (this also eliminates the rng of assist)

I've used Mega Gengar + Normalize Skill Swap Delcatty in Singles too, Altough I went with a Sticky Barb Sturdy level 1 Carbink so I always get off Skill Swap at the end of the turn and get a switch into Delcatty which I can then use Choice Scarf Copycat with... I also had a Sticky Barb Shedinja just to pivot into after getting my Gengar into Mega

Oh hey! Delcatty is seeing use because of it's signature ability. Nice to see.
I like using an Assist V-Create team. With Normalize and Choice Band, Delcatty has a STAB, Normalize and Choice Band boosted V-Create and it does a lot of damage. Also Prankster Liepard and Contrary Spinda. It gets walled by a lot, but it's funny when it works.

I was playing showdown literally an hour ago and saw someone with your team! I don’t remember the name, but I had a togedemaru, glalie, magmortar, greninja, pheromosa, and ferrothorn on my team.

By the way, one comment on the Normalize Gengar set that you showed at the beginning - it usually runs Quiver Dance over Plot for the speed boost (so you can always outspeed and click Entrainment if they switch). Spooky Plate + Judgement is also generally preferred over Life Orb + Shadow Ball because you really don't need the extra damage from Life Orb and Shadow Ball becomes a Normal type move from Normalize anyways, and Spooky Plate + Judgement allows you to improof (Imposter proof) yourself, because if an Imposter Chansey/Blissey switches in, their Judgement will be normal type, whereas yours will be Ghost type (so they won't be able to hit you, but you'll be able to hit them). Lastly, Normalize makes Sludge Wave become Normal type, so in the last slot, Gengar usually runs either Sub, Secret Sword, Moongeist Beam, Taunt (for Haze/Topsy-Turvy and opposing Taunt), or Toxic/WoW (for the likes of Sturdinja).

The lopunny guy actually had a great chance to win, since he could kill himself before the setup with Hi Jump Kick.
Also it hurt to watch that Hydreigon play.
This has only proven how their are people who just think hey my attacks aren’t doing anything try another one, or when my opponent is setting up I’ll just not try and stop them.
