    Hello,
after using the Design assistant, a big inconvenience happened to me. (I renamed one part of the assembly in DA) Since then, when I open this assembly in Inventor, all the references are lost, if I determine them again and show him where the referenced files are and save it, then when I open the assembly again, the references are missing again . I'm really desperate. Confused Any information on this problem would help me. Thanks for the tips, experience, knowledge on this issue.

what if you have made a drawing of the part(s) you want to rename. How do you get design assistant to include those so they will not have issues?

      Hi John,
Most likely you would need to involve some more advanced automation there to capture the changes to the reference files. Reach out to our team @ questions@ketiv.com and we can help point you in the right direction.

I am using Inventor 2020 and when I right click on Action, it only gives me the option of Copy and Clear, It shows options of Rename and Replace but they are faded and I can't click on them. Can someone please help me with this?

Hi, Some of the dialogue boxes in the applications have changed over the last few years. Are you trying to rename files? or perform another action with the Design Assistant?

I was trying to rename the files, however after talking to my instructor he just said to use the “save as” option under file.

@@holaroccotv4564 I ended up just copying the part by pressing "Save As..." In Inventor, then renaming it to whatever I want, then deleting the old part from my home screen, and manually opening the part I just renamed

good but a lot of work just to change a file, in solidworks you just change the file in windows explorer and reopen. I am pulling my hair out with inventor at the moment.

Unfortunately, renaming file names is usually taken care of either through the Design Assistant or through the renaming utility in a Vault environment.

you can do the same in inventor. In SW you can change filename in feature tree, but you cant do the same in inventor, but SW has a huge amount of bugs
