14:31- OMG Ralf Jones and Clark Steel had one of the most badass and cooler intros in all of KOF franchise...they dilute it to a basic soldier to soldier salute? SNK Devs C'mon now!!!
Seeing Max focusing while playing is great. He seems to be really enjoying the game which is fantastic to see. My mine gripe with the game is how little recovery there is for specials when trying to punish. I need to be more aggressive man
It’s like that because command grabs are actually taken seriously unlike in street fighter where they’re just gimmicks. It allows you to open people up easily despite defense being incredibly strong and can punish things most of the cast can’t because most main grabs are frame 1. So in simple terms burning knuckles usually safe on block when spaced right but a grab lets you punish it.
Regarding the highlighted comment, it isn't the first time for SNK to succeed by doing a better version of somewhat the same game, they made XIII from XII that recieved a lot of disappointment when it was released, and then XIII became one of the best SNK fighting games ever, so I guess they are doing the same with 14 and 15 except 15 had better budget and staff
Yeah, he's got pretty much every move he's ever had with the exception of the command grab since that's Clark's whole shtick and his buttons are mad good.
It's cool to see how SNK was able to take what they learned from the 3D design in KOF XIV and their most recent installment of Samurai Showdown and implemented them to improve the graphics both to the characters and the stages.
I think kof xiv was a game to get the ball rolling. They made the game within their mean to be able to move unto making samsho and kof xv. Still I'm happy to see how much they've grown with the art style of kof xv. can't wait to get it eventually
Ralph and Vanessa seem seriously OP in the game this go-round. I was able to learn Ralph myself, but Vanessa hasn't yet clicked for me. need more practice. >.
Ralf is pretty good but his confirms are bad without max cancel and no mix up because he lost his command grab. 98 Ralf this is not. Vanessa also has no defense at all and can be swarmed hard. She’s also got mediocre range so characters like ryo and Ralf can just stuff everything they do.
Vanessa kinda suffers against characters with good low pokes and outside of max mode Ralf isn't that great as he suffers from linearity a common problem with Ralf
@@saadhasan2518 I wouldn’t say that. He’s got the best buttons and you really can’t contest them. That’s like saying chun li low key is bad in third strike because she just has god tier buttons she’ll use 24/7 so just predict them. It grossly undersells how good they are at controlling neutral.
@@Neogears1312 yeah he is a beast in the neutral. Speaking of Ryo he's also good in this game he has a great combo structure and has great damage the parry also works quite good and some of his buttons are kinda nice such as far standing C
I appreciate that you highlight more comments these days. That said, I’m surprised that not many people are playing Terry given his exposure in Smash. I guess this Smash Effect really isn’t that big in the grand scheme of things.
Terry has actually never been that consistently played in the series despite being phenomenal in most games. It’s because Terry is like a 8-9/10 at almost everything he does but opening people up because he lacks any mix up at all. Opening people ups really important because defense is strong so you often see people run characters like kyo and iori who’re very good at opening people up or characters like Mai and Heidern because their neutral makes that even harder.
I love how nice it feels to play this game online, it needs to be in more modern fighting games. The character flow feels amazing as well when doing combos.

I'm really happy with how this game has turned out. KOF 14 was already a lot of fun and KOF 15 is that but refined and made so much better. And I am almost SHOCKED at how good some of these character renders look up close, especially the ones we got for Team Garou and Team South Town
KOF is a classic! The orochi was one of their best sagas ever made. The NEST saga was ok and Ash saga only got interesting in the end. Gameplay wise, they definitely waned a lot during KOF 2003, especially after releasing one of their best KOFs. The transition to 3D models wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but I played KOF XV and is reminded of the good times I had back in the days. Can't wait to gain back my confidence in challenging other players and have great fun again.
Ngl, I greatly miss the 2D look; the 3D just doesn’t have that feeling I’m looking for. However I do miss playing some characters like K and King, so I think imma still get the game. And seeing that Ralf beatdown super always hype me up for Kof
If there's one thing I've been enjoying about KOF XV is that while you can learn how to perform crazy, highly technical combos that look sick and ridiculous -- you can still also learn practical, far easier to execute but still relatively challenging combos that still look flashy and are satisfying to do when you land them. The game isn't as daunting for new players as the series was before but it doesn't dumb itself down too much for those who want interesting combo paths, depth and as Max has spoken about before -- player expression.
In most fighting games, boxer archetypes appeal to me and Vanessa is even moreso. She does dash punches like Balrog, machine gun punches like Dudley, and flicker jabs like Steve. Such a cool character.

Something about the grapplers in KoF that put the fear of God in me more than any other fighting game. Christ alive.
14:31- OMG Ralf Jones and Clark Steel had one of the most badass and cooler intros in all of KOF franchise...they dilute it to a basic soldier to soldier salute? SNK Devs C'mon now!!!
Max:"Don't jump. Don't jump"
Other guy:"I'll fucking do it anyways"
Seeing Max focusing while playing is great. He seems to be really enjoying the game which is fantastic to see. My mine gripe with the game is how little recovery there is for specials when trying to punish. I need to be more aggressive man
It’s like that because command grabs are actually taken seriously unlike in street fighter where they’re just gimmicks. It allows you to open people up easily despite defense being incredibly strong and can punish things most of the cast can’t because most main grabs are frame 1. So in simple terms burning knuckles usually safe on block when spaced right but a grab lets you punish it.
Max knows how to use Ralf: pure unga bunga!
I'll be honest, Ralf seems more fun to play here than his older incarnations.
I was able to learn Ralph myself, but Vanessa hasn't yet clicked for me. need more practice. >.
And Terry, don't forget the f*cking Terry, the most op character in the game in my opinion.
Ralf has the best win animation
"WUOOOOOOH"
never played a kof game in my life, but this game has been a blast to learn in the short time I've had it.
It’s always been phenomenal. Capcom fans just steal the spotlight for their games.
I appreciate that you highlight more comments these days. That said, I’m surprised that not many people are playing Terry given his exposure in Smash. I guess this Smash Effect really isn’t that big in the grand scheme of things.
I'll say it's more on the line of most Smash players not really moving to traditional fighting games at all.
I’ve personally run into a LOT of people playing him honestly. Like every 3rd match or so I see a Terry.
Terry is great at getting damage but he lacks tools in opening up the opponent
I love how nice it feels to play this game online, it needs to be in more modern fighting games. The character flow feels amazing as well when doing combos.
If your fortunate enough to own pc... Its about as good as sfv (current) theybjustbeach have different flaws hope they fix it tho. And not only on ps5 like strive did.
@@duggyfresh8899 I do own it on pc and its very nice to play on there
@@AzxelEternal lol thats good for you my point is not everyone is that lucky including myself, but atleast im not on ps5 on ps4 but still isnt much better.
As someone who has played kof as their main fighting franchise since 1997 this is such a amazing moment I thought I had it made on OG xbox live with 2002 2003 bundled and having online now on series x I have almost perfect netcode for my favorite fighting game franchise and I feel like I could cry.
Ralf with those friggin' Timbs on HK! That's such a good button.
His Hp used to be even better. Full push back on block and covered half screen. He even had a command grab back then.
I enjoy your KoF video´s a lot now that i bought the game. Ralf looked good, so I´m trying him out right now. the qcf KK crumples, that is super good. It´s not hard to confirm two lights into it...and then you have so much time to do the qcf hp, qcf lp...into a super. He is really simple to combo with, it feels good. All because of seeing this video haha, he is going on my team soon :) Also your tips on how to use max mode for beginners was really helpful. Easy, big damage available for every one. Good luck on the channel!
Everyone's got a plan until Ralf punches them in the face.
All those empty jump setups were crazy
I love that you play Ralf now, he has been my main since 98
I'm loving those intros you started making, awesome idea
I cant do nothing but thank so much that ur putting effort into this game
Ralf be like "cool guys don't look at explosion's!"
Ngl, I greatly miss the 2D look; the 3D just doesn’t have that feeling I’m looking for. However I do miss playing some characters like K and King, so I think imma still get the game. And seeing that Ralf beatdown super always hype me up for Kof
Buster Adventure? That sounds like a reference to the Arthur cartoon, to me.
Max you need to add some SNK love to your amazing intro
look closely and you can see Rock Howard
Rocks literally the very first part.
I really wanna know how Max ranks the KOF games
Urrgh that train thingy in the background of that Halloween stage is so scary.
Thanks as always for the great content max! Been loving the fame so far. Shame that I can't find many good online matches being from South Africa.
I'm glad the one thing no one ever doubted was the soundtrack.
Clark literally has been doing that since he's been in KOF. This online looks amazing.
The never ending battle between max and yodontknowme continues
30:44 Leona most greatest Super "Voltes FIVE!!!!"
I gotta say that Elisabeth's light effects are super sick. Light as a power is something that I'd like to see more of from future characters
In most fighting games, boxer archetypes appeal to me and Vanessa is even moreso. She does dash punches like Balrog, machine gun punches like Dudley, and flicker jabs like Steve. Such a cool character.
She actually takes her moves from fatal fury’s boxer Rick Strowd.
@@Neogears1312 ye kinda sad that Rick and his epic theme won't be on kof forever coz Vanessa is there already. Not to mention Rick only showed up on one game.
Vanessa is very fine tho.
dat Ralf vs Clark theme is awesome
Loving kyo's new design
Ralf punches the ground in J. Karn's voice: "MONGOLIAN DYNAMITO!!!"
All my dreams have come true. New KOF game is good and Max is playing it ^_^
Thankyou dood!
some amazing matches really cool to see a good clark and leona
Thanks to you, I'm now interested in many fighting games such as this...
when I can buy them, that's a problem of future me (I'm broke af)
Thanks for your content, Max!
The ye olde Clark roll into the grab. The first trick I learnt in 97. You can buffer the input on a roll frame. Super punishing, but feels good to do.
Max switching to pc was like him taking off the weighting training gear
Watch these videos makes what to get KOF XV even though I know nothing about story.
