  • A small easy project to learn Glass Fusion. This piece has a hook added on the back to hang on a wall or in a window.
A sharpie is used to draw lines and a glass cutter is used to score the glass. It's not sharp. When pressure is applied it cuts into the top layer is the glass. This allows the breaker, which is curved, to easily break the glass along the scored line.
Nippers are used to define edges where the glass didn't break exactly where you wanted. When the finished piece is fired, the edges will relax and smooth out a little.
Glass Stringers are easily broken with fingers and add dimension to the design. Dichroic glass can be multicolored and when fired changes color. Most have a metallic sheen and are beautiful.
When the design is finished, its glued together and fired at about 1400° for about 8 hours. We contour fuse so the shape of each color still has texture but is permanently attached to all the other colors.
