@@EnderBuilder If that's the case it's like he was depressing Banjo's Legacy, which technically was an evolution to the Collect-a-ton (even Super Mario Odyssey uses some of Banjo's mechanics), another one is Hero, alongside Final Fantasy were the pioneers of the RPG games, Terry was for Ryu, like Sonic was for Mario of their respective genres, probably Byleth, Min-Min and Joker weren't really relevant, but the other ones were icons for the videogames, so the commentary was kinda out of place, I mean Minecraft is a good game, but shares a formula nearly similar to Animal Crossing, a sandbox game but with the addition of you can break everything on the world for crafting, and also that you can die, and If we're talking about character design, Steve wasn't very original, because a model which is nearly similar to him appeared way before he was created, on a Wario Ware Smoth Moves' microgame where you have to shake the control as simulating that you are running, with the difference that Steve can't bend his elbows and knees like that character can.

I personally think that each DLC fighters is like a legend for different groups of gamers, Banjo for the N64 kids, Hero for Japan, Terry for Latin America, and now Steve for the younger generations, and Sakurai really understands that and wants everyone to be represented in some way.
I think soldier or heavy would be perfect choices. Their artstyle fits hand in hand with smash, they represent online FPS and FPS games in general. And the most interesting, if we were to pretend that heavy or soldier came after steve, that would make them the very first character in the fighters pass to be a HEAVYWEIGHT. I mean, soldier is the second slowest class in the game and heavy is LITERALLY CALLED THE HEAVY.

@@grenindraw6947 Doomguy is my personal top character I wanna see in Smash some day, but I'm perfectly happy as long as the characters that come out are fun (which Steve DEFINITELY is). Doomguy wouldn't be just Snake again. The weapons don't have to totally disappear like they had done with Snake back in Brawl. They can now just make all his gun moves more like Joker "Gun" where it's not bloody and it's all still guns. Doomguy is an entirely different type of character than Snake anyways if you meant what you said differently. The real decision would be between Doomguy/Master Chief. They look so similar and play far closer to each other than what Snake would to either of them. It's hard to determine which *should* be in though. Initially, I thought that Master Chief should since he's a bigger icon in gaming, but then I remembered that Doomguy is actually older and was on Nintendo systems already and was one of the founders of entire game genre. But the real thing that seals the deal for me was the connection btwn the Animal Crossing and Doom communities.

But the easiest way that I could summarize one of my possible ideas is thinking of a hybrid between Min-Min's style of recovery and directional fighting with Ganondorfs thicc physicality but without *too* much weight (he's a pretty agile fellow) and using Doom's wide variety of weapons across his moveset. He wouldn't rip people apart or anything. I could go into more specifics for potential moveset ideas if you'd like. In terms of violence, he's shooting people like Joker and Bayo do, but with heavier weapons. His blades and fists and explosives and sci-fi weapons are like everyone elses - they're seen as "non-violent."
For real I needed to pinch myself after this announcement. Like honestly I wanted Crash, but when I saw Steve pop up my heart dropped in a good way and I was so shooked. The game deserved to be in smash.
