The way I'm learning to sense the shape of my heart is to stop seeking the flaws of others and to get busy with changing myself. A lot of times ppl look outside themselves and criticize in others what they don't like what they are suffering from themselves. The more I do that, the more I know why I must be like the Prophet asking 70 times a day for forgiveness. Everyone wants to be a sheikh and scholar and tell everyone else what is and isn't the straight path.
Symptoms of hardened heart: 1. Do not care about relationship with Allah 2. Do not find pleasure in worships, it becomes monotonous 3. Does not benefit from advices, a sense of arrogance 4. Committing sins become a routine or lifestyle 5. Do not feel guilty for sinning Reasons for hardening: 1. Ignoring the remembrance of Allah 2. Not following and caring about Islamic laws 3. Following all bodily desires 4. Too much entertainment, wasting of time Prophet said, "I warn you against too much laughing." How to soften hearts: 1. Monitoring of heart, lifestyle, symptoms 2. Increasing actions of worship, immerse in remembrance of Allah 3. Being in righteous gatherings, company 4. Pray to soften your heart 5. Constantly think of death & hereafter 6. Regular reciting Qur'an 7. Feed the poor, wipe the tear of orphans

33:14 to 33:24 "Allahomma la tada'a lana fee hatha alyaum dhamban illā ghafartah, wa lā hamman illa farrajtah, wa la daynan illa qadaytah, wa la mareedan illa shafaytah, wa la a'aseeran illa yasartah" "Oh Allah do not leave for us in this day a sin until you have forgive it, or a concern/difficulty until you create an opening for it (i.e. solve it), or a debt until you payit off (for us), or a sick person until you cure him, or someone in hardship until you make it easy for him"
