i tried 100 of these. i both felt and sweated like i ran a marathon, but 3 days later my legs felt strong as a rock! crazy how rikishi do hundreds per day!
Disappointed miniature earthquakes didn't form like in baki
honestly tho, what a chill and nice guy!
So you here from baki too
Me too LOL
Cultured brethren. We are all here from Baki.
I'm here from kengan ashura
I'm here from baki aswell

@@Santhuelg No puedo creer que encontré a otra persona de Uruguay que le gusta el sumo, voy a pedir un deseo 😂
I'm not into sumo, mostly calisthenics ...but these kinds of exercises are gems.
And you offer here a clear, beautifully demonstrated and straight to the point tutorial !!!
Thank you very much sir.
Omg this is much more difficult than I expected. Damn good workout for the legs, strengthening the knees. Just an awesome exercise overall, ill be trying this everyday along with my regular routine, no kidding. Thanks!
PS: great video, well explained, charismatic personality: Instant subscription.
I can barely to 10 at a time just shows how much dedication and training sumo needs
Thank you Takeshi !!! Really miss having keiko through the quarantine :'( .
Wow this is so cool ! Thank you for this . Can’t wait to start this at home .
#sumotraining
After 3 weeks of trying it every 2 days, I finally managed to get 100 Shiko and 60 Koshiwari in a single day. Feels great! I still have a lot to improve
I will honor you, by doing these everyday. Thank you.
I'm trying to work on this as a little warm up to my Bikram yoga practice. Bikram focuses on legs, back, and balance, so this is the perfect exercise to compliment that.
I am new to sumo, but was inspired by watching sumo training and want to train some sumo basics. This looks great!
100 shiko a day sounds like a goal I would like to train up to, slowly building my foundation through daily training.
I have much respect to you for this helpful video and passion for sumo.
Thank you for sharing!
I saw you at the US Sumo open a couple of years ago. It's awesome to find your channel! Thank you for the lesson!
Thank you so much for this. I want to incorporate some Sumo in my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and this is a great way to start! Especially in a sport that there is so little information on!
whoa didn't expect this training were harder than it look on tv, my legs gave up after 8-10 stomps
Excited for more videos!
Thank you Takashi! Much appreciated. Looking forward to watching much more.
I discovered Shiko this week, my legs are sore and I love it. Great video, I've used it as a reference almost every day.
I tried your training ngl, its harder than my weight training program.
Super cool! Shiko is very hard and a great exercise not just for sumo.
Being a person that is new to sumo I love it
I’m pretty lean, and I’m wanting to try sumo wrestling. Literally nowhere in America teaches it, so this is the next best thing
I mean there are sumo clubs in the US
Thank you for the great videos!!!!
I want to train sumo so bad. I grew up wrestling and football. Competed in muay thai and bjj (never actually transitioned to MMA). I'm a bigger guy (6'5 250). And I've been watching sumo like crazy. I think I could do okay if trained, but more than that, I think I would enjoy the hell out of it. Unfortunately, there are no sumo clubs in Montana. :(
thanks for the information, greetings from mexico
hello, very good explanation, I see shiko's posture similar to the kibadachi used in karate, as a former martial artist I find the training they have in sumo super interesting, recently I began to be interested and that desire to train again. Thank you very much for the explanation.
I just ran into your channel I train in kosen judo but I think that Majuro can become a lot better with the sumo wrestling training. Thank you so much for sharing.
Tired after only 2. 😅
It's so much more difficult doing it the correct way, but much more effective.
Thanks.
hi. i'm korean and sumo mania. i enjoy watch SUMO Haru Basho Makuuchi ALL BOUTS. Favorite player is yokozuna hakuho & kakuryu, new ozeki asanoyama. i have try 200 shiko in everyday. good exercise. I learned different style shiko. i think especially hakuho shiko style looks different and great.
greatnvideo ❤️🖤💜🖤❤️I was looking for a sumo channel that teaches it! Donyou have any videos on techniques? I love sumo but there is no sumo teacher arround... I wanna learn the throws 💜💜💜💜💜

Thank you! i heard shiko strengthen the knees. I'm definitely going to incorporate into my workouts !
I don't know if the author of this video is going to read this words. I am going to add shiko to my karate do training and you have a fan from Venezuela.

I can feel every one of my leg joints popping from my hip to my ankles but it felt like I unlocked everything in the waist and my legs feel great
thank you for sharing. I am new to sumo and love the sport, thank you very much! I love watching the matches, Hakuho and Tochinoshin are my favorites and I would love to visit japan one day and go to matches. the shiko is an amazing exercise, and we practice at home. we use it for ritual purposes, to sweep away all evil spirits before we compete. all the best friends
My entire legs are burning, this looks so simple yet so hard to pull off once you've done a few of them.
It's not just strength, in a few days my leg and hip flexibility has vastly increased.
Thanks for the video. I wish I could speak and read Japanese, so I could watch your other videos as well.
Very nice explain! Great video 😊
Thank you brother !

Soy cubano, excelente ejercicio para la flexibilidad de piernas el maestro kagawa .lo utiliza para la patada lateral. Viva el sumo.
Can you make a long video or loop of you doing shiko please?
Thank you for making these videos!
This is harder than it looks, but I'm definitely determined!
Great video!
Quick question. How do you count repetitions? Every leg lift is a repetition or should I do both legs to count one?
Good content, keep it up!
Wow! Que buen video señor amita!
Great video I want to training Sumo but in my country there aren't dojos
Hoy empiezo con 100👏 Saludos desde Mexico 🇲🇽
I wish I could do sumo here in America and then finish my prime in Japanese sumo

Cool.i weigtlift run and do sumo training
I come here from the sanctuary (netflix series). I dunno what is sumo shiko lol. 😂😂😂
Just found your channel. Arigato! I am starting my training regimen and was looking to learn good form. Cheers!
Who is your favorite Rikishi?
Thank you for watching!
Tobizaru is my favorite rikishi!
How do you count repetitions? One exercise step is both legs? I am supposed to do it 50 times.
One Shiko is one leg. both legs count two! If you do right Shiko, even 50 times would be hard for you!
Good videos! Wonderful culture...
is it common for beginners to lose balance when raising the other leg?
Mr. Amita, is there a specific order to do training? In example: should matawari be first or shiko?
Nothing wrong but usually shiko first.
As someone experienced in fitness, deep stretching exercises like matawari are much better at the end of your workout.
Stretching before a workout also makes you lose power in your muscles.
So the recommended order for the best performance would be:
1)Mobility and warm up
2)Workout (work the muscles first, cardio later)
3)Stretch and relax the muscles.

TAKESHI!!!
What happened to his eye nerve? Is it trauma or how some people say just lazy eye ?
is it 100 shiko all over the day just when it fitts or is it 100 in one single block ?
my thigh is sore on the top but you said it should hurt underneath, what could I be doing wrong?
Bruh good muscles under that fat, from the thumbnail i though you were just chubby but watching you move revealed a buff guy.
Dreamy legs too!
i really like the training both heavy emphasis on strong buttocks and hamstrin muscles. but if there are alternative for sumo wrestlers to do gym for upper back muscles and open kinematic exercise that would be more emphasis on muscles. i often seen on videos of common injuries like ankle sprains and i believe also on strain quads over used of the said muscles.also injuries on the fingers. power ferocities. a sudden burst of enegrgy can hit a normal person death one slap. i believe it can modified the daily exercises but certain techn will not be there. i just dont want to see great man injuried and leave it so sad.
