My man! What a video. I love these deep analysis videos that go into the history of a game or series. This one is done masterfully while also giving out tips for combat. Thanks for the effort and the whole video. I just finished NGS1. Starting NG2 (vanilla) now.
Glad you liked it brother! It's a voice-version of the articles on the site, I also have NG2 and NG3 versions on that platform in written word. Happy reading!
The game mechanics were way ahead of it´s time and still hold up today. Way to celebrate the 30 year anniversary. Amazing indepth analysis of Ninja Gaiden.
It's been several years I haven't played Ninja Gaiden, but thank you for reminding me the reasons why this is my all time favourite game. Your video and analysis are so right. I would add some commentaries to complete it: what was also great about Ninja Gaiden was its level design, every places were interesting to visit and revisit to discover new secrets and challenges. And in action games, this tends to disappear totally, which is sad. Plus Ninja Gaiden had also some of the most impressive graphics at that time! However, one flaw of the game you did not mention was the messy camera. Anyway, your video is great and very interesting, congrats!
@@RaengStinger yes I agree, I just wish the walkthrough was less linear in NGII, compared ton NG where revisiting previous place was possible and even provided unlocked secrets.
@@Xoruna Yeah the original was almost a tad 'metroid' like in that sense, lots of hidden things and also those hidden fights were super cool. Also loved the artdesign, the mix of Arab and Egyptian was super cool.
Awesome video. My dad has multiple black belts and is a sai & nunchaku master, this was pretty much the only video game that he would actually sit down and watch me play. Such an awesome game that was way ahead of its time and captivated all who observed. The zenith of the CAG.
Glad you loved it, and really cool to hear the story about your father. I always appreciated just how realistic Ryu's movements looked despite them being obviously fictional in nature. But when you see him run on a wall, you almost believe it to be possible. You ever play the sequels?
@@RaengStinger Hi thank you for your reply. I watched the whole video, loved every minute of it, I even learned new details that I had never really dug into (I never got to try out the intercept move, wonder if I can still buy the hurricane packs...). I have played NG2, and at the time it was the only reason I upgraded to a new console. I skipped out on any other versions after that game since Tomo made it pretty clear his "vision" was complete. I think Ninja Gaiden 2 always gets the cold shoulder or gets overlooked as the lesser of the 2 games.
Hey Travis, glad you enjoyed it! As noted, the Hurricane Packs are no longer available. There are...unsavory ways of getting it still but it requires some hard hacks. I agree Ninja Gaiden 2 often gets a cold shoulder and I also gave it one for a long time. It took me a long, long, long time to finally 'get' the game, but I get it now, and it is amazing. I might even like it more than NGB, but that's a personal matter. You try Razor's Edge?
@@RaengStinger Never tried Razor's Edge. I watched some footage of it, I'm not sure how I felt about the major changes they made to both Ryu and the gameplay. I am glad you gave NG2 another chance. When it first launched, I picked it up and dropped it after killing the Armadillo boss. I think I wasn't in the right mindset for the new mechanics and I felt many aspects of the combat to be "cheap". I reapproached it sometime later, and when I took time to learn delimbing, the new weapon combos, and enemy patterns, the game "clicked" for me and really showed how much freedom you get to express yourself. For that reason (and the beautiful world we get to hop around), NG2 now proudly sits next to its older brother on the shelf and gets just as much love. I am actually replaying it now on MN. I hope to see you touch on NG2 someday and I know we'll see 3 (since you mentioned it at the end).
Razor's Edge, at its best, is Ninja Gaiden 2's true sequel and maybe even better. But at its worst it really is one of the worst action titles around. When it clicks it really fucking clicks though. But it is held back by so many problems like bad levels, boring enemies, wave after wave of mooks, unresponsive controls, lack of new content and more. With Ninja Gaiden 2 I, personally, have a weird history. Sigma2 is the game that got me into the series. I dropped it twice but picked it up constantly and eventually learned to love it. I then went backwards and played NG2 last but hated it. Felt so cheap and unfair. But once you accept that that is the point, you love it. I'm currently working on the article version of Ninja Gaiden 2 on my website, keep an eye out on stingermagazine.com this month, it should go live before the end of October :)
I just wanted some quick Ninja Gaiden video fodder to fall asleep to...but what I got was a legit documentary that kept me awake until the end. I did not know what I was signing up for. No regrets! :)
Fantastic job on this! I hope you continue with this long-form style. Well researched and great editorial input. Your English is strong as well. Keep it up, really looking forward to more content from Raeng on my subscriptions feed.
Thank you so much Seanathan! To note, these videos are based on the articles I write for my site. If you like, you can already read most of them at www.stingermagazine.com
Sekiro made me feel how ninja gaiden made me feel when I was a kid playing through this amazing series. from soft hit a home run cashing in on the absence of ninjas in videogames atm it mixed tenchu and ninja gaiden in a masterful way. Awesome video i remember Iberian site I used to be there all the time mostly watching videos not interacting with the community. I started replaying the ninja gaiden games on Xbox one x and man I forgot how hard they were even if I just finished sekiro I still get my ass handed to me in ninja gaiden
Glad you liked the video man! I bought an Xbox One X especially for Ninja Gaiden again and don't regret it for a second. Just such a fantastic experience. Which one is your favourite in the series?
Raeng the first one definitely , I didn’t play black though I had the original version and the dlcs . But right now I’m playing the black version on one x , while ng2 was the one that I played the most the first one is always on my memories. I see gameplay of the second one and honestly forgot most of it lol but the first one I remember every curse word I said LOL I can’t believe it’s almost 20 years since that game launched
Great video man, I can see you spent a lot of time and effort in its creation. Very detailed history of the series. Perhaps in the future you will do a similar video for NG2/NGS2.
Let me just start off by saying, this is an excellent video. I've always found the fact that there are next to no videos strictly analyzing Ninja Gaiden to be kind of unfortunate. Sure, some people include it in their videos talking about the action genre, but it never really has gotten the in-depth look at its distinctive brand of enduring, efficient gameplay that it really deserves until now. I've thought about making a video on the game for a long time because I feel it's unique brilliance hasn't been discussed enough, but I haven't really gone through with it yet because of the time consuming, painstaking research required and how tight the writing would have to be to do it justice. However, this video definitely does the topic justice. I can tell the quality writing alone took you a long time to create, I can only imagine the work that must have been put into getting the appropriate footage and doing the voice over. Anyway, I found your video to be extremely insightful and intriguing. It's obvious it comes from the perspective of someone experienced with the games and with a clear respect and passion for them. The highlight of the community aspect near the end was a nice touch too. An aspect that wasn't really necessary to highlight for this kind of video on paper, but adds a ton in terms of just giving perspective. Ever since I found this video, I've been skimming through some of the articles on your website and loving what I've been reading. I'm certainly going to give some of those articles a full perusing when I have the time. Best of luck in your future endeavors. You really do have a knack for this sort of thing it seems.
First off: thank you so much for the kind words. It is one thing to say you like it, but I really appreciate you noticing how much time and effort was put into it. To give you a little peak, it took around 3 months to make in between my job. Mostly recording the voice-over, rewriting the (once only meant for reading) text and contacting high quality players for authorization to use their footage and editing that together. I saw you also make videos yourself, so I assume we both know how much work can go into these things, especially if you're (too) passionate. Please don't let this video stop you from making your own on the series! I agree that Ninja Gaiden has a very low amount of representation online, partly because I feel it is harder to nail down just how good it is. With a title like Devil May Cry you can easily show a combo-video and get a basic message across, here it is a lot more complicated. Doesn't help that in online discussions most people acknowledge the series is great...but they rarely really know why. Such a shame! Glad you like the site as well! It is the main thing I work on outside of my job and I'm glad people are enjoying it! I hope to put more of the articles in video-form as time progresses. If you're interested, it also has a forum, you're more than welcome to join our little group of action-fans :)
@Gouf due to it's niche genre, it's most likely too difficult for the mainstream, whether it be consumer or reviewer. Games today focus more on making it easier to feel badass and great, while not focusing on the elite players of games' past, i.e. DMC5. DMC5 is good in its own right but has been critically acclaimed for letting people easily feel badass and achieve SSS ranks without the time and dedication and skill needed of the past games. Where you were once ranked on Time, Damage received, and Orbs collected, all have been removed to focus entirely on combo ranking which is easier now more than ever. Luckily companies like From Software stay true to hardcore gamers, these companies are few and far in between, favoring safer more business-practical games to gain the most financial success. It's a damn shame, but it's the state of the gaming industry and entertainment industry as a whole to make things more easily accessible and understandable for the common denominator. Let's pray one day to see the return of real challenge and bring back single player tournament's again to cement who's the master once more.
The one on NGII, NGS2, NG3 and NG3:RE are already available in article form on the website. I'm mulling them over currently and hoping to translate the one on NGII into a video this year if possible. If you can't wait, you can read them here: www.stinger-magazine.com
Great video, I've been making it my mission to play many of these character action style games this year, and Ninja Gaiden Black is very high on my list of what I want to try next. I really liked how you went into the development history and how you broke down the game's great design choices. I'm looking forward to playing this game and seeing whatever you make next.
Hello Joseph! Thank you! I really hope you will enjoy your time with Ninja Gaiden Black, and urge you to - after having delved into enough - to also give the rest of the series a shot. While I came of a bit critical, I also do note that it is still at the top of the genre. Which game in the genre have you liked the most until now?
It's a tough choice between Devil May Cry 3 and Revengeance for me. I really like how the different styles and weapons Dante has in that game allow for approaching missions in different ways. Revengeance was my first exposure to the genre when it got its PC port and I've been in love with that game ever since. The fights with Vergil and the fight with Armstrong are top notch and are some of the most fun I've ever had playing a video game. I'll definitely be sure to look into playing the rest of the series as well since they are all really good games as well then.
I'm on a mission of doing the same thing Joseph. Already beat Bayonetta, DMC 3SE, DMC 1, MGR. I've already beaten this games before but I want to tick all the games off the list. I need to rebuy Black and 2 (sold them long ago, regret it now). Hope you enjoy the genre, if you want a comprehensive list of all games in the genre, I can hook you up with one.
Sure, that'd be great. I've really enjoyed everything I've played in the genre so far yeah, and I have a few ideas of what I need to pick up next but any recommendations would be really appreciated.
Think both of you might find this a good read: stinger.actieforum.com/t159-list-of-games-in-the-genre So much games noted here, as well as in the comments. The biggest danger you can undergo is miss out on the smaller titles which hold a lot of gaming value too I'd say.
I used to hate him too, but I can't blame the guy considering the pressure he was on from all sides. Nioh is pretty slick, but I'm not sure how much he had to do with that combat engine's success.
This was actually a great video that deserves more views. Easily the most in depth video on Ninja Gaiden on RUclips. Looking forward to Part 2 if you're planning to make it. You might want to change the title of the video to "Ninja Gaiden Retrospective 30th Anniversary" though, so you could get more views. Also I think you would be better off providing your own gameplay for the most part instead of relying on others. I understand how much more time and effort you would need to do so, but the quality of the video would be more consistent.
Excellent point with the title, I edited immediately. Thank you for the advice and also for the kind words! I can understand what you mean when you say the footage was a bit inconsistent. The reason I did that was to give it a feeling it was made for and by the community, especially with the piece near the end. Right now around half of the footage was mine (player: raeng). But felt like paying respects to the other greats, Ninja Gaiden is more than just me :) And this video, and all those in the future, are based on articles written for the website: www.stingermagazine.com (there's also a forum if you're interested). If you like to read, you can already catch the Ninja Gaiden II article, at least its first chapter. If you're not a reader, but a viewer, know that I'll eventually convert it to video once I feel the piece is fine-tuned enough! Have a nice day!
@@RaengStinger You got a point about wanting to represent the community. If the players in the video are okay with you using their gameplay then that's cool. Anyways I just subbed and thanks for the info.
The best and most comprehensive evaluation of the ninja gaiden series that is almost a feature-length presentation needs more views and recognition; ironically just like these niche games. It's easy to dismiss these games as nostalgic masochism, but players today won't understand the skill and dedication it takes to be a master ninja. Sadly, people today would rather watch people play multiplayer games and wish to be as good as them, without putting in the time themselves, which is a sure sign of the times, therefore realization that consumers of today prefer safer, more "casual-friendly" games than the hardcore-elitist niche titles of the past. No one wants to "get good" anymore and rather watch amazing players for they're more entertained by watching than participating. I believe the saying goes, very simply, "practice makes perfect". Maybe that is an ideology long forgotten in today's era. I hope one day to see a return to form so we can once more have a single player-focused tournament and bring pride and skill and achievement back into the minds of the consumer's so that we may receive a proper Ninja Gaiden sequel. All-in-all though, this was a great video capturing what made this niche genre so great to begin with and is always important to remember the past to forge a better future.
Humbled by these kind words, thank you! Ninja Gaiden is a series of which I'm very curious to see how it would be received in the modern era. We caught a glimpse of it when Black launched on the Xbox One, and most didn't take too kindly too it. Some complained about its emphasis on exploration instead of hallway after hallway combat, while others cited the title as unfair or 'not like Dark Souls'. I'd shudder to think of their reaction should something like Ninja Gaiden II be made available to the modern audience. Ninja Gaiden really is a series that wanted you to practice, learn, but also react. I think that last element is what makes it so fun to play even today. Thinking on your two feet! If you like this style of reviewing / analysis, I highly recommend you check out the site: stinger-magazine.com/ This video was basically one of my oldest articles there put into video form. There's also a forum if you're interested in talking with like minded fellows :) Cheers!
@@RaengStinger The "just like Dark Souls" meme is way out of hand in context of gaming journalist's today facing even the slightest of challenges, it's downright cringe-worthy now. I once saw the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remaster get compared to Dark Souls... What a time to be alive lmao. I'll for sure check out your site, for I believe it's important to have respectable gaming journalist's in this oversaturated market of quantity over quality. Much respect to you✌
@@LesserCheshire It is sad, Demon's Souls was such a breath of fresh air that generation but its spiritual succesor has set a trend that the genre's greats are only now slowly escaping. If you want a laugh, RUclips "Dark Souls of Journalism" - fantastic comedy. Thanks again friend! I mostly do this as a hobby on the side while working full time. But I am planning to release more videos like this, no promises though. I think if you liked this video, I recommend reading the Ninja Gaiden II pieces, they are sort of the sequels to this video!
Just read the Quality over Quantity article about character action games and their choice to implement different mechanics according to the title stated. A very well-written analysis, if I say so myself; a well-needed contrast of old vs new and comparisons between multiple characted action games. I'd love to hear your personal thoughts and opinions on DMC5. Maybe a future article a video perhaps 👈👈
@@LesserCheshireI still have to do the name of the site honor by doing a DMC1 article first I feel haha! And build up from there! My personal thoughts on DMC5 are mixed. On the one hand it is a miracle a title like it exists, a game fully focused on complex combat mechanics. On the other hand I also feel that it lacks focus and vision. Constant cutscenes, long load times, extreme fanservice, lineair level design, constant character switching instead of three campaigns, drab colorscheme making for hard to distinguish foes, overlapping weapons, bad DLC practices and more. Those are minor flaws I feel. I think the game did a lot of fantastic elements. It plays smooth. Combos are very creative and I like how they gave Dante the ability to customize his load-out again. A nice evolution and mixture of his DMC3 and DMC4 setup. Gameplay wise it has something for everyone, almost. You can style, with a high skill ceiling, you can toy with efficient play and both are rewarded with high ingame ranks. The only thing missing is a good challenge. Even on the hardest setting it doesn't go beyond "this enemy has a bucketload of HP", something that DMC1 and 3 did have. I also really like the Breaker system, though the constant menu usage etc. tied to that, not a fan of that. What about you :)?
@@RaengStinger no problem man! Do you plan on doing a NGII Retrospective? Even though that game is kind of a step down to NG Black, just like you mentioned.
@@arkanjoteixeira the article version has been live for a while now! But the video will happen...one day haha! I have warmed up more to the title since making this video I must admit.
I never understood the hate for Sigma and the Rachel chapters. I really enjoyed them and it was a nice change of pace. Trying out her new ninpo and exclusive moves was great. And the new graphics along with the dual blades being my favorite weapon make sigma stand out above black in my opinion.
I can understand that, no worries. It was more that Sigma started to falter in the details, the extra content is great that it's there but after a few runs you can tire quickly of her limited moveset and mobility and just want Ryu back. That's mostly what players trip up over. It is a fine game, but if I had to choose which one I'd play ten times, I'd choose Black. Sigma is fantastic for a few runs though imo. Agree the new graphics are fantastic. Very vibrant and colorfull compared to the - at times - drab original.
22:43 this isn’t accurate. In HP1 the Yotunfrau fight during the Marbus gauntlet has pink fiends accompanying him. It’s even in the footage you used previously.
Explain this to me though, because I don't get it. I made a one hour plus passionate video about a game I love and the only thing you want to say is "those five seconds there is not correct". What pushes you to do so? I think that's a very weird reaction honestly.
@@RaengStinger chill out bro. I’m just saying this, because I recently beat HP1. I’ve actually watched this video several times in the past and really enjoy it. I guess I just sounded a bit too negative. I just wanted to point something out.
Great coverage of the game. After spending around 1000 hours running time on the original, black and sigma, I felt the same way about the scoring system. I was only interested in hitting 40 million points as a personal goal for the mission mode. I had gotten injured and took myself out of weight lifting for 2 years. In that time my intensity went into gaming, my real passion, and I really wanted to test my limits. NG was my favorite game and was perfect for that. The reason more points didnt interest me was because it became heavily based around farming UT's and exploiting repetitive patterns on each mission. For me that really undermined what the game was about for me. I really enjoyed the weapon variety and the few moves that I used, but UTs limited everything down to one move basically. I was mainly interested in beating all missions on master ninja without healing/ninpo which is what got me close to the 40 mil. I had to do a little farming to push the score over and always hated that part. I had maybe 2 missions that I never completed without healing. I believe it was the two tanks and one of the dual boss missions. Sigma later even added triple boss encounters. Alma 2 I did without healing on master ninja but gave in and used ninpo to take out those crab fiends near the end. That fight took the longest. Before the mission mode I would do very hard runs of the original game with no healing. I did that as a personal challenge only. NG2 felt much less polished and it was downhill from that point. It would be great to see a strong comeback for the series.
This deserves way more views! I watched the whole thing despite not liking Ninja Gaiden. It upsets me that I can't get in to it, since on paper, it sounds like my kind of game. I've played this game at least once a year, every year, since its release and every time I come away disappointed. Because of how closely the concept of the game matches my taste in gaming, I just can't let it go, and keep going back to it year after year hoping that this will be the time that it all falls in to place and I "get" it. My main issues with it are that I play for the challenge, and the Normal difficulty just isn't challenging to me. So right off the bat, the whole reason that I'm playing in the first place isn't being satisfied, at least on Normal. I've never made it to the hard mode, since I get bored and quit long before I get that far. My second issue with the game is that I think it has no personality. This isn't a deal breaker since the gameplay is the focus, however when combined with how unchallenging I find the Normal difficulty to be, it results in a game that bores me to tears. If you see this comment, please tell me what you like about it?
Hey Swinny, thanks for the great comment, really appreciate it and the time you spent watching it! I agree the game isn't much of a challenge on the lower settings, but what can help is to shift your attention elsewhere. I played the game on all systems around 8+ times, so when I bought Black I had to (once again) beat Normal, Hard and Very Hard before I could even touch Master Ninja which is my jam. So I would try to challenge myself. Every fight has a timer, so I try to make that, I tried to max Essence, I only used certain weapons or skipped using UTs. On my Black Very Hard run I did an OLB no Ninpo (Original LifeBar) just because I was so knowledgeable. The game is flexible so you can do this. In terms of personality, I honestly don't know what you mean though, the game to me has a ton in terms of animations, level design, music: it is such a beautiful package to me. Or do you mean something else with it? You could also try out Ninja Gaiden 2, which is very 'similar but different'. What other action titles do you enjoy, perhaps I can find something else you might enjoy : )
@@RaengStinger Well, it's my favorite genre overall, so I enjoy pretty much everything else(this is why I just can't let Ninja Gaiden go!). Bayonetta 1, DMC 1 and 3, Metal Gear Rising, The Wonderful 101 and God Hand are the main ones. Hopefully I'll be adding DMC 5 and Bayonetta 3 to this list soon. I really love the old school Ninja Gaiden games, and since Ninja Gaiden Arcade(which I've never played) is unlockable in Black, I'm going to make it my goal to unlock this. Hopefully along the way I can grow to appreciate the game. I've never wanted to like a game so badly before, and nor have I been so dedicated, playing it year after year just to see if it clicks this time! I love your passion for the game. Your video has given me the motivation to play it again sooner rather than later.
@@1SWINZ1 Hm, I can understand you. Ninja Gaiden is very different than most of those games that are mostly action focussed. Ninja Gaiden is 'just' an adventure game that has really well thought out combat. Perhaps you should try one of the other versions? Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the same as Black but removes a lot of the exploration and puzzles in favor of more combat while also adding some weapons. Ninja Gaiden 2 is one hundred percent combat as well. Could be that those will click more. Note that most of the unlockable classical games do not work in Black if you are playing on the 360. Arcade Ninja Gaiden does work though (albeit with a few bugs). Other than that we have very similar tastes. DMC3, MGR:R, W101, GH etc. Lots of footage about that on this channel too. Did a lot of run work for MGR:R, god I love that game. Also Vanquish for me btw. Excellent.
@@RaengStinger I got rid of my 360 when I got my XB1(which is where I now play Black). I regret this, because I really want to try out Ninja Gaiden 2. I keep searching Google every few months to find out whether NG2 is available through backward compatability yet. There's no sign of it, but you'd think that with Black(and NG3, I think?) being available, they'd make sure that NG2 was there to complete the set. I'm holding out for that, and will jump on it the second it releases. That said, I do own the NG Sigma 2 on PS3, but honestly, not only are the graphics and performance worse, but I hear that they downgraded the challenge - the whole point of a NG game, to me - for this edition of the game. What this would mean is that, if I were to play it on PS3, there'd be this feeling that I'm getting an inferior experience hanging over each and every second of it, and for that reason, I'm not interested. I just want the 360 version for my XB1. I feel the same way about Sigma 1. They also gimped the challenge in the original Sigma, right? That's what I heard.
@@1SWINZ1 Shame you got rid of your X360, Ninja Gaiden 2 really should be added to backwards compatability but I fear the game's shoddy code prevents this from happening. The game was very unfinished and has a ... unique... history to say the least (nearly the whole team left after its completion after Itagaki and crew sued Tecmo). The Sigma version of 2 is fine btw, it is just very different. Sigma 2 runs much better and has better graphics (no slowdown or dropped inputs), but to do this it lowered the number of enemies by a large amount. To balance this enemies have a ton more health and on Master Ninja every hit is instant death basically. Which one is more difficult depends on your playstyle, I personally think Sigma 2 is harder by default but Ninja Gaiden 2 gets harder if you do challenge runs since it really is built around specific methods at times. No idea where you heard the notion that Sigma 2 runs worse, that is very incorrect. More insight in Sigma 2 versus 2: www.reddit.com/r/ninjagaiden/comments/7g2k1g/if_i_love_ninja_gaiden_black_how_blown_away_will/dqhwe76/ Sigma 1 is a lot harder than Black, enemies are more aggressive due to a PS3 Software glitch, enemies come in larger waves, deal more damage, you don't start with the Lunar-staff on Master Ninja, some items are gained later-on. Some of the more boring fights are streamlined however (like the tank fights). Black is the better game imo and that is the general consensus, but Sigma is harder, no question about that. Most people like to bash the Sigma's blindly but they are generally very uninformed. Hope I could clarify a bit of this with this comment. The beauty is that you can just play them all if you have the time. They are all very own their own beast. I have around 200 hours in Sigma 1, 400 in Black, 100 in the original 2004 version, 920 in Sigma 2 (don't ask) and 200~ in Ninja Gaiden 2 of plaything this series for the last 10~ years. And I sometimes still pop another version in just for variation's sake. They each have their strengths and weaknesses. Sigma 1 has a Survival Mode and is super hard, Black has fun puzzles and feels more polished with cooler costumes. The 2004 version has the Future Ninja costume and a different Ultimate Technique System. Sigma 2 is great to combo around since there are less enemies, NG2 I play when I want to fight for my life. Etc etc.
Still stuck on chapter 1 of MNM...I haven't been playing much recently, but after watching your video, I think I'll start again soon. I also checked out NGrealms and signed up to join the site, so thanks for that! I'll upload my gameplay once I get some successful runs lol
No doubt I will take you on that should I find myself in need of some wisdom and strategy...I just have to sit down and play for more than a half hour hahaha

"Thanks for watching the video"... dude thank you for making it. Extremely well put together for one of the best games I've had the honor of playing
Appreciate the love man! Really means a lot to me! Glad you enjoyed it so much and continue to enjoy Ninja Gaiden!
@@RaengStinger absolutely. I'm actually ashamed I didn't watch it sooner...
I just wanted some quick Ninja Gaiden video fodder to fall asleep to...but what I got was a legit documentary that kept me awake until the end. I did not know what I was signing up for. No regrets! :)
Really appreciate it Jon, glad you had fun and hope you learned something new :)
this game was definitely ahead of its time played it on the original xbox when I was kid and been playing it ever since, still play today very often.
Fantastic job on this!
I hope you continue with this long-form style. Well researched and great editorial input. Your English is strong as well.
Keep it up, really looking forward to more content from Raeng on my subscriptions feed.

Thanks for the analysis. It doesn’t get much better than this.
Glad you enjoyed it:)
Amazing video! Ninja Gaiden Black is my all-time favourite game.
Glad you enjoyed it Dean! Hope I was able to do the game some justice with this video :)
Definitely! And i'm delighted to say even the 04 version of the game holds up tremendously.
@@DeanH92 Absolutely! I think Black is better, but I really love the way the Ultimate Technique system works in NG2004, just so well tuned.
Great video man, I can see you spent a lot of time and effort in its creation. Very detailed history of the series. Perhaps in the future you will do a similar video for NG2/NGS2.
Hey man, glad you liked it! I am working on the script of NG2/NGS2/NGS2+ at this very moment but it will take a while, rest assured it will happen :)

Please tell me you're gonna make long form retrospectives on NG2 and 3 and maybe even the DMC series
The one on NGII, NGS2, NG3 and NG3:RE are already available in article form on the website. I'm mulling them over currently and hoping to translate the one on NGII into a video this year if possible.

Think both of you might find this a good read:

So much games noted here, as well as in the comments. The biggest danger you can undergo is miss out on the smaller titles which hold a lot of gaming value too I'd say.
great video 10/10..love this game recently bought a capture card and recording some gameplay of ninja gaiden..favorite action game ever
Excellent video
Every Ninja Gaiden vid I leave a comment"Hayashi Yosuke is trash
" lol
But felt like paying respects to the other greats, Ninja Gaiden is more than just me :)
And this video, and all those in the future, are based on articles written for the website: www.stingermagazine.com (there's also a forum if you're interested).

Absolute fantastic video
Appreciate it Ark!
@@RaengStinger Nice to hear it!! Looking forward to the video.
Ironically those fiend Ninja Dogs in Ninja Gaiden 2 were definitely master ninja level lol
purchased the 2004 iteration - the best.
Enjoy man! Fantastic games the lot of them :)
@@RaengStinger The one I got, got lots of play time. Frankly games were mixed quality after that.
I think Nintendo still does single player tournaments via Nintendo World Championships, yep they still do that surprisingly!!
More insight in Sigma 2 versus 2: www.reddit.com/r/ninjagaiden/comments/7g2k1g/if_i_love_ninja_gaiden_black_how_blown_away_will/dqhwe76/
Sigma 1 is a lot harder than Black, enemies are more aggressive due to a PS3 Software glitch, enemies come in larger waves, deal more damage, you don't start with the Lunar-staff on Master Ninja, some items are gained later-on.
Etc etc.
Perfect
Thanks friend :)
