Gotta be honest I felt eerily calm watching today’s game. I knew as soon as they got to the bullpen there would be chances to score as the brewers pen is the nastiest you’re gonna see in the playoffs. Edit. : Hope to meet you at game 3 finally jolly
Same here.i just felt confident because it was only 1 to nothing and yeah when wheeler came out the mets knew it was going to happen.its to good of a line up to not score anything.
Same. I said a couple of days ago that I would’ve been fine with Wheeler dominating, the Mets keeping it close, and then ambushing their bullpen. Speaking of ambushing, the sequencing to Schwarber was weird. I wanted Senga to avoid throwing Schwarber any fastballs in the zone unless he got to two strikes and could freeze him with it. Schwarber was 100% going to be fastball-hunting, so I’m glad Álvarez called for a first pitch slider (and we saw the ugly sword that resulted). But I HATED that he called for a 1-1 fastball. Senga had to throw it for a strike so he didn’t fall behind, but he doesn’t get whiffs with it, and there was no way he was going to get a freeze take there. Bad job there, but it worked out. I just hope they game plan better tomorrow.
My dad is a lifetime Braves fan and I've been rooting for them since i found my love for baseball, he'd kill me if rooted for any NL team, but I'm rooting for yall just cuz of you Jolly
The recent late-game heroics have basically made the Mets incapable of worrying about being down unless it's an absolute blowout. The lead-off home-run came in and I couldn't give a shit. I knew as soon as we could get Wheeler out, we'd have a chance. The Mets are just magical right now. I'll be at Citi for game three and I cannot wait!
You know how offended I'd be as an opposing team member if a dude came out in a playoff series against my team and was like "Yo, lemme get some live ABs real quick. I need some practice" which is basically what Senga did. But I had the same energy as you, Jolly; I was calm and really relaxed the whole game. I would have understood if they dropped this game. But they are battlers. The pitchers matched Wheels, which is... well, I actually did expect a low scoring game with Wheeler pitching against the Mets and the Phillies lineup trying to get back in the groove after the break. I was happy with the win, but I, thankfully, was able to sit back and chill as opposed to wringing my hands for 9 innings following it up with an explosion of joy. Too many of those games shorten our lifespan. Lol
LETS GO METS! THESE AMAZING METS! OMG I have been full of happy tears! I wore my lucky green Mets jersey and hat today because I knew we’d pull through 👏🏽👏🏽⚾️💙🧡 LFGM
After the week we’ve had I wasn’t worried about this game at all. Just waited for Wheeler to get taken out and had confidence we’d take care of business. Thanks Jerry and Jolly in advance for the morning podcast, these games have me so hyped I need as much Shea Station as possible!
Hell yeah! Echoing some others' sentiments that I felt somewhat calm throughout the game despite trailing through 7 innings of Wheeler's dominance. Like you, figured this was one we very well could lose, but was holding out hope for getting to the bullpen. Really great AB's in the 8th inning. LOVE this team. LFGM.
I'm not one to complain about not getting some calls on the road but that was on a whole other level bad, unreal. How many guys got the bat ripped right out of their hands, no wonder he had that many whiffs. Great job by the pitchers to keep it 1 run, you had to feel good as a mets fan down 1 when the BP came in.
This was the first game where I was actually mad about Wheeler. I haven’t even thought about him being great for the Phillies and couldn’t quite get there for the Mets, but today it was really bugging me. So glad they won.
Wheeler had great stuff, so I'm not trying to take anything away from him, but with all the balls getting called strikes in his favor, that obviously added to his dominance. Some of those bad calls stayed in the eighth inning, (I'm thinking that first pitch strike to Iglesias in the eighth inning) but with relievers coming in who were more shaky than Wheeler, the Mets could do better with two strikes. I'm interested to see how balls and strikes will be called for game 2.
Fake Phillie fans leaving in the 8th inning 🤦🏼♀️ I remember a game where we were down 9-5 and we came back and beat them in the 9th cuz of Nimmo. We have been in Citizens Bank we know that crowd and we DON’T CARE!!!!! LFGM!!!
Hitters will then try to protect against that pitch knowing the ump will call it, but since it’s not a strike the likelihood of swinging and missing is higher.
@@CrawfishKaliari I'm sick of my team striking out on ball 4 against bad pitchers. Watching it every game for the past two months. Then the Mets come, get dominated all day by Wheeler and not only does the bullpen suck, but now the mets think they are good because they think we haven't been striking out against every pitcher for months. They think we struck out cuz they're good 😂

Me too. I felt that even if we lost that game we were good enough that I felt confident going into tm.

This is facts
Iglesias' 10 pitch at bat was poetry

Felt like we were watching Degrom pitch today. And with us winning after Wheeler left it makes it even more like Degrom pitched today 😂
it is spelled deGrom

I hope we get a sweep.

But Jolly, the Phillies got Diaz to warm up in the 9th inning, so clearly they were the real winners today
Damn, you sound like a loyal Mets fan. I feel your pain.
I recommend you see a psychiatrist. Start with 5 times a week.
Totally agree. Season ovah! 😆
He's talking about the Philly broadcast.. they said that haha
@Casey4242 The sad part is that it was the channel broadcast, but you couldn't tell by the way they talked through Phil's up alllll game.
Got tickets for game 3, Can't Wait. Hope to see you there LGM
3 straight home playoff loses for the Phillies. I want to win Game 2, let’s get back to Citi Field with a 2-0 lead 🧡💙🗽🍎
Got my GIANT OMG sign made for Game 3! Front row 139 by the Apple! Building is going to be rocking!! LFGM!!!
Going to game 3 and it’ll be my first mets playoff game ever, can’t wait!
If the Mets win 2 more against the Phillies, they will punch their ticket to the NLCS for the 1st time in 9 years.
KickASS. Super analysis off a terrific victory.
I'm flying across country and have tix at Citi on Tuesday.

These guys are fun to watch. Let’s go Mets.
They are an absolute pleasure!
Congrats dude ! As a Braves fan I enjoyed watching the Phillies lose 😂. BTW I really enjoy watching your unbiased videos

Wheeler is great, add the shadows plus the ump giving him 6 inches off the plate(didn't give the Mets the same advantage) = lots of swing and misses
Wheeler got the benefit of more calls.
This will be a sweep. Will be that crazy.
Jolly, you need a shirt that says "My Team's Games Start in the 8th Inning!"
Don’t think I’ll be able to go to any of the home games but I’m walking into enemy territory tomorrow. Let’s Go Mets!
Down 1-0? No problem for these Mets!
I'm going to game 3!
“OH MY GAWD, ITS SENGA WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!”
I’ll be there with the 7 line for game 3 and potential gm 4.
LFGM!!!!!!!!!
Even if Mets win game 2, THE SERIES IS NOT OVER!!!

Umps were ATROCIOUS. We won that game basically despite them
Just happy we get two at home and I hope the series ends with us winning at citifield
I think us MET fans are probably the most realistic in the sense of winning and losing.
SKO METS

"I'm not BANKing on it" 😏
Can't wait to see the Ump Scorecard.

How could the umpire help with swing and miss?

@@matthewcenter1851Thank you. Astute.
Philly teams always be pumping up these Cinderella teams. Chasing bad pitches for months and the Mets taking credit for that win today.
