- I got stung by a yellow jacket as I was preparing for this Cheap Brew Review of Heineken Lager!
Heineken harkens visions of being in a European town square watching bra-less women in tank tops with unshaven arm pits walking by. Probably the most famous of Dutch beers at 5% abv and fond memories of touring the brewery when I was in Amsterdam. Grab a beer and watch. CHEERS!
#Heineken #Lager #Amsterdam #CheapBrewReview
Truthfully this has been a favorite through the years and it doesn't try to be something it is not. The cans definitely taste better.
I've got one left in the cooler. Going to drink it now. #CansTasteBetterThanBottles CHEERS!
I can totally agree about Heineken being like that crazy girlfriend it always seems to find it’s way back to me haha!
Right?!
Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
I like Heineken, and I miss Heineken Dark.
That was a good beer. CHEERS!
I love heniken beer one of my favourite beer All time favourite
It's a good standard Euro lager. CHEERS!
I haven't tried this in years, and always felt it tasted funky and skunky in the green bottles. I'll have to try it in cans (I'll skip the yellow jacket sting so not a fully accurate comparison!)
Now that you mention it, previously I've only had it in bottles (besides tap in Amsterdam). Maybe the cans are better. Let me know how it goes for you. CHEERS!
As I drink this from bottles, I fully agree.
The green bottle is cool af
To be honest I always preferred glass bottles the taste feels much more pure that way
Can tastes fresher
I've always avoided Heineken because I've heard a lot of people comment that it was skunky over the years. I decided to buy a 6 pack of it for the 1st time today and it wasn't skunky, which I was really happy. I don't know if it's changed, but I thought it was pretty good.
Did you get bottles or cans? People are saying it's skunky in bottles but fine in cans. I may have to do a side-by-side comparison. You're subscribed, right? CHEERS!
I was looking for a single can today at one of my local gas stations. They didn't have any, so I decided to still buy the bottles and I was kind of was expecting it to be a little rough when I tried it. To me it wasn't skunky and was pretty clean, which I was very surprised. And yes I'm subscribed, cool channel🍺 .
I had one for the first time in many years about a year ago and it was relatively inoffensive. Not my go to but not something I'd avoid either.
A Dutch Budweiser essentially. Maybe a little better. CHEERS!
I remember back in the 90s, Heineken was a sort of fancy beer to drink in Australia (anything imported was trendy). It's not too bad as far as macros go. I drank a case of it last year under lockdown.
Lockdown is responsible for the extra 15 beer pounds I've put on! I actually started this channel because I was bored during lockdown after being furloughed. Not a big boy FOSTERS ? 😂😂😂
It's a delightful lager - crisp, clean and simple and all the better for it.
Heineken is my go to favorite beer. It’s always there for me. Also im not picky but I think it is so much better out of a bottle compared to a can. Usually I don’t care but Heineken taste different when it’s in a can.
Also, I never pour my Heineken in a glass, it’s just perfect in the bottle
I have this in the fridge in my regular rotation. Always happy to twist off a cold one
Good 'fridge rotation beer. Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't SUBBED yet, please do. Check out more of my 140+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!

Unless I'm mistaken the bottle used to say "serve at 50F " back in the 80s
You are correct !!
Tour sounds fricken great.!!

Ah, beer from the source is amazing. I’ve had Spaten in Munich a number of years ago, served in liter glass steins in one of the Spaten tents. Gold!
Great review, cheers!
Nothing like drinking the local! Local, German beers are probably the best. CHEERS!
Spaten is the first company that brewed lagers
LOVE Heineken as long as its on tap or from the can. Green bottles….NO WAY!!!!
Watching this while sipping Heineken 👍
Hahaha 😂 like your content sir keep it up
Btw, I like Heinekens for the fact that it’s got 5% alc vol. Taste wise, I say it’s good for a lagger beer and affordability.
Drank a lot of Heineken on tour in Europe and it did seem better. Drank warm Kronenbourgs in Paris but not by choice. Will never forget it. Bought them at a grocery, Monop' PIGALLE, and our bandleader insisted we get them warm. I managed to down several, went back to my room at 4am and had a "triangle" sandwich with salmon and cheese and a Coca Cola while The Smurfs played in the background in French. Cheers!
Gotta love a beer that makes memories! I had Kronenbourg in the South of France at a cafe overlooking the Sea and it was nice and cold. Good times! CHEERS!
@@CheapBrewReview Oh man that sounds amazing! Hoping to go back one day non-work-related and enjoy it more. Cheers!
I do like my Irish Red Ales. Stuck on my go-to, Smithwicks ... though swallowed up/brewed by corporate brewing these days, not in Kilkenny IE Ireland
Jim from Woodstock, Ontario Canada.
You obviously drink all kinds of beers for your channel, but, what is your go to brew when you are not filming videos?
Hmmmm...excellent question. I may have to make a dedicated video to answer your question. Thank you for your view, sub and support - CHEERS!
Which one is better Heineken can or bottle?
Imma gonna have to say bottle or on tap. I stayed away from Heini for a long time because it used to give me a headache, until I drank it in Amsterdam.

Heineken is one of the better "cheap beers" . It is not anywhere near as good as a quality craft beer, but it is a step up over other cheap beers (budweiser, coors etc.)
When they swapped bottles at some point i remember thinking it was the new rolling rock, and rolling rock was a poormans heineken or something like heniken light. Back when i was first starting drinkin the old bottles were 10.99 a 12 pack and part of a if you buy 2+ deal mixed with the "craft brews" ipa offerings or seasonal/variety offerings. If i can find a mini keg on deal idk something about this beer its vary drinkable/palatable and pairs good with food/cookouts. Doesnt hurt to bring when youre somewhere where glasses/cups are generally a better move than having to dispose of a bunch of cans/bottles. Id second heiniken bc of the mini keg access/factor. Mini kegs were pretty clutch back in the partying/beerpong days. And equally great for grown up get togethers bc your friend can still pour whats left as the days pass i ftheres leftovers with minimal trash.
I love that beer great choice buddy
Glad you liked it. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
Beer is unlike wine in that it doesn't age well. I noticed that while sampling beers in Europe that they tasted better and fresher than the US import versions of those beers. It's probably just the time sitting on a cargo ship.
A beer distributor friend of mine said just that - long time sitting on a ship...then a truck...then another truck...then in the store. Thanks for watching and commenting and please subscribe if you haven't already. Check out some more of my 100+ Cheap Brew Reviews. CHEERS!
I've seen some comparisons of Rolling Rock to Heineken and I watched your reviews of both back to back, you pretty clearly see a difference between them? Great channel and review!
Thanks for the sub! Great to have you along for the ride. I guess Heineken tastes similar to what I remember Rolling Rock USED to taste like. Whateverthatmeans. Please check out some more of my 100+ Brew Reviews. CHEERS!
This is one of my go to beers. Thanks for the review.

I would like to suggest you give Grain Belt Premium Lager a try. “The friendly beer” Ice cold and great on hot day. Get a Minnesota made Beer on your list , heck give Schells Deer Brand a Try. Thanks for the great videos
Sounds amazing - and I've never heard of EITHER of those beers. Love Minnesota! Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't subscribed already, please do. Check out more of my 100+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!
Grain Belt is great but hard to find outside of Minnesota
Shill
Hamms, Grain Belt, and Schnells are the best Minnesota beers!
So does the 24 oz quals 2 Heineken 5% alcohol
Not a bad beer, I'll enjoy it from time to time. Have you tried it in the mini kegs?
I used to do mini kegs a lot in the 2000s. Might have to revisit. CHEERS!
I travel through Amsterdam a lot and Heineken there is of course fresh and tasty! Yes, I agree I have the same Love/Hate of Heineken beer. Some beers just don’t travel well, I think Heineken is one of those beers. I do remember enjoying the Heineken dark. I’m not sure they make it anymore?
That’s amazing story!

I’ve also toured the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam, I love it🍻
It was a fun time! CHEERS!
Having one now. Can type. Honestly the bottle tastes better. Probably rate it at 3.5. Would have to say I prefer Corona extra with a lime better
You still like this back when I was younger in my 20s now not really into Heineken anymore the older I am

I sell a surprising amount of Heineken at the bar I work at.. I don’t think I’ve had one in the past 10 years.. I might have to pick some up again..
Can we get a rolling rock review?
Give it a try. Like I said in the Review, I haven’t had it in years and it went down pretty good…(like an old girlfriend).
Here’s your Rolling Rock request! CHEERS! ruclips.net/video/Flwns1GxKME/видео.html
Rock in a bottle is a completely different experience than in aluminum.
@@kevinhover461 I don’t think I’ve ever had rolling rock in a can! Bottles are almost always better
I think the last time I drank Heineken was in a disco. That's how long ago it was. I don't think I had a very good impression of it, but I'm willing to try it again.
Get your hand off my Heine,🤣. My relationship with this one has definitely been back and forth. The skunk sickens me or it doesn't. 🤣 That's Heineken.
Heineken can be frustrating. Thanks for watching and commenting and please subscribe if you haven't already. Check out some more of my 100+ Cheap Brew Reviews. CHEERS!
My Heineken story- airplane problems in 100 degrees resulted in 3X trips to the gate. By law you can only be held captive for so long hence the back and forth. After several hours, people were about to mutiny, plus the plane smelled like diseased goats. To appease everyone the staff said they were opening the bar and you could have a free beverage. I demanded beer, and Heineken was the best they had. “Gimme 3,” I said, and they handed me 3 room temperature beers because of course, no refrigeration. Let me tell you, warm old Heineken tastes like wolverine piss swilled with the bile of a camel. To this day I would rather lick random door knobs than pour me a Heineken. Eeeeeew

Brian Scott flight into terror
Bought and drank a 24oz from a can tonight and it was a bit better then from a bottle but still prefer yuengling.

4th of July 2022 coworker brought 3 12 packs of Heineken that was one horrible headache

I wonder if there would be a bit of lacing if you were sipping the Heiny over inhaling it lol.

just had a big bottle a few days ago I enjoyed it.
I think it's better on tap or in bottles. CHEERS!
It feels great!!! That sting
Still a above average European lager, still brewed in Holland, unlike Stella, or many others, cans are the way to go, green bottles sunk too easy, especially coming overseas
Always find this here on the west coast on sale for $5.00 a six pack, hard to turn down for a very traditional quality beer
One of the few beers that is better in the bottle than the can. My go to when I’m low on funds.
Drinking pilsener cold I generally find most of them taste pretty much the same, with the exception of the pilseners that have more hops, like Pilsener Urquell and maybe Brand pilsener. At room temperature I taste much more differences. Most pilseners in a bottle that I have tried have a slight skunky taste, that includes Grolsch, Amstel, Stella Artois, Bavaria, Dommelsch, Brand and Heineken. Alfa beer, Budweiser and Hertog Jan are the only pilseners/lagers I know of that don't have any of that skunky-ness. But of all the pilseners I tried in a can only one has a bit of skunk in it, the Grolsch.
I like Heineken in a can, much better than the well regarded Alfa pilsener, which I find pretty bland.
the heineken 5 liter cans with tap are great
I heard the comment about how Rolling Rock use to taste like Heineken. I thought I was the only one who thought that. I use to say that Rolling Rock was a poor man's Heineken.
Now Rolling Rock has no taste at all.
BINGO! Also with both those beers, I get a slight buzz after drinking about 4 of them, then get more sober the more I drink after that. There are only a few beers in existence that do that to me. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
Brah just gulped that Snipe down
Love a cold heiny 🍻
Idk there are times were it smells fresh and good got the typical heineken smell and others i dont smell anything and the taste is bland idk hit or miss
Totally agree! Thanks for your views, sub and support - CHEERS!

Man I drink about a 12 pack throughout the day, no hangovers ever. Heineken is a beer I can drink all day. A 4 pk of pints by me is $8.99. I've already had 5 😂
I like them nice and cold
Something about this one doesn’t agree with me; massive headache and generally unwell shortly after drinking it and unfortunately it’s not a “hangover.” Sucks because it isn’t unpleasant to drink.
Yep. Like an ex-girlfriend who keeps calling. CHEERS!
Most of the asian folks here drink these in bottles. That's all my dad drinks. It's ok 4 outta 5 for me.

Heino as D4 heads call it here
I dont like Heineken because I think it is kind of a flavorless Lager. My guilty pleasure mass produced flavorless Lager is Faxe. Would you ever consider giving Grolsch a review? Also, the thing about warm beer is something very old. Top fermented beers i. e. Ale or Hefeweizen were traditionally drank at room temperature. There are still some places in England where this is done. However, most people wont drink beer unless it is cold. It is a shame because some beer is better warm.
I've never had Faxe. The only Danish beer I've had is Elephant - which I hated - and of course Carlsberg - which I do like. Grolsch is a great suggestion I put it on the list! Some parts of Ireland most notably the southeast the tradition of a bottle of stout (notably carbonated Guinness) or ale (notably MacArdles) off the shelf remains.

No allergies with Heineken?
I've been stung and swollen all month...removing facia and over grown landscape..stings are supposed to be good for arthritis. Silver lining
It's the first time I've ever been stung. It got me right on the top of the foot near the ankle. Burned like an SOB and sharp pain, too. Beer makes everything better. CHEERS!
What is it with American beers ??
The same is true in Canada, every beer you try there is so good, yet when you come back here and buy the very same brand, ech !!
I've found it's usually the water source. Local brewed is better. Also beer that has to be imported is not as fresh because it has farther to travel. What are some of your favorite brews? Heineken sucks out of the green bottle - skunk …. But poured out of the can it is a surprisingly good beer

cheers for the can. It's best out of a Keg or a can ... not a skunky green bottle :-/

I used to down a lot of that in Germany but the skunk smell got to me after awhile and I still won't go near it. You had to keep it really cold or it would start to smell awful.
