I feel like no one really talks about how truly lonely it is to move away from your family and be living on your own in a completely new place for the first time. As an introverted and family-centric person I really really struggled my freshman year of college as well. I wish I had had someone to relate to back then so I could feel s e e n, haha. But seriously, it's super important to showcase the real stuff as someone with a large social media presence. Keep doing you! ❤️

@@daniella8401 I think the good thing that you really experience once you're on campus is that everyone is in the same boat. It's really bonding to be homesick. I will say that moving from the west coast can also have a bit of a culture shock and people tend to clump together based on where they're from. Lots of opportunities for chosen family because of being in such a new environment.

As a senior in college, I just want to say that it's so normal for people to struggle during freshman year. Yet, it's so easy to feel alone in that. College can be so romanticized by parents, social media, movies, etc, but it can be really hard!! One thing that helped me a lot was a professor's advice - she told me that often, you won't really feel settled in with your own community of friends at college until the second semester of sophomore year. Hearing that helped me to feel less alone, and realize what I was going through was normal! I can't imagine what it must be like being a freshman during COVID years, but I bet there's someone out there who's feeling the same way you do *hug*
a little off topic but today i signed up for a two week film and tv production course my dream college!!!! i'm so excited aaaaa, i still have another year of school and exams before real univerity but this course it to work on putting together a portfolio to help me get into the course i want :))) linh and other youtubers have helped me so much to work towards my dream of working in film production, they've inspored me to make my own youtube videos and am currently editing my first ever short film!!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the farmers market! When I moved to DC a couple years ago I really struggled with getting to know the area. I ended up working for a local pickle company and doing three markets a week for them and driving deliveries around the DMV during the pandemic has SO helped me feel both more at home and more adventurous. 🥒🥬🌶 Here’s a pro-tip from a pickle person: best vegan kimchi is from Number 1 Sons! They’re at the DuPont market every Sunday (and just about every other DC market too).

As someone who opted to take a year out in the middle of my degree, please don't feel pressured to 'stay on track' or 'get through it'.
