I would like to add that Cruella`s character was also in "Once Upon the Time " with an equally posh and matching car for her "Zimmer Golden Spirit" Coupe.
8:24 Actually the brown one was involved in the fire and Horace rebuilds it. Same one Correction aside, i’m so glad the car is getting recognition it deserves :)
I really can't imagine Cruella having any other car. I low key wouldn't be surprised if the movie tanked if they chose a different car for her, it's absolutely perfect AND necessary for the character IMO.
Nothing beats a Good Ole Panther De Ville honestly. It’s pretty much at a DeLorean status level of iconic cars. (Plus I always love looking up the other different cars that inspired the original Car before the Panther was made. Such as the 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Atalante Faux Cabriolet and the 1936 Alvis Speed 20 SD Drophead Coupe to name a few.)
@@tylerpatton9222 BTW, Wiki says there's no 300 model, only the 2-door 100 and 2.5 and 3.5 liter 4-doors. Also, "100" refers to the expected speed in mph, so would a "300" be expected to hit 300 mph?
The original animated car was based on an era of custom coach work. Like Bugatti and Alvis Speed. Imagine Cruella traveled to France and custom ordered a car with CD initials on the hub caps. The headlights with eyes shadow that matches her own. The windshield that matches her brow line. They even got the V8 period correct. The sound it makes in the animated movie. They recorded the infamous Cadillac V16 for the low rolling burble.
I think the idle sound in the animated movie was created using a hand operated machine. Same for the sounds of the truck. Jasper’s van is a mix of layered sounds including a tube being hit by hand lol! I picked the car chase scene for a college audio project check it out on my channel!
@@SpiritEngineActually, there is a funny nickname for it called (60L Panther De-Vil VR8) there’s like nine videos about it and three of them are made by other channels for her (my aunt) she took the measurements of the Bugatti Royale and applied it to Curella’s car, she calls it the 1945 Panther De-Vil built by her father of the same name.
I don't know if this is the case anymore, but I read somewhere that the Panther De Ville used in the 101/102 Dalmatians movies is on display at Disneyland Paris. I don't think it's the same one as in Cruella, because that one was left-hand drive, and the one from the other movies is right-hand drive, like most cars in Britain.
The only issue I have with the one in Cruella is that it was a sedan, so its proportions were far worse than the coupe from 101 Dalmatians. Also, I wish the prop department would’ve given it better bumpers and wheels, as opposed to the almost truck-like qualities of that late-model version.
Also in my opinion in the live one they used the wrong car because crulla car didn't not have a trunk and the panther has a trunk plus the panther that they used was boxie the cartoon Jaguar is not that's because the cartoon car is a Jaguar so yeah I am a car design expert so yeah 👍
Definitely the right car for the movies, but being a fan of cars and LOVING the car in the animated movie, even as an 8 year old when the 1996 film came out, I wasn't impressed with the use of the Panther. The idea of a neo-classic car in general always felt 'cheap' to me: tacky. Like the MG kit cars on a Volkswagen chassis... Yawn. That aside, the proportions of the car make it look rather conservative in comparison to the ridiculous lines drawn in the US for the cartoon and I thought it took away from the 'evil' of Cruella. It worked better in the Emma Stone movie though, for sure.
I think, in-story, that's true. Another person in the comments made that correction too. But as far as the movie's production goes, it was two different cars with two different titles.
@@CinemotiveShopcraft well no completely true there was 2 cars one for stunts and the mean hero that was black and white but then wrapped later on to match the early bronze one. After the stunt it was repaired and an interior put in as backup

I can’t believe I missed that one!

The cartoon one is actually based of of the 1937 jaguar SS 100
I'm building a Panther De Ville / Bentley 8 Litre Hybrid For My First car, Thanks for the Inspiration!
Will you be documenting your build at all? I'd love to follow along
I love this movie, and hope for more scenes with this classic car in the sequel 😀
I hope the car would be painted Red & Black and have the headlights look angry, just like in the cartoon!

Loved this movie. Loved this car. Definitely right for the character. #youdidgoodkid

Fun fact the cartoon car is based of a 37 Jaguar 300 ss btw

Loved the video but great and biggest inspiration for the animated cat was Bugatti Atlantic type 57
Cruella’s car in Once Upon a Time is the best combination of animated and live action, Zimmer Golden Spirit
Yeah, but it only goes up to 90 mph.

It's not. Disney bought the one used in Cruella in pieces from a man who was going to restore it.

...But I like this!
It would have been better if they got a jaguar mark 4 for cruella’s car
Why do we Brits sometimes use imperial measurements? Where do Americans think they got Imperial measurements from?
😮😯😲💖👍‼️

All that doesn't matter to me is a pretty interesting movie I might want to see I don't know!...🤨🤨🤨😒😒😒

I just thought they changed the colour of the one they stole.
