There has been similar reluctance to spend money on foreign conflicts, only to find oneself in a difficult situation requiring assistance from American allies. Ignoring the issue will not safeguard against the aggressive empire attempting to consume Europe. The UK could be one of the final parts to be consumed, as in the past.
The term "Great Britain" is often used, but some argue that Britain's prominence has diminished, and it is now a small island nation with a legacy from the past. The tradition of monarchy persists, with significant funds allocated to it annually by the taxpayers. Hundreds of millions a year so they can play King and Court. Might want to get your priorities in line.
