One of the things you always here from folks..."lever guns just arent accurate enough for me". I always loved this comment because lets be realistic, 99% of us use our weapons for hunting (and for that matter we arent taking 400+ yd shots, or shouldnt be if youre talking ethics) and thats as serious as it gets. Not many of us are shooting in competitions or making our living from our weapons. Very rarely, if ever, will any of us need our weapons during a home invasion. That being said, i would love to see yall put some proof to that and create a video on how precise a lever gun can be at say 100-150 yards. Beautiful rifle! Thank yall for putting lever guns back in the spotlight!
My Marlin shooting LeveRevolution is extremely accurate at 100/150 yards. I haven’t tried any other ammo because of the accuracy. I don’t shoot any deer father than that and the Hornady ammo has proved it will do the job as long as the shooter does.
Super cool gun!!! I’ve always said to my dad wouldn’t it be cool to make a hybrid “tactical” or “high performance” brush gun. So now that I see how to go about it I think I’m going to go ahead with it. The only thing stopping me before was putting the money into buying the base gun to start with. I have a model94 but it’s a family gun that was my great grandfathers and it was the only new rifle he bought for himself in 1955. All his other guns were milsurps, or second or maybe even third or fourth owner guns. He wasn’t a very wealthy man as far as money goes so he always put the family first before ever buying himself a “grown ups toy”. He was a self employed farmer so he grew a lot of the family’s food because it was an orchard and produce farm and as far as meat it was either hunted, caught, or raised and slaughter by him. So yeah I know that’s all a side note but I just wanted to share it because nowadays people dont appreciate Old time stories like that. Bottom line being it was a very special tool to him that he passed down to me when I was old enough to start hunting and shooting. He had a lot of Sons grandsons and nephews he could have gave it to, but he chose me. The gun was 100% original. No different than the day he walked out of the store with it. It has harvested about 53 deer on his farm and still looks almost new accept that marks his huge hands left on the wood from how he held it. So I could go on seemingly forever with these little anecdotes but yes needless to say it’s An extremely special rifle to me and I wasn’t about to experiment with it so I’m now going to pull the preverbial trigger and buy a new one to start building now that I’ve seen another one and know it can be done nicely with out rigging it up because I can purchase very nice production parts for it. So thank you so so much @Wolf’sPrairieOutdoors for making this video. Now I can start my own, a little more modern family gun to one day pass down. Thanks to this video it will be something very special to have in the family along with stories like mine but for a new generation(s) to come!!!! In conclusion my great grandfather said it’s great to have a tradition to carry on but it’s just as important to work hard and make your own legacy to leave as well.
Excellent build, i am using allot of their parts as well. Gotta say, they seem to offer a superior product. I've looked at multiple brands when choosing parts, i did decide to go with the bigger loop lever from marlin, i like the extra room. I'm a body builder and got beefy hands. Last hunting season i had the orignal u shaped lever and had to sit in the cold with my glove off, so i could fit my hand in. Never again.
Thanks for making the lever gun so popular again. You, ranger point, and Costa have effectively made it almost impossible to find a good lever gun now. Haha. I guess that's what I get for being late to jump on it.
I love lever guns mate, I’ve just ordered a marlin 30-30 dark, I have a Winchester model 94 in 30-30. I’d like another Winchester in 357 or 44 mag and a Henry in 45-70 but getting a Henry in Australia at the moment is like trying to meet the pope
you probably dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of weeks :)
I just bought a Marlin 336 Dark 30-30 as my first rifle and your build matches what I want to do with mine. Just getting in to guns but one of the reasons I bought this as my first is because all the modifications you've made seem so easy even for a novice like myself.
Love this build series. You talked about the safety delete and marking the action smooth by polishing it but it was not shown. I’m looking at doing a similar build I’m just not a fan of the tactical fore end but it does make your gun look really cool especially for a home defense gun. Overall I really enjoy your channel and I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. I’m still in the process of hunting down a 30-30 since they are hard to find right now. Once I get my build done I will send you some photos Brian.
I agree about the metal hand guard. However, RPP now makes a “cartridge quiver” you can attach to it. Also, I prefer a QD cup for sling attachment on the side of the forend instead of the bottom. I hadn’t thought of a bipod until I saw the thumbnail for this video - probably not something I’d ever need but it is an option. Finally, this guy did a better job of selling the feel in your hand than RPP does.
i just picked up a Henry 45/70 with the side loading gate...the gun is perfect right out of the box...ive watched several of your videos and it helped me stay away from the marlin...i wanted a gun that didnt need any mods after buying it...from the trigger to the lever...everything is perfect...and the craftsmanship is second to none.

Good luck!
A great set up in that you have a quick detach optic with irons ready to go. Only way to fly. Also the 30-30 in the eastern US is about perfection and far better matched to the game than your 45-70. It doesnt get any better and is 200yd perfection. I would suggest lookjng at Logcabinlooms channel and hes got a video called Sermon On Pinetar. @@Win94ae Got you! What's your preferred hunting cartridge given the limitations in OH? I'm in Florida and use a .308. I did hunt with my wife's grandfather in Rochester, NY and there you had to use a shotgun/slug-gun so you are right every state is different!
@@davidtadlock2238 I use a Marlin 1894S 44mag with a scope for low light, and I have an iron sighted CVA Hunter in 45-70 for walking around in the woods. Nice looking gun! I have my grandpas Winchester 94 probably 65 years old. Like the way the rifle turned out, it looks awesome! I'd like to do a build like that soon. I have a question on that scope, if I recall you had it mounted a little forward on your 1895, will the eye relief allow it to be used sort of like a scout scope? I looking for a scope to use on my Marlin 1894 csbl that I can mount a little forward of the peep sight without having to take it off.
Thanks so much! It's actually a regular scope, but it worked for me because I generally stayed on the lower powers. If you need the higher powers, you may want to go with a scout scope. I have a Vortex Crossfire scout scope and it works really well!
@@buildhuntxplore Thank you for the reply, I will look into the vortex scope. I'm looking forward to seeing you do some videos on some deer hunting with the 1894 CST and your 336, I think that would be interesting and fun to see.

I don't make the rules, I just follow them.
I wish the 350 Legend was around when I was buying deer rifles, but these work well enough.
Before we were allowed rifles, we could use shotguns, muzzleloaders and handguns; at that time I used a S&W 686 357mag.
Nice looking gun! I have my grandpas Winchester 94 probably 65 years old. I really wanna make my Gun look like yours but just not sure if I can do it since I have a lot of sentimental value in the Gun. My grandpa died before I was born I’m 31 now so never met him but this is the only thing I have from him. Who ever is reading this what would you do?
Thanks!! yeah I totally understand that. I'd say look for a pawn show one to convert, or just do mods that aren't anything serious and you can always switch it back.
Don't ruin an old model 94 with sentimental value for this.
Just get a cheap new one and replace parts.
I’m in the same situation your in i inherited my dads old Winchester 30-30 as well and would love to modernize it, it needs a good restoration
😳NICE LOOKING WEAPON😎
Thanks!
How much did all those mods cost?
I think it's around $1,400 with the gun, scope & rings. I'll do a breakdown soon with everything in it. Just haven't had time to tally it all up lately.
That is a beauty
Thank you!
Where did you get that hand guard at? When I go to the ranger point website it says its only available for pre order.
