In 5th century CE, Aryabhatta established an astronomical observatory near Pataliputra (modern day Patna, Bihar). The whole neighborhood is still called Khagaul (derived from Khagol or Astronomy). There was another observatory established by him near Pataliputra. The place is called Taregana (derived from Taarak-Ganana or Calculation of stars).

A great explanation, Praveen. As an Aussie living in Mindanao Philippines, I'd not seen Polaris before I came here. In Australia we would usually orient ourselves by Crux Australis, the Southern Cross. However, it does move. It's wonderful to see how astronomy worked in ancient India.

They understood that the North Pole and the Sun's movement around the universe are significant, and that Rahu and Ketu mentioned in Jyotishya Shastra correspond to the North and South Poles. We merely need to rediscover the insights that our ancestors had already explored. Excellent video, Praveen. 😀

I had visited this place in 2011. Was really astonished to see such magniticent devices created with that level of accuracy. The guide was not able to explain about some of the devices. The govt should include the technical details of Jatar Mantar in school syllabus rather than the history/ story of wars. Astronomical studies is not included. Indians had such deep knowledge in the past and these should be documented for future generations. Salute the creators behind this astronomical marvel.

In ancient vedic astrology there is a concept of Aynamsha to cater to the ever slight changes to the position of the zodiac, by taking that into account we calculate the sidereal degree of the objects which are quite difference than the tropical degree used by the western astrology, they are actually off by good 24 degrees during this time..

It will be a correct marker to the time period when these two Epic events took place. Already his table of 7 is quite famous, dating the Mahabharat to 7000 years ago and the Ramayan to 14,000 years ago.

Hi there Praveen. I just watched your video about the nobs in temple walls etc. You suggested that they might have been drops from the moulds. A good suggestion, however, consider this possible explanation. What if they were carved from the lumber of the Giant Trees? Felled by Archangel Michael and team, so that the Giants couldn't climb them to escape the coming flood? The nobs would have been new growth buds. This would explain how such intricate carvings were achieved. This could also explain the carved buildings at Petra

I always questioned what is the purpose of humans here on earth? Everything in this universe is indicating that something is there which is waiting for us to find out. I wonder how the whole universe is perfectly aligned. May the universal knowledge enlighten everyone.
