After an incredible, life-changing summer and early autumn, it is time to transition more into the old A-Frame cabin (that we are DIY renovating the interior and exterior) and out of the off-grid cabin as the cold weather and snow arrives. It was my first time fully winterizing the cabin alone too. Time will still be spent occasionally enjoying that special little place out in the middle of nowhere. Also, holy smokes... it felt so good to get the firewood situation under control at both places. If you are new here, my video about moving into the A-Frame a while back explains this unconventional situation.

This was a cinematic masterpiece. Loved the lens flare, color grading and tight compositions - so beautiful!
You can burn pine indoors, that's an old wive's tale. There's been multiple studies you can look up, cresote build up is from wet wood not pine vs hard wood. You do get more BTUs out of hardwood.(all would creates creosote, but wet wood creates more)
Although daunting, change is always good. It makes us stretch and go down new paths. It causes us to expand our horizons. It makes us face our fears. Change is valuable. You will grow and be fine. Blessing sent for your new path!

I think it has something to do with a septic system, which at the off-grid cabin doesn't exist. The house is right next to the stream/river so that's why the town officials are being so hardcore. Also, in Massachusetts you need a certificate of occupancy before you live full time in a dwelling which you almost never get if you have no electricity at all.

Wire a trickle charger on the battery that is hard wired to the posts with kwik disconnect that way batt is always charged up.
I just bought one of those Milwaukee Battery saws and I love it. I saw them on yours and T&C's page and saw how good they worked. Ugh, sorry you're having the battery issues. Wondering if it might be time for a new battery? Do they last long, in general?

The cover of this video is stunning, your DRONE SHOTS in the beginning were mind-blowing, those fall colors! Question, do you ever struggle with chronic fatigue with all the work you do throughout the day? I've considered switching to this more off-grid lifestyle but I have a chronic illness and majorly struggle with chronic fatigue and worry it'll be really hard to keep up with these daily tasks. But I also want to experiment being more disconnected from society to regulate my nervous system, lower my stress, and not be exposed to as many toxins and processed food.

A lovely video. I just came across your channel. We had our first snow October 25th. It has since melted but more will come. I have a Question- why don't you burn pine indoors? That's pretty much all we burn in our wood stove, but we do let it sit to dry out for 2-3 years. I'm looking forward to watching more videos.
Ally, I was wondering the same thing. Oh course, Pine is soft wood, so not ideal, but in a pinch or if that's mostly what you have, like here in the PNW?

This batter operated chainsaws are WORTHLESS. I burned thru 3 of them, Amazon refunding $$$ of each. Then went with Stihl, but had 20" bar replaced with 16" (less weight to handle!)!

1) the road to the off-grid cabin is impassible in the Winter - they can’t always walk in and their snow mobiles are unreliable 2) there is no septic or well at the off-grid cabin 3) it doesn’t even have an address - go back to Ally Marie Brown 9/17/23 “Intruders at My Off Grid Cabin” or Trout and Coffee 9/10/23 “They’re Kicking Us Out of Our Off Grid Cabin”
