Ben, we chatted in the past about my 2021 stalling constantly when approaching idle. After 2 years of research and replacing every part that you and I could think of, I finally found the problem. I remembered my dad telling me that he replaced the decompressor cam on his 69 Harley with a manual decompressor because it was giving him problems. I could not remember the exact problem he had, but it seemed like it was a stalling issue. My Himmy when at idle or approaching idle would pop and then die especially during de-acceleration. So I said I have nothing else to try so I will replace the cam. So I installed the Kent High Performance cam and thank God, no more stalling. Upon inspection the small spring on the original cam was too long and the decompressor had been just flopping around and rattling from the day I bought it. No wonder it was dying. If anyone is suffering with stalling near idle you might consider just upgrading the cam. Get rid of the decompressor. The power increase alone is worth the upgrade, but you will get rid of the de-compressor rattle along with any stalling at idle issues you may have.
Thanks for taking the time to video this install. I've had my tech cam in for quite a few thousand miles now and I noticed the difference, not massive but a more balanced power delivery especially in the mid range. I look forward to your findings. Ride safe
Thank you for the upload Ben. I have just purchased a Lake Blue Himalayan, and a TEC cam is on the way. I have been looking forward to this upload! Thank you from Texas USA!

Did this cam on my bike as well. It seems to pull a little better then it did before, nothing drastic tho. Top end also slightly noisier then before. I had to raise the idle speed a little bit as well. I was trying to go for more midrange, not to sure yet if I got it have to run it in some more so time will tell.
Hi Ben & Mo' ... you guys did a really good job. A quick question... since fitting the new cam, do you need to load a custom 'map' to the ECM to match the new cam profile (to optimise spark timing, fuel & air mix)?
the map that we both run on our powertronic piggy back is custom . most of it is advance 3-5 degrees through out the rev range and the fuel ratio is also up by 5-10 % almost 80% of the throttle operations. so never felt like the bike needed a new map. Zero hiccups . but can i tune the PT to make a custom map to suit the new lift and operation , for sure i can . i am planning on taking the bike to a dyno facility about 350 kms from my place.
Hello Ben, sorry no idea. The camshaft you used is not from the RE agency right? I have a BS3 and this noise makes me crazy… here in Bangalore no one has an idea what it could be the adjusted taps so many times… I really hope this could solve all. For my BS3 should I just get it replaced by the agency?
@@jel1406 the noise is because your valve stem heads have developed serious putting on them .. nothing can be done about it . You WILL have to change the valves . Also if you install the camshaft now the valve train will make atleast 30% more noise . TeC camshaft increases valve train noise , doesn’t reduce them .
I am so desperate… so you mean to say that I have to change the valves only? Sorry I seriously have no idea about all that. I just have my 2016 BS3 and this noise is getting more and more it sounds like a cheap watch… and because am a foreigner here and a girl (little knowledge) they don’t take me serious! They say its normal. Have been now more than 2 year here and I haven’t found one mechanic who is passionate and thorough!
I fitted the Hitchcocks stage 1 cam, the one that is the reprofiled STD cam with the standard decompressor, to my BS3 and it works fine. A noticeable, worthwhile improvement.
Hi Ben Thanks for sharing. I assume this camshaft will allow more air to be inserting to the engine Cylinder by allowing the valves to open for longer time on each combustion cycle. and in that case I believe you need to change the map you are using in order to allow the ECU to inject more fuel . Otherwise you will go too lean ( especially on low RPM's ) correct? BTW - don't call it Ben For God's sake ... give it a name of its own like the Black Rhino or H.B for Honey badger indicating it's tough personality 😉

Hi Ben,
I have a cam with me now in India. How do I get the fueling adjusted on the stock carb? Any links to Jets or jet sizes you can recommend?
