I have been saying over the last 3 years natives need another last of the Mohican type movie not enough white people trying to be native lol I grew up on the rez I saw alot of that and lookinglass powwow used to be huge now it's way smaller unfortunately I think that drugs are a factor it's really bad down there now
What I love about “Prey” is that it’s themes are universal. Naru’s story is more than just a woman who wants to be a hunter. She’s someone who wants to be more than what her tribe expect her to be. She respects her traditions, but doesn’t want to be beholden to them. Her story is relatable because how many of us want to be more than what our families and society expect us to be? How many of us have had go against the norm to be who we truly want to be? I love the fact that Naru isn’t successful in the beginning, just like none of us are. But just like her we don’t give up on what is worth doing. We stand back up and try again. “Prey” is still a kick ass action film, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that they were able to subtly put in such a relatable message into a Predator film is amazing!
Her brother was awesome too, he's the perfect big brother, he knew and believed in her skills. But also wasn't scared to tell her like it is. I honestly had a tear when he gave his life to save his lil sister.
And it's funny how such human stories are considered "woke" nowadays Anything non-white is considered woke and automatically garbage. Meanwhile top gun Maverick is the greatest movie of all time apparently 🤣
Amber was amazing. Her personality in this interview on makes her shine even more. The cast seems so chill. I glad for Dan and everyone that worked on this movie how well received it was. Looking forward to more movies with the predator fighting before the 20th century.
She really carried the movie, wouldn't be such a great movie without that strong central performance (obviously, I guess) We can call Dan Trachtenberg a certified great director now, right?
If Morbius can be rereleased in theatres. This movie definitely deserves to be released again in theaters, perhaps with additional scenes, something like the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home rerelease with 'the more fun stuff'.
Having just finished watching the movie 10 minutes ago, I can say Dan knocked it out of the park. Just an excellent, excellent action movie and Amber and Dakota were awesome.
The first time I saw Amber in a movie was in Ice Road with Liam Neeson. She was so amazing and thankfully the Prey is in Disney which we watched right away. It's incredible. This should be Oscar nominated.
Great movie. Congratulations to all. Going back to the roots was the right move. I only disliked two really small things, a single unnecessary line and the fact that the Predator combat with Taabe didn’t last longer.
It was a great combat but frankly, if it had lasted longer I think Taabe might have won. He put a spear through its shoulder and put a couple of arrows in it. I think the Predator sensed he needed to end him quickly because Taabe was straight up dangerous. I see it as a compliment to Taabe's abilities.
Absolute delight to see Native Americans and Native American Genre on the big screen. The Native American culture is a BEAUTIFUL timeless culture and should be kept alive for audiences around the world to see and appreciate. Hope to see more of these kind of films...
The entire time watching the movie lol on God I was praying for Amber Mid Thunder ⛈lol. Outstanding movie, Amber did her thing in the movie. Loved it 🙌🏿💯💖
I wish they will return in some capacity (mostly unlikey) if they ever make a sequel for prey but man i love this movie my fave predator creature so far my only nitpick was predator needs to be alot more taller
Predator during, say, World War I, would be an era of human technological status sufficiently greater than 1719 when "Prey" takes place and less than 1987 when the original "Predator" takes place. So, a WWI-era Predator movie would be interesting.
I just finished watching it on Hulu. I'd say it's pretty good. Some things bothered me, but overall it was good in my opinion. The action and suspense is what most Predator fans sign up for when watching Predator movies and this film delivered.
It had some of the best Predator franchise moments, however there were things I couldn’t get behind too. One thing was the english lines, some of them much too modern like “you tried but you couldn’t bring it home” like a baseball dad line
@Leftist Filth SPOILER ALERT: For those who will see the movie. 1. The wild life animals: I doubt a wolf would try to stand its ground alone against an invisible unknown thing that is obviously stronger than it, that wolf would have ran the moment it felt something attack it and it couldn't see it. The bear would not do a battle cry after it thinks it won a fight and then turn around to fight again once it hear its kill get back up. It was just too human. 2. I hate when movies quote a previous movie from the franchise: There was at least two instances that I noticed where they quote Arnold "If it bleeds, we can kill it." and "Come on, do it now!" I get that it pays homage to the classic, but it just makes the entire film feel like a tribute and not it's own movie. 3. The way the Predator dies was a bit anticlimactic for me. I kinda was hoping he would get back up even with an arrow in his skull, given he is such a badass. Or he could have at least self-destructed. Other than that, the other stuff was very small but was lingering on the outskirts. Such as Naru (Midthunder) being a woman feeling oppressed by men because she wanted to hunt like the men do. Sort of a Mulan type story. Which made it feel in the beginning of the film that this might be a Hollywood political jab at patriarchy. They didn't go deep into it, thankfully. By the end of the film I felt that it was more about a woman who got a reality check but never gave up her spirit.
@Leftist FilthLike I mentioned, I did at the start feel that the movie was leaning towards the feminism woke stuff you speak of. I wouldn't doubt if that stuff was put in there initially. However, IF they did... they didn't make it their main focus. You're right, if a normal woman went toe to toe with Predator it would be not even a contest LOL. They make it clear throughout the film that Naru is different. More intelligent rather than strong.
The first encounter of the predator with the comanches was so cool cuz when they saw it, instead of freaking out they were like, ok whatever and immediately started fighting it
I've seen it it was the 3rd best Predator after Arnold #1 Brody #2 and now This one Amber Midthunder #3 they actually stuck to the basics and it was great!
They better be getting a sequel so they can tie the pistol in to greyback I loved it shane black can suck it lol thisvwas so well put together the studio better give them another movie
I honestly would not mind if we had an anthology series of movies called "Prey" of just the Yautja going through different time periods in Human History and just fighting those respective warriors of that time. Samurai age, Aztecs, WWII etc. There's so many different ideas that can be implemented that makes this series so fun.
I wonder what happened to Naru in how the flint pistol ended up in Predator 2 given to Danny Glover. Did her Comanche tribe survive going to higher ground?
I was surprised by how good the pacing and action of the movie. Hoping and looking forward on PREY 2 and also if possible. They put predator on Mayan and Aztec time setting. Have watched apocalypto movie of Mel Gibson. Was wondering if you put the predator in that movie would be very interesting and nice.
I loved this movie! as for the costumes, with the body paint, at one point I forgot it was paint and it looked like Naru was wearing a short sleeve top.
I almost couldn't recognize Amber Midthunder in this film because first time i saw her when she acts in Legion tv series with that katana sword. Dane did a great job too as The Predator. Funny that he couldn't see clear enough while wearing the mask.
I loved it! It's not cheesy when it comes to bringing the story of a girl who wants to prove herself or dripping with machismo like the 1st movie. There's a natural flow of the story and we see another side of the Predator.
Disney didn't want but they made a complete dubbing in Comanche with the cast and wrote the dialogues to be close with the lips' movements in each langage.
Dakota Beavers, not Bevers. Loved Midthunder’s and his performances in particular. As I understand names really matter in indigenous nations cultures. An acknowledgment of the error is appropriate.
I just finished watching this and it is definitely better than the last Predator movie, by longshot. The acting and actors are brilliant and the scenery, yes as a Canadian I am biased, was beautiful. The only problem I have is once again the Predator is bested by a human, without technology. How is their species alive if they are beaten all the time. Naru was just way to intelligant on surmising how the Predator tech worked. I would have liked her to team up with the smaller Predator species to beat a larger one from Predators. After she killed the Predator it would have been great to have an ending like in Predator 2 when the elder Predators appeared before Lt Harrigan to pay her respect.
Only thing I did NOT understand about "Prey": did Paaku, the hunter with Naru and Taabe tracking down the lion, survive or not? He got suddenly "whisked away" by either the lion or the predator, at night. But, after that scene, I never heard any more about that character.
We need more Native Indian representation! The only flaw of this movie was that it was too short and not shown in the theater! This would have been great on the big screen! We need more culture how the Native Indian lived, scenery of big plains, their hunting culture. The difference between this setting of Predator and the Predator of Arnold Schwarzenegger is that Native Indians hunted throughout their lives, so it make sense that they make great adversaries of the Predator. It is such a shame this one is not in theaters.
I know right, I feel it would have done really well.
They missed out on my money.
the sound design was amazing, it would have been such a treat to watch it in theatres.
I think this movie could have made a solid box office if released in theaters. It was definitely the next best Predator movie after the original.
I agree! this film should be in the big screen
This film was so incredibly well done, and I loved the Native American story
I am soooo freaking happy to see Native Americans getting so many shows and movies that really show them in a more accurate representation
I don’t know that this is all that accurate of representation but I agree
Her war cry after she killed the pred geeked me out so much
@Leftist Filth what about trump
They would comparing her to going up against the "Dutch" character. I would say that Dutch would have the "one-liners advantage over Naru.
I have been saying over the last 3 years natives need another last of the Mohican type movie not enough white people trying to be native lol I grew up on the rez I saw alot of that and lookinglass powwow used to be huge now it's way smaller unfortunately I think that drugs are a factor it's really bad down there now

@@cruzinthruspace no problem with Native American representation but the girl power bullshit is what I dislike about the movie…
@@louielouie5120 Exactly, her fighting was more fiction than the Predator. Her beating up the other way bigger male tribe member etc.
The depiction of Natives Americans was unbelievable. Loved the movie so much. Fantastic acting by the cast.
@Leftist Filth wow, who hurt you?
@Leftist Filth Good for you buddy. No one cares.
@Leftist Filth cool story bro
Unbelievable inaccurate. I don't think the writers read a single word about the comanche.
It was produced by a Comanche but please tell us your credentials.
This movie should have been released in theaters
Amber was amazing. Her personality in this interview on makes her shine even more. The cast seems so chill. I glad for Dan and everyone that worked on this movie how well received it was. Looking forward to more movies with the predator fighting before the 20th century.
Amber has that "star" quality, liked her roll in the movie Ice Road
I rooted for Naru and Taabe. Great acting chemistry. I was sad to see Taabe die, even though he did heroically... Great acting from all.
She really carried the movie, wouldn't be such a great movie without that strong central performance (obviously, I guess)
We can call Dan Trachtenberg a certified great director now, right?
I thought he already was a great director. I think he was a perfect choice for the Predator franchise.
The producers hit a home run with this movie. Which is incredibly hard to do in Hollywood.
Yep, would love to see him direct every predator movie moving forward, this film was amazing
she was really not convincing as a warrior or hunter
If Morbius can be rereleased in theatres. This movie definitely deserves to be released again in theaters, perhaps with additional scenes, something like the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home rerelease with 'the more fun stuff'.
Amber did a great job in the movie.
Having just finished watching the movie 10 minutes ago, I can say Dan knocked it out of the park. Just an excellent, excellent action movie and Amber and Dakota were awesome.
Such as great cast and creative team. It’s a shame Disney didn’t have faith in this project to put it in theaters.
The first time I saw Amber in a movie was in Ice Road with Liam Neeson. She was so amazing and thankfully the Prey is in Disney which we watched right away. It's incredible. This should be Oscar nominated.
Having actors do dialogue scenes in silent pantomime is straight out of Terrence Malick's playbook.
Yes it is. Too bad the cinematography was pretty far from being as good as a Malick's movie. Among other things.

the director, scrip writers,actor/actress and all the crew! PREY is a Great movie.

I would like to see the Predator during the Vietnam war.
The first one is inspired by that idea
Predator during, say, World War I, would be an era of human technological status sufficiently greater than 1719 when "Prey" takes place and less than 1987 when the original "Predator" takes place. So, a WWI-era Predator movie would be interesting.
WWII Predator vs Nazi SS but Predator wins. 😆
@@theultimatereductionist7592actually, there already was a plot involving World War II but in the comics “Predator”published by Dark Horse Edition.
