I always appreciate your enthusiasm Pam!!!...I've had so many requests for a dry granular fertilizer mix people can purchase and I don't like any of them currently on the market so I've created my own that will be available early next season!!... its a complex recipe that took me many years to develop!
@@gardenlikeaviking Thank you Nate. Having to keep up with a positive attitude, it really helps. Even a smile might brighten up someone's day. I've proven that. Cool video! We grew ginger in containers in zone 6b and brought them inside when it was cold. It’s very easy, and well worth it in my opinion. Ginger is delicious, nutritious, and medicinal. For prepper-minded folks, and it is definitely something to consider growing.
So glad to see this worked for you!! I am in 6a western tip of Illinois. Did you do them in ground or containers? I’m ready to plant mine but haven’t decided (which is why I’m watching ginger videos 😂😂)
@ We grew them in containers. They take a very long time to grow so if we did grow them outside, we would probably need some type of weather protection, and/or we would need to have them growing most of the year. I hope it works for you.
How long of a growing window? I have about 100 days in my zone, then I'll need to move it inside or harvest everything. I'll definitely watch the whole tutorial. I LOVE your channel!! Thank you!

During your live today you mentioned this dry fertilizer… is it for sale or do you have any suggestions for ginger food? Mine is about a foot tall thanks!!
Plant 4 inches below the surface and plants at least 1.5 feet from the other plants, root plants require root space. For ginger and galangal will need a good foot and a half. Also, pleas do not use shallow pots to grow it, use at least 1.t feet deep pot and please let them grow for about 1 to 2 years. Grow them next to your building because they like the heat from it.

Also I just searched Viking granular fertilizer on google and it pops up with a urea chemical fertilizer named Viking. Please all you Vikees out there, steer clear of this because it’s no bueno. And yes, we are now calling ourselves Vikees! Swiftees and Beliebers have nothing on us!You rock.
its ok just make sure the new stuff is organic and you can plant it directly into the grow pots at this point and by the time first frost comes you'll definitely have ginger
You don't have to start with organic ginger. If it's from the normal grocery store just soak it in water overnight to remove the growth retardant.
Yes, soak it for 24 hours
