- John O'Malley and William Morgan will be sentenced for their parts in recent violent disorder in Southport.
This morning, Sir Mark Rowley warned that rioters are criminal thugs, not patriots.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner said those involved in the violent disorder which has broken out since the Southport killings would spend years in prison as a consequence of their actions.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Sir Mark said: “We’ve got criminal damage, violence, weapons offences, football banning orders. These are criminal thugs.
“Any suggestion that they’re patriots, or they’ve got a cause that they’re protesting about is nonsense, and frankly, most of them are going to be charged with violent disorder and most of them are going to prison for a few years.”

Surely this is a more urgent case isn’t it? There are not thousands of Muslims punching police women at airports every night of the week. The courts probably don’t see it as an urgent need to quell immediate violence. Makes sense to investigate it thoroughly and go through normal legal procedures to make sure convictions are made.
I personally want to see these men and those men face justice.
