I had a spidermonkey & she would also make that noise prior to earthquakes other things. The quakes were mostly small ones below 3.4 that we couldn't feel but she did. We had big ones too.

She might of heard an Eagle or Vulture..Do you have any of those type of birds around where you live ? Probably why she wouldn't come outside and her reason for alarming sound.
