So good, and if I’m not mistaken the album version is what’s in the video, so this was a good choice for video, even though I’d always recommend the album audio. Halo, which wasn’t a single, but it’s an absolutely wicked masterpiece is my next suggestion. I hope you’ll work your way passed Violator both earlier (especially Music For The Masses & Black Celebration) and later. Great reaction, Shawn. Glad you’re digging it.
I stole this quote, but it fits here: The Smiths saw the cruelty of life and found the Humor in it. The Cure saw the cruelty of life and found the Beauty in it. Depeche Mode saw the cruelty of life and found themselves strangely aroused.
Alan Wilder was a very important part of the DM sound. He was a magician in the studio. Unfortunately, he left the band in 1995. 😢 My favorite song from the Violator album is Halo. 👍💯
Violator is an amazing album. My first dance with my husband at our wedding was another song by them “Somebody.” One of my favorite songs off another album is “I Want It All.”
If you liked this then you should check out an absolute GOD of 70’s and 80’s electronic music - GARY NUMAN!!! The most unique singing style you’ll ever hear. Try “Are Friends Electric?” for starters - maybe the live at Brixton Academy version.
I love this song! OMG I was TOTALLY into Depeche Mode back in the day, them and Pet Shop Boys. BUT this video reminded me of those music videos that had long scenes before and after with no music! It's a "music" video not an indie film. Argh! used to frustrate the crap out of me! Still did!
Violator is an alltime classic start to finish, really. Depeche are their own music style and had so many great hits between the 80‘s and early 2000‘s. They have just released an absolutely brilliant new album - check out the brand new video for „Before we drown“ for instance - and are on a sell-out tour.
Depeche Mode was the highest of the Goth music scene; even as we moved into the 90s and the Goth scene changed. Many NuWav and Goth bands changed and became either Rock (classic rock) or Alternative Rock.
Hi ya buddy I've just saw um live at the 02 arena London UK wow wow wow 🎉🎉🎉a full house the crowd epic brilliant awesome 👌👍👌 Depeche mode live epic awesome amazing band luv um my all time favourite is everything counts and never let me down again you need to watch them videos live they are on RUclips just amazing brilliant 🎉🎉🎉enjoy buddy
Off subject, but I don't think I can keep the Stop Making Sense tour reactions going! 😣 I can't seem to find the 3 song from that tour on RUclips... and it seems like there might be a few missing
@@ShawnSalvadori Oh--that's ok! (Edited to say: I see what you mean...I'm trying to put a playlist together and some are missing, or not good quality...it seems that some recent remastered live versions have been taken down.)
This is one of my favorite DM tunes. Never Let Me Down Again is a legendary tune by DM they always play live on there tours it all started on there 101 tour. It is a must see moment for a DM fan i recommend either there 101 tour where it all started live at The Rose Bowl in front of 80.000 fans or from Barcelona.... If you are interested DM change there look and sound during the mid 90's right after the Violator album. There sound is a bit more rocky since they start using the guitar and drums live
You really should check them out live. Go for Never Let Me Down Again as you've already reacted to Enjoy The Silence and Personal Jesus...though both of these are worthy of seeing live...I'd say, ETS live in Berlin and PJ on the Devotional tour.
Some of the sexiest lyrics ever- such a great song.
Yes!
This song is about fucking. 'That's all there is'.
Dark sound designer Alan Wilder ❤

They have so many great tunes, one can’t even count them all ❤️
Many sound leyers, Martin's voice in the backgruond and lyric, to me DM's best song .
💥🤙 This album was prime time Depeche Mode. Saw them on this tour!

My god - that's brilliant. lol.
My favorite song 🫶🏽

Like shackles on your feet
Like a halo in reverse” so friggin good

I like young generations discovering DM 😅

Love this song! ❤❤ Great reaction… thank you!
Yeah without Dave's voice it would never be the same. But that could be said with every member. There were no passengers in DM
Sex, drugs and synths. Roll over, Clapton.

Policy of Truth, or Halo, next!!

They have a great catalog of songs , but I’d say this album and Music for the Masses is the height of their song writing.
Music for the masses was played a lot in my car for sure

Great song! I remember dancing to "Just Can't Get Enough." It was early 80s I think, and I had the 45 in pink vinyl, very rare.
Hey,screen hog; can we actually get to see them ? Thanks for the postage stamp coverage
