- First review of the Timex Waterbury Dive Chronograph.
This is a super cool looking watch from Timex - a good looking design with some lovely unique details.
Produc code: TW2V42400D7PF
Quartz movement
Case Width: 41 mm
Water Resistance: 100 meters
Case Height: 13 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm
Lug to lug: 47mm Хобби
This watch is so much more attractive than the pictures of it. I love the colored subdials. The band is so unique and sharp. Amazing job on this one Timex!
This looks so much better in your video than it does in any of the pictures on their website which makes it look rather cheap, the colours now look so much better and then the polished edges of the case look wonderful as well.
👍 Thanks - Timex like most watch brands have very poor images of their watches on the website.
That is seriously such a good looking watch. I’m picking one up for sure.
It sure is - thanks for watching 👍
I have a few Timex watches in my collection, but I'm now way more interested in the direction they are going creatively. Nice review sir!
You and me both! Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for the video. Timex has a few very cool watches out. This is definitely one of them.
Indeed - Thanks for watching 👍
Very nice closeups showing the details, beautiful piece.
👍 Thanks for watching.
This is cheaper than the omega moon swatch and there is no comparison on what you get for your money. This looks like a high end watch.
👍 Thanks for watching.
I would never pay above retail for a Moonswatch and maybe not even full retail but I own several Moonswatch replicas that are awesome and all less than $30 each. Makes it hard to justify paying big money for a Swatch. What's particularly nice about Moonswatch is the lightness of the watch. Not something I ever considered until I started wearing them. I do think this Timex is extremely attractive and tempted to purchase one. It's a little pricey compared to a Pagani 1701 with the Seiko VK64 mecha-quartz. The Timex movement is most likely a Seiko Epson YM12 which basically functions the same as the VK but doesn't have the instant reset of the chronograph hands like the VK series.
Plus it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. But if you lick your moonSwatch it will turn your tongue blue. 😜
@@drbobsnightmare2521 I mean, don’t lick your watches but it will turn your wrist blue also
Wow, what a surprise! That's actually a good looking watch...And a Timex!
Yes, they have really upped their game recently. Thanks for watching 👍
Beautiful watch and a very nice review. This made me look at timex more seriously, i have 2 before now I need to experience 1 more. 😊
Thanks for your kind feedback. Timex are bringing out some very cool watches these days. 👍
WD, you're right, seems a lot of thought went into the designing of this relatively inexpensive watch. Thanks for 'sounding the alarm' early!
👍 😁 Thanks for watching!
Looks beautiful, tempted to get one!
Go for it! Thanks for watching 👍
Nice review and well made video, thank you for posting!
👍 Thanks for watching!
I GOT THE LAST ONE IN THE UK BRO! Thank you so much, didn't even know about this watch without your video! Subscribed :)
Nice one - well done. 👍 Thanks for the sub!
@@wristwatchdave422 Haha it's now back in stock! Anyway, what a watch :)
I liked the colors and decided to get one. It’s a well built watch and I am happy with my purchase. I swapped the bracelet with a light blue soft canvas strap this morning just for fun. The strap color matches well and reduces the weight of the watch considerably and makes it wear, for me, better. I’m very pleased with this watch.
Very nice! Sounds like a great choice of strap. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Steven, is it hard to do so? I mean to swap the bracelet? I'm wondering to buy one for myself but don't know if I'll be able to change it, thanks!
@@jedrzejgodek6245 Very easy. The spring bars are easy to get to and you can pop them off with a spring bar tool or a small knife blade.
@@stevenharvey9001 Awesome, thanks a lot!
Looks gorgeous, worth it for looks alone
Absolutely - thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for your great review based on it I just purchased one, and was fortunate to have a previous offer coupon from Timex for $30 off, thus paid $170 for this beautiful watch. Thank you again and all the best 👍
Forgot to mention that I enjoyed your review so much that I subscribed to your channel...cheers 👍
Nice one! You got a good deal there. Glad the video helped. 👍
That's great. So glad you enjoyed the review and thank you for subscribing!
@@wristwatchdave422 Absolutely and many thanks 🙏
Great looking watch 👍
👍 Thanks for watching
That's a real beauty!
It sure is! Thanks for watching 👍
One of the main reasons I got this was the wrist-strap. I've never seen anything like it and I love how flexible and well-built it is. I'm surprised at how annoyed you were by it.
Thank you for this review, really helpful, just placed an order from the Watch Shop, £142 after discount so great value.
Nice one! Great price. 👍
What discount?
Beautiful watch, just got mine. I'm surprised it's not getting more attention.
One thing, though, is that this is definitely not a mechaquartz even though the chrono seconds hand ticks more than once per second. Mechaquartz movements snap the chrono seconds hand back when you reset it with the bottom pusher. This one sweeps clockwise until it hits the default position
Yes, that's correct. I have should have realised that. 👍
Maybe Seiko/Epson VD53C
I may be wrong, but I believe the mechanical module on a "mechaquartz" would have the flyback feature on the chrono hand, but it's still probably Seiko, I looked into aligning the chrono hand with the pushers and the pusher sequence was pretty standard for a seiko module. Either way great watch, great review, I had my eye on a Dan Henry for a while now but I'd say they're matched in quality except this one had better water resistance and for almost 100 bucks less with a discount, I'm really happy with my well guided purchase, thank you sir! 🤘
Yes - You are correct re the mechaquartz movement. I'm glad you liked the review - thank you for your kind feedback. 👍
Woah! That’s good looking zenith contender for us regular people. Haha.
😄👍. Thanks for watching.
Timex should give you a commission because I bought one after watching this! Also with the 20% discount, seems like great value for money, looking forward to my next visit from the postman!
Yes - I need to set up an affiliate link with Timex! Congratulations on your new purchase - you got a good discount too! I'm sure you'll be delighted with it. Thanks fo watching 👍
this is a winner, ordering mine soon
👍 Great - thanks for watching.
Great review, just ordered, two left in stock on UK site.
Edit - Now out of stock
Nice one! 👍
Q. What colour are the applied indices and hands?
how do you size the bracelet for this watch?
really Zenith... nice
Great review.
Thanks!
Can you change the bracelet? Is it quick release?
Pusher bracelet adjustment?
No micro adjust?
can this be changed into a vintage style leather strap?
Wow....cool !!
👍 Thanks for watching.
just recieved mine today! It is a beautiful watch. The dial is fantastic. It looks and feels waaay more expensive than the $219 I paid for it. I can already tell that it will be very hard to take off my wrist! I couldnt be anymore happy with this watch.
Nice one 👍 Enjoy it - thanks for watching.
Can you change the strap on this model
Aside from cosmetics how does this compare to the Q chronograph? I just picked the Q (Love it) but I’m liking this as well.
From what I can see, they are very similar.
Whoa! cool.
👍
Bought this from the watchshop with an £80 discount! Very happy with it however no micro adjustment is a shame
Nice one 👍 Great discount!
Is it available un Europe?
Does this offer better value than the q chronograph? Is the build quality similar? Which do you prefer?
I have never held the Q chrono but am keen to get one soon. I assume the build quality will be very similar but I cannot say for sure yet.
Just got this for £130. Hoping it looks okay on my smaller wrist.
That's a great price! 👍
Very nice. I just purchased a Pagani 1701 V3 but this may be my next purchase. I don't believe this is a mecha-quartz because the reset of the large sweep hand rotates around clockwise to reset like a standard quartz. The Seiko VK series mecha-quartz (as on my Pagani) snaps back like a mechanical chronograph. True this Timex has a 1/5 second sweep hand, but I have cheap quartz watches with Sunon PE50 Chinese movements that also do this. Shame no sapphire crystal at this price point.
Yes, that's a good point about the movement. It possibly is a cheap Chinese quartz which could explain why Timex do not divulge what the movement is! Anyway, thanks for your comments and thanks for watching . 👍
@@wristwatchdave422 Actually it's most likely a Seiko Epson YM12 movement. So hopefully better quality.
@@mtbbiker6401 👍
Out of stock in Australia , just bought the last piece ❤
Well done 👏 Thanks for watching 👍
Checked the timex website today
1 left.
£190 but 15% off if your a first time buyer. SO £166 I think
Nice looking watch.
The case shape of the Q timex chrono is better for me. Its 40mm and £200 on bracelet and £180 on a strap. But it doesn't feature the coloured dials.
Yeah the Q Chrono with the panda dial looks awesome too. Timex are nailing it with these classic styles right now. Thanks for watching. 👍
they look stunning, can't find this one in my country :(
That's a shame. It was only just launched recently here in the UK. Hopefully it will be available in your country soon! Thanks for watching.👍
21st century and internet do miracles - I have been bought only one watch out of ten in my country.
So the chronograph function doesn't actually work?
I don't know why you say that - it works perfectly.
The movement may be in house, their Intelligent Quartz line was and had watches with a sweeping chrono hand
That could well be it. 👍
I'm betting on Seiko Epson YM12 movement. It matches sub dial positions and functions.
@@mtbbiker6401 👍
It’s not a Seiko mecha quartz - those snap back when you reset the chronograph hand due to the mechanism.
Don't tell the wife, but I'm in love. Lol. I just got a couple of chronographs, a Pulsar Solar and an Orient Panda. But I could have gotten this instead of the Orient had I seen it. The Orient is using a movement of the same layout as this and being part of Seiko its definitely a VK movement. You could open it and take a look I suppose., 😉 It may possibly be a Miyota too, the Caliber 0S10 has the same layout as this too.
😄 I'm sure the wife would understand if you showed her a picture of it. I think you're right about the movement. Thanks for watching 👍.
Epson YM12 movement. Not a mecha-quartz in the Timex. VK63 has running seconds at 6 not 9. I have VK63 mecha-quartz in my Pagani 1701.
@@mtbbiker6401 Ah great. Good to know. Where did you find the information that this is the movement in this watch? It will be good to know to reference it for other people.👍👍
@@brianmsahin Well I'm not 100% certain but I've seen the Epson movements used in other Timex watches. The YM12 fits the bill with the running seconds at 9, 60 minute counter at 6 and 24 hour at 3. Date 4:30 and 1/5 second large sweep center hand. The running seconds at 9 is fairly unique. Plus reset of the chrono hands is standard quartz action. It does not snap back like a true mecha-quartz VK movement. Also calibrating the chrono hands with the pushers with crown out is not possible on a mecha-quartz since it uses hammer style reset. How does your Orient behave?
@@mtbbiker6401 Thanks, it's probably a good guess then!. My Orient has 24 hrs at 3, chrono seconds at 6 and minutes at 9. The center seconds is the normal seconds hand. The date is at 4.30 too. My Pulsar Solar is the same layout but that's a Solar VR42. Both can be calibrated with the pushers too. Also they're not mecaquartz as they don't snap back either. This is good info. Thanks! 👍👍
Timex is currently king IMO with so many amazing collections : Q, Q Chronograph, Waterbury, Snoopy (Peanuts), Expedition, Ironman, Giorgio Galli, Marlin, Reissue, etc.
Totally agree!
This chronograph is more water resistant than most $10k watches!
Indeed - thanks for watching 👍
Yeah Timex are putting some big hitters to shame with 100M water resistance
Excellent review so I subscribed. Thinking the movement is a Miyota quartz chrono. It is Not meca-quartz.
Thanks for subscribing 👍
Rgb luminous?
no
Movement maybe a Cal. VD53C
👍
You should have refferal links mate. A pity you don't. Splendind work.
You're right - I need to get onto that! Thanks for watching 👍
Bought the watch. It's quite nice from a far but you won't be fooling anyone as to cost. The dull sheen of the metals shout cheap and it has the look of a fossil watch on the dial. Tested it with my GF who knows nothing about watches and she guessed about £150. So it's a fun beater holiday watch but not a go to watch.
Yeah - it's not using the best materials, but I have seen far worse for the price. This watch is all about the excellent design though. That's what makes it special. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi. What price?
£190
@@wristwatchdave422 Thanks for the quick reply!
Nice watch for this price 🙂
It sure is!
Mineral glass :((( wish it was sapphire at that price
Having recently acquired the Q Reverse Panda Chronograph, I can happily say they shit all over those horrid MoonSwatches.
Absolutely- thanks for watching 👍
Timex is one of those brands that reminds me of my childhood. If your stupid enough to start a watch collection, you should have at least one Timex in it. Seriously don't start collecting watches. One is too many and a thousand is never enough. If you need to know the time just ask some idiot wearing a watch. Seriously it will make his day.
😄😄👍 all very true!
I feel attacked
vk63 I think
This on a mesh!
👌👍
When the day comes that all these companies ditch the WORTHLESS 24 hour dial (look outside…sheeeeese) and replace it with a 12 hour totalizer which is especially useful (particularly when flying :-) I will buy it. Good review!
Yes, that would be much more useful. Thanks for watching 👍
the same as the Q
👍. Thanks for watching.
She would have been perfect if she had been solar. I don't understand why manufacturers are still making battery-powered quartz watches that need to be changed every 2 years, while solar technology exists with batteries that need to be changed every 30 years or even never.
Yes, good point. Thanks for watching 👍
"Only just received the watch today... haven't had much time with it" kinda isn't what I want to hear in a review. :-(
"kinda isn't what I want to hear in a review."??? What's so bad about this exactly? It's a first impressions review. I went into plenty of detail about the watch. I listed the full specs of the watch, plus detailed macro views and my honest opinions. I'm really not sure why it matters that I only received it that day. Anyway, your'e entitled to your strange opinion but the video has had over 100 likes in under a week with numerous positive comments, so I'm very happy with that.
@@wristwatchdave422 Haha, owned! Not every customer is right lol
This one is a mixture between a unicorn and a Yeti. At least here on Europe. Sold out ever since. Can't take them serious, when they aren't able to restock at some point. Worse than Moonswatch.
Just wish it was a tad bigger,.. 44 mm would be perfect.
The best thing of the watch is the dial! The worst part is that ugly bracelet.
Yeah - fair point!
The bracelet is so ugly that it kills an otherwise really nice watch
Thanks for watching
Nice watch, colors could be toned down a bit and that bracelet, ugly as sin.
👍 Thanks for watching.
Ever heard of focus FFS
Yeah - ever heard of eye glasses FFS?? It is in focus
Greeting from 🇮🇳
Here are few things I would love to share
1) its usually retails for around 160$ After discount which is a stellar deal
2) thanks to the pop of colours, this watch doesn't look like affordable replica of daytona or speedmaster
3) Its conversation starter for sure. People even inquired about “from where I got this watch custom painted”🤣
Thanks for sharing!
